Scrivener Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 OMFG. In a word, amazing. It's not an action movie by any means, most of the story is about relationships and how Banner & co deal with the strange issues they're presented with. It's actually kind of sad but I found myself digging my fingernails into the arm of the seat on numerous occassions. The editing is VERY comic-like. Cuts will sometimes pull back far enough to show the pages of a comic book, with real video in place of normal comic cells. The whole move was treated with great love and respect to the source material, and the whole thing felt REAL. Blows Spiderman and X-Men clean outa the water. It'll probably be one of the best movies out this year. 9.5/10
Supreme Cmdr Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 I concur. And its that backstory buildup that ended up taking a full hour of the movie before he even turns into the Hulk. But once that got started, it got better. That first hour - to me - was boring somewhat. 9/10
d8alus Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Ditto and stuff. I especially loved the incredible attention to detail on the CG, from the dust on the Hulk in the desert, to the transformations.. I give it an 8/10, just because the characters were fairly predictable from the get-go and the defeat of the villian at the end was kind of...bizarre and somewhat anti-climatic (of course it's a comic at it's core, so that's understandable.)
Kevin Trotter Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Sorry guys, Grayfox and I caught this yawner Saturday and I must say I was a tad disappointed. An ENTIRE HOUR to build to a climax was a bit too much. I think they overdid the greek tradgedy theme and the plotting suffered as a result.I fell asleep twice!! The spectacular desert chase scenes almost redeemed the film but I honestly don't think this was as good as I hoped it would be. 710

Spindoktor Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Saw it yesterday. I thought it was an amazing film, kudos to Ang Lee. I thought it was about 30 minutes too long. Spectacular effects, the Hulk was very cool. Oh and umm, Jennifer Connelly is hot. I also caught the T3 trailer (good thing it was the last, because I slept through the 30 minutes of ads and other previews). This is going to be the blockbuster of the summer. Bring it on, I'm ready.
d8alus Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 I guess it helps that I went into the Hulk expecting it to be horrible, so I was pleasantly suprised that it wasn't...but yes it was too slow in the beginning...in fact, there was a little kid in the seat next to me that kept asking his dad (rather loudly) "Daddy, where's the Hulk?"
Guest Grayfox Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 quote:Sorry guys, Grayfox and I caught this yawner Saturday yeah... had to wake you up during part of it too the beginning was the worst... and that frame in frame crap drove me absoloutely nuts... thought race was expecting me to turn green and start destroying the theater. once the momentum got going, it was pretty damn good. the whole desert scene was incredible, and the efx were out of this world... however i wouldnt even come close to saying it was better than x-men... no way. 7.5/10 due to the agonizingly slow start, and the frame in frame crap.
