Steve Schacher Posted August 5, 2001 Report Posted August 5, 2001 Starting yesterday, my firewall detected 417 hits on my PC, and today it's already up to 157 hits. Prior to yesterday, the average number of hits was under 20.I wonder if the code red virus is causing infected pc's to ping the world or something. Have any of you seen a jump in your firewall logs or is this just something on the @home network?

Wolferz Posted August 5, 2001 Report Posted August 5, 2001 I have seen my firewall take > 100 hits in five minutes during peak times. I have traced the origin of many of those IP's to China. I guess the Chinese are looking for something for nothing, since they can't actively gain it by buying it.
Menchise Posted August 6, 2001 Report Posted August 6, 2001 Yesterday, I got approximately 20 alerts per hour! Usually, I get less than that in a day, and I have noticed slight dips in the transfer rate, but nothing significant.
