Wow

TODAY, PRESIDENT Bush will roll out the red carpet for Chinese President Hu Jintao, a leader whose government brutally crushes freedom, democracy and the religious expression of the Chinese and Tibetan people. Hu will receive the best welcome U.S. taxpayer money can buy, including full military honors and a 21-gun salute.

This is the same regime that provides military technologies to countries that threaten international security, including Iran and North Korea. The same regime that threatens Taiwan with a military attack, detains and tortures Chinese people for expressing their political and religious beliefs and arrests Tibetans for carrying a picture of the Dalai Lama.

You know there are other ways of stopping regimes than brute force- sometimes it is necessary, sometimes there are ways to avoid it. I think he hopes he can avoid forcing a settlement on issues by showing hospitality.

Good for him like I really care who he invites anyway. LOL! Hey maybe he'll do a repeat of his dads projectile vomiting for the cameras.

Can we get a BOO HU from the press corp?

Who needs projectile vomiting when we have morons allowing dissidents in with the press corp.

At the very least the Bush team has been very entertaining.

Kind of like Nero fiddling while Rome burned.

Make love not war?

Seriously... are we supposed to offer up as sacrificial lambs the pillars of freedom, expression, and human rights just to "get along" or should we perhaps rethink our normalized relations with China?

God forbid we have to manufacture our own American flags for Wal-Mart to sell instead of outsourcing them to Chinese sweatshops to save money.

Ideals don't matter anymore... that's sooooooo 1776. Now it's all about whether the Elephant or the Donkey is going to trample your freedoms while you applaud "your" team.

Why exactly are we refusing Cuban access to our country now?

No matter about human rights, freedom of speech or freedom in generally. Its all 'bout economical possibilities. There is a smell of hypocrisy in the air..

/me thinks about afghanistan and iraq.

I suppose that makes it okay then. As long as a corporation stands to benefit, it's good policy.

You said it, not me

I'd try to explain it in more detail but then you would get lost rather quickly

Although, it would be nice if you wouldn't put words in peoples mouths when thats not what they typed

More on this later, maybe...
