Dungeon Lords U.K. Delay [June 02, 2005, 11:31 am EDT] - 12 Comments

Mindscape announces a delay to the U.K. release of Dungeon Lords, even though an English version of Heuristic Park's combat RPG is currently available in North America. Here's word on the delay, as European editions of the game were slated to ship in May:

Mindscape has today taken the decision to delay the release of Dungeon Lords by three weeks, to allow the award-winning development team additional time to address and polish some aspects of the gameplay.

Mindscape apologises for this delay, however, as a distributor and publisher of quality leisure and games software, Mindscape feels honour bound to offering only the best titles, produced to the highest of standards, to its loyal fan and customer base.

Mindscape apologises for any inconvenience caused and its sales and marketing team are available for any further enquiries.

Dungeon Lords will now be available for PC on 1st July 2005.

Well, they should have seen the disaster fallout by now; since DC released theirs on 05-04. Thats a whole month of hair raising wtf!?!

DC only have the North American rights. Mindscape has the UK rights.

Consider what DL could have been without a PUBLISHER involved. It's really too bad that being an indie developer is virtually financial suicide. (Unless your Valve or 3000AD). I used to hate the idea of download-only distribution, but it is becoming more and more apparent that it is one way to circumvent the need for a publisher, thus I am starting to warm to the whole idea.

First time I've seen that in a review.

BTW, did anyone see that the original BC3000AD got a dubious honor from the one review site?

Dungeon Lords is probably the least finished game to ever be shipped for PC, excepting Battlecruiser 3000 AD, a title that will probably hold the honour for as long as PC gaming exists.

Yeah! We're #1!

Yes, I'm feeling silly this morning. How'd you guess?

Seriously, at least SC stuck with it and finished the game. One hopes he set a good example that will be followed by other developers (like Heuristic Park) who get whacked by the publisher.

hehe, yeah, we sho are

These reviewers are having a field day and getting quite creative at it. One can't help but smile; seeing that we've been there and back again.

Today, Game Industry weighs in. Speculating that D.W has probably lost it.

Ok,today, 21st of June DL is also available in germany. Sparky got it.

So much to the promised implemented features in the german version:

-automap- A-HAHAHAHA- yes WHEN HELL FREEZES

-complete synchronizstion- yes with terrible

speakers

-more stable and balanced than U.S. Version-

ridiculous

Hm, guess I have to return to good old Nethack

LOL sparky why did you even bother buying it...after that many dissapointed reviewers? It was obvious that the 3 weeks(or so)development time more wouldn't make too much difference in regard to the US version.

It's very sad that they rushed it out..I guess they should have taken one more year to complete DL.

That's pretty right, but I was looking for a nice arpg for so long now that I had no other chance.

And I still believe in the ALMIGHTY PATCH which fixes this buggy universe...

as predicted in "The Holy Book of Patches" Version 0.3.4.beta-order it now and become a believer....
