Anybody want to read the Koran?

Go to the end to find sections dealing with specific issues.

There are verses in the Koran that refer to fighting, killing, jihad (struggle) etc. The decision to engage in such action has traditionally be taken by professional Islamic army chiefs governed by the four strict schools of Islamic jurisprudence called Maliki, Hanafi, Shafii and Hanbali, under a Muslim Caliphate where the Islamic rules of engagement are strictly enforced. Among such rules and regulations are those that completely forbid the killing of non-combatants, women and children, the destruction of property and agriculture.

Therefore Bin Laden and the Talliban are not true Muslims.

Exactly, religion gets given a bad name because of the people who use it as an excuse for their own goals.

I know my sister and her family dont believe in killing non-muslims or anyone else for that matter.

Yes, they do believe that in the textual sense. However, that's an issue all its own. Is it the same God simply by calling him the same or do the attributes differ so much as such is mere semantic reasoning?

The Christian God lays down the first law, the covenant. The the new covenant is given through Christ (as was prophesied in the OT). This new covenant closed out the old one.

Now, Islam would effectively be a THIRD covenant. The problem with that theistically is the fact that the new covenant and derivitive prophesy has yet to be fulfilled.

So, in theological practice, the Allah and God are two quite different entities.

Allah and God are two different entities only because the followers makes it so. And as I've been both Christian and a Moslem I would definately have to stick with my original statement that they are the same religion. The difference stems from edits by clerics and priests. It's like I tell you a story, then you tell it to someone else and so forth. After about a hundred times someone tells me the story again it would've changed way beyond any recognition. Besides nowadays religion is also mixed with traditional cultures of the race that practices it. Moslems are not supposed to believe in witchcraft but for some reason in Malaysia, Bomohs and other types of witch-doctors seem to crop up from everywhere. When I asked someone to explain this discreprency, they told me to STFU as it has always been that way and not to question it. Lets not also get me started with the difference between Catholics and Protestants. Who is right? For some reason this does not happen to Judism as far as I know. But this is probably due to the fact that it's practiced by only a few races.

Fundamentally they are the same. They are all merely revisions of Judism....nothing more. Archangel Gabriel was there for Moses, Jesus and Mohammad. He basically told them the same thing. How it was interprated by scholars are something else. Lets not forget Soloman, David and the rest of them too. All 3 religion mentions them.

I'm not gonna pretend to have a PhD in Theology, hell I'm far from it, I don't even believe. But thats the way I see it. Maybe one day when all three religion has been unified (possible) and all these partisan events have stoped, I will regain my faith. Until then I'll be what I am now.....

Doesn't Rastafarinism or whatever believe that blacks are superior to whites?

I didn't know that. The only thing I know about Rasta is the 'praying' bit if you know what I mean. Besides it's all legal now.

I think you find that God and Allah are one and the same. The arabic people are said to be descended from Ismael (I think, this being dragged up from the far reaches of my memory). They also see Abraham as the father of their people and recognize Jesus Christ as a prophet, though NOT the Son of God. Unfortunately, I think radical muslims don't BELIEVE they are one and the same God. Therein lies the problem.

The Koran is more similar to the Tora than the bible, ie an interpretation as to how to lead your life and worship your God. Or something like that.

I really should do more research on stuff like this.

Just a point about killing in the name of your God, Catholics and Protestants slaughtered each other in 1000s in the Middle Ages in Europe, in the name of God. Even the KKK and ultra-prods in NI today consider the Pope the Antichrist and Catholics as the hordes of Hell themselves.

Wholesale slaughter in the name of religion is nothing new.

I also saw an Islamic website explaining why the Taliban form of Islam is a perversion on true Islam. It quoted Koran verses which state that 'Compelled' religion is not true religion and is in fact counter the teachings of Mohammed himself.

Another disjointed ramble from Paddy's shitty work Mac

They're still at it now in the form of IRA and Ulster Unionist. But these guys aren't true terrorrists as they are almost always released to continue negotiations for peace in Northern Ireland.

Real terrorrists do not get to represent themselves in Parliment especially if they lie about weapon decomissioning.

Real terrorists do not call up 5 minutes before detonating bombs in public during peak business hour.

IRA are not terrorrists.....they are called Freedom Fighters regardless of any actions that they take.

If the IRA were true terrorrists Northern Ireland would have been carpet bombed just like in Afghanistan. They would never have had a political party representing them and would never have been released from prisons.

I am gonna say this real fast.......

the reason why suffering of good people is the crux of the christian church and why it is the most blasphemous thing in judaism is because judaism teaches that living a good life will result in great rewards, while in christianity jesus identifies with us is because he lived a perfect life and was crucified for it....

quick thoughts on islam, all the muslims i have known personlaly have been an extremely peaceful people, but the one thing that i don't understand is, if we have the backing of the arab league. arab world AND islam is a religion of peace why hasn't nato came out and asked the Arab nations to declare OSAMA BIN LADEN, AL QAEDA AND HIS SUPPORTERS INFIDELS???? of their own faith...

Also bin laden could not have read the quran, because mohammed when he waged a Physical Jihad, had strict, rulese, only fight on certain days, take prisoners, not kill innocent women children, or unarmed men.

a jihad is a struggle within one's self, but sometimes it gets out.
