Announcement: 2005 Season Begins April 1st
Ben Zwycky replied to a topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
Another altenative would be for fleet teams to count only their best four match scores in the month, so they still have something to gain by playing more matches in a given month, but I don't like throwing away match scores. This would only apply to teams, I prefer individuals to count all their matches. -

Not a penalty really just your average match score multiplied by 4, scoring as if you've played 4 matches. Just trying to find a way to allow all the galcom fleets to play 4 matches when there are too few opponents. The altenative is to ignore the alliances an dhave galcom fleets playing against each other, or for galcom fleets to start recruiting new commanders for the insurgents -
This situation with teamspeak is annoying me. The fleet servers seem to be always down or unlocatable. RipÔÇÖs TS server is on a fixed IP, so I have had no problems logging in there. All fleet members should PM Rip and tell him what username and password you would like to use, and he will register you an account on his TS server and PM you back a confirmation of your account details. ItÔÇÖs not set up specifically for our fleet structure like our fleet TS server, but it is reliable, and that is key for me.

look at the appendix Start>programs>Dreamcatcher>3000AD>Universal Combat>Docs>Manual appendix then when it's open, click on Missiles

So how's your team readiness looking?

I have a proposal for the fleet ladder, if it is possible to implement. Have the minimum number of matches per month set at 2 and no maximum, but teams (for example the Insurgents) who play more than 4 matches in a given month will have their overall score for that month reduced as follows: monthly total= total score in that month x 4/number of matches played in that month This only applies to teams that play more than 4 matches. Teams will not get rewarded for playing less than 4. This way every team has the chance to play 4 matches in a month, without necessarily violating fleet alliances and without one team amassing a much bigger score through playing more matches (though they will have the advantage of getting more match practice). This could also be applied to individual scores if you want, since if a fleet has more than one team, a given player can substitute on more than one team and play more than 4 matches in a month, but thatÔÇÖs up for debate. The ladder doesnÔÇÖt have to calculate this automatically, the point adjustment can be added manually by a scorekeeper as a penalty (or match loss) or something, if there is such a feature in the ladder package. What do people think? -
OK, I'll take a look (and work on my personal history sometime)

It has been brought to my attention that 1830-2100 GMT on Saturdays is not the ideal time for training sessions for most of you guys. An alternative regular time for me would be 1200-1330 GMT (when my boy have their afternoon nap), if that is not too early for those of you across the Atlantic. The same two times on Sunday are also a possibility, but once the season starts they might be taken up by fleet matches. As I have said before, if you guys in similar time zones want to meet up during the week at a convenient time for you to try things out, IÔÇÖm all for it. My only condition is that whoever acts as training officer at that session should send me a report afterwards saying what was practised/researched and anything of note that was observed/ how the trainees performed. That fair enough?

make that server 1, since it's running the new fleet mp patch.
-
OK, none of the teamspeak servers are working for me, except Rip's. I'll wait there and be on server 2.
-
Very nice, guys, keep it up! Oh, and miracles happen every day, you know
-
Next training session tomorrow (Saturday 5th Feb) at 1930 GMT (one hour later than usual) we have visitors again, but it shouldn't be a problem to make that time.

Looking to join a fleet!
Ben Zwycky replied to travia21's topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
Denny, you keen recruiter, you You're giving my mouse finger a nice workout in keeping up with you ISS is also actively recruiting, go here to join, here for info on our sigs and here to find out more about our fleet and waht it does, though most of what we do and are is in secret, and we have a whole world of secrets to manage and take advantage of. Later, -
A whole shiny new section of our website has gone online (there's still more to come in there, but it's worth taking a look) Spread the word

Fleet Leaders log 20:59 2nd February, 3015 Everything is still quiet, its making me nervous. Anyway, we received an intersting package from Galcom research, an improved radar system that is supposedly an order of magnitude more precise and responsive than our current systems, especially in a high-stress environment. Ill believe manufacturers claims when I see it for myself, butwere running it through its paces as we speak and if it works half as well as they claim, it will be a very welcome improvement. Fleet Leaders Log, Additional 21:58, 2nd February, 3015 Bad news. It seems the Insurgents had an inside man in Galcom labs and have the new radar too. So much for our new-found advantage. Still, itll make things more interesting should some action come our way End log come on guys, it doesn't have to be anything very long, you can do it!

We'd have to allow Galcom to play galcom until our enemies get their numbers up, say it's a sparring match to keep each other sharp, or part of a friendly tournament for teh pride of galcom . I know it's not ideal from an rp point of view, but what else can we do? -
As is ISS. Trust me, there is tons of stuff you don't know, and we have access to a lot of it

The only such penalty in ISS is if you take no part in any fleet activity at all for a month without giving a reason beforehand, and the penalty is 2000 EP. If you explain your abscence beforehand, for instance exams, temporary work pressures, family problems etc, then no penalty is exacted. -

I thought the ladder/challenge system as it was could handle any number of fleets as it stands ( or with very minor modifications) What problem am I missing? -
OK, great. If you can meet up with other ISS guys (or with guys from other fleets) in the week, to try out the new patch(es), that'd be appreciated.

Well, I'm sure an 'Insurgent All-Stars' team would be an acceptable starting point, at least. -
Sorry about that, the guests stayed about an hour longer than expected, way past the time their littlest one should have been in bed, bu you can't really say to someone you haven't seen in six months "could you leave now, I have to go and play" My apologies, I should have said 1930 GMT to be on the safe side.
-
You can always meet up with Rip or Krasus on a weeknight. Never mind.

I was hoping you'd say that :evil grin: Does this mean you can consistently field a valid team?
