argee Posted March 19, 2001 Report Posted March 19, 2001 Word is it will be called RANGERS and not include any of the original cast. Filming for the pilot movie is to start in 6-8 weeks in Vancouver. I expect this to be broadcast on the SciFi channel in the states.

Kurt Meyer Posted March 19, 2001 Report Posted March 19, 2001 Is it the same guy who did Babylon 5? I aint even going to try to spell his last name =) That spinoff he did bombed hard. Excalibre or whatever it was called. Heh I don't even remember the name. The ship was cool but the show sucked heh.
Hasenau Posted March 19, 2001 Report Posted March 19, 2001 That'd be COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!
ShoHashi Posted March 19, 2001 Report Posted March 19, 2001 I sorta liked the spinoff...it just ticked me off that they never ended the series with whether or not the Excalibur found a cure for Earth. I do realize that there was a problem with the producer and TNT and that sorta ended the series prematurely. Nothing like a good cliffhanger!------------------ Commodore ShoHashi ICV Aries, New Frontier (Rinaal) Station Commander, New Frontier Bishamon Fleet ICQ 484321 [email protected] "You can only love or hate something you truly understand."
Guest Posted March 20, 2001 Report Posted March 20, 2001 JMS pulled the show after the 13'th episode because TNT was insisting that certain stupid changes had to made so the show would appeal to a wider audiance (more sexual content and violence was among some of the changes). As a result most of the episodes are dumbed down significantly from what they where supposed to be. (There's actually alot more to this story though it would fill 2 screens to explain it all.)Only the first 5 episodes where untouched and they're the best episodes though they're aired as the last 5 episodes in the series since TNT forced them to make a new first episode which was pretty much horrible. You can tell the episodes appart by which uniforms the crew wears. The cooler black uniforms are from the episodes TNT interfered in (though the show was given a higher budget for those episodes). Once JMS realised there was no way out of TNT's grasp he cut the show right before the first major story arc episode was to occur so as not to give any of it away (in case the show could be salvaged later). The 14'th episode would have been some sort of major plot introduction (like the introduction of the Shadows in episode 13 of B-5 "Signs and Portents").It's been pretty much confirmed that the cure would have been discovered in 2'nd season so the show was obviously about something ELSE. Hopefully this new show is happening and isn't just a rumor, though JMS said about a month ago to keep an ear out for such news. Can't wait.Yes I'm a HUGE fan =) PS Crusade will be re-aired on the Sci-Fi channel starting April 9'th. B-5 DVD's will start appearing around August. Farscape's next DVD is released tomorrow. And Robotech DVD's are on the way very soon. =) < -- all this pertains to US releases [This message has been edited by Vorpal (edited 03-19-2001).]

ShoHashi Posted March 20, 2001 Report Posted March 20, 2001 Wow, Vorpal..you are a genuine fan of Babylon 5! I never was hooked on it until the show was almost over. Then they started showing all the episodes on TNT..and I watched faithfully everyone everynight until the end of the series. I think it was several months of catching up! Anyways, Farscape is also a good show...took a bit to get into it, but once you do, it's great! Will definately have to pick up the DVDs for both series. Also, I'm a big fan of StarGate SG-1. I think those shows are pretty good. ------------------ Commodore ShoHashi ICV Aries, New Frontier (Rinaal) Station Commander, New Frontier Bishamon Fleet ICQ 484321 [email protected] "You can only love or hate something you truly understand."

Guest Posted March 23, 2001 Report Posted March 23, 2001 More possilbe good news (from VE)...Babylon 5 revived? 1:09 PM (your time) - Kevin "DreadWalsh" Walsh - Games: Space Shooter / Space Sim. - (11) Babylon 5: Into the Fire was being developed by Sierra up until it was cancelled in 1999. Efforts were being made by some of the team members and the people from www.firstones.com to continue to develop the program. The main problem was that Sierra still owned the code. "Randy" from the original team left word on a forum (thanks Trond) that goes like this: I guess you guys killed the server last night? LOL. I didn't sleep much myself. The "meeting" went VERY well. A tech demo is next - then we should have a definitive answer for "step one" in this 3-step final push.If they can make a tech demo, that must mean they have at least some of the code. We'll give you word as we get it.
