So, did you meet up, or not? I always quote time GMT because we have commanders in all sorts of different time zones. You train him well, Zane, at whatever opportunity you can work out together (it doesn't have to be at the regular time, and could even be more than once a week, depending on your possibilities.) Do us proud in the next fleet match without me (not today but on the 5th of December), I should be able to get another regular training session in the day before the big tournament (which we currently qualify for seeded 4th, (If we do well in the next match we'll move up to third) but we'll need a valid team to participate in that)

OK, Dreada, that'll be your last chance to catch me in the ratings, since I won't be there. What about the scores from the last match? I know we agreed to scratch match 1, but what about match 2?

That's exactly what my first fleet match was like, before my lovely wife gave me a headset. It was quite a cool experience.

OK, next fleet training session is this Saturday (the 27th) at 1800GMT. This is most likely the last training session before I go away and the second last one I can make before the big fleet tournament, so youÔÇÖd better start coming so you can get trained up. If no-one is on server 2 or the ISS Teamspeak server by 1815GMT, then there will be no session, which would be a great shame. Zane will be unable to be at the fleet tournament, so IÔÇÖm going to need at least one other commander there for us to have a valid team, and IÔÇÖd much rather have a Commander who is ready and trained than one who doesnÔÇÖt know what he is doing in mp.

'Twas an unconventional evening, to be sure, but it bodes well for the future, playably smooth for two guys on 56K duking it out even with two other ships in the region. MP fleet matches just got a whole lot more interesting.

Match 2 yesterday was sweet. A textbook one on one engagement between me and Denny, both in Starcarriers, both on European 56K, no upgrades, no headstarts, playably smooth with our new ROE's, and a textbook result (for me, anyway ) I wasn't sure whether my armour was scratched by his main guns, or whether it was just me denting my nose ramming into him. Of course, that textbook is classified

I have an idea for an intel ROE, but it'll need to be tested and balanced.

I'm going away for 9 days in December, and will be most likely out of contact and unable to play from the 4th until the 13th of December. During that time Nick and Zane will be in charge.

Well, the intel aspect of ISS was always an rp thing, if that can be reflected in some good mp ROE's as well, then I'm all for it. Defence has always been about combat/policing, but is also privvy to classified Tactical intel, making them a fearsome force, ready to stop any threat to our most valued assets. The logistics/battle support/unconventional roles aspect is also more of an rp thing, so I'm agreeing with you, Zane. So, role specialisations are mainly for rp, but if those fleets can come up with some creative and functional ROE's to reflect those roles, then that can only be good for the mp experience as a whole IMO. However, any such ROE's must be properly tested and balanced before being used in an actual match to be scored.

Cedric, that's what I've been on all my life, and it hasn't restricted my mp performance too much (see here) Though I'm really looking forward to getting DSL soon.

If he canÔÇÖt make it, then he should say so in this thread. Zane can hold a training session at the normal time (1800GMT) if he is free and other Commanders announce their attendance in this thread. You're getting plenty of warning, so no excuses.
