LOL Scrivener! I agree. Why the heck did you go and tell me about the head shot animation! Now I know it was there, I'll always wonder what it would have been like. It's your game, you do what you need to do. But I have to say it would have added to the realism of an already very realistic game. Wait a second, you're the only one doing the final stretch of crunch mode? Good lord man! Are you insane? Do you sleep? Do you eat? I'd have left the rest up to some hapless fool and spent the last few days of crunch mode breathing fresh air!

Make a couple more posts and see what happens!

Apparently, Germany has some pretty strict laws about blood splatter in games and all that. ("Psst, don't mention the war!") I wouldn't want the SC to do anything that would stop someone from getting the game. But it would be good for those of us who can handle it to be able to enable it post release.

You don't have to micro manage the crew, but part of the game play is to keep an eye on them. Particularly the pilots. You don't want to find yourself in need of an interceptor right when the pilot needs to go off duty because they're exhausted. It's a rare situation, but it can happen.

Guys, there's no point in responding to Hal. He's just here to cause trouble. It's gonna happen more and more the closer the game gets to release and the more press is released about the game. If it hasn't already been done, I vote for instant banning of Hal. He's not here for discussion, he's just here to stir up crap. I'd like to see the thread continue though. It's a nice place to talk anticipatedly (?) about the game.

So what if BCM works with Radeon. What about other games? I just don't trust em. SC, how is it to work with Radeon from a developers point of view? Do you really care about ATI's driver history? Does it affect you in any way?

They've been promising better drivers since I had my last ATI card. (Around the time Duke Nukem was released.) They're a smart company because they make super cheap, high quality cards for the vast majority of computer users who don't give a darn about 3D. That is their forte. They are doing their best to capture and hold the 3D crown, and could possibly do it if the next card is cheaper than the NVidia card and has rock solid drivers. Personally I'm not going to assume they will. I don't care about what some tech head was able to make the video card do in some lab. I fell for that the last time. I want to hear, from gamers, that ATI finally has great solid drivers. Until then, I am sooooooo going to buy a NVidia card.

I'm with Ep 5 on the Canadian pricing. Ouch. Our cheap dollar is great when it comes to getting you Yanks to buy our manufactured goods, but turn things around and suddenly it kinda sucks. Oh well, I wasn't planning on buying food next month anyway. I can't believe the game is this close. I'm also with Ep 5 on the VCF. It's like... I dunno... the count down clock in Times Square. (Or the Atomic Doomsday clock, take your pick ) I don't check it every hour. Just every three hours. Seriously, checking the VCF is a part of my daily ritual. Has been for a while. When the game is released I think I'll actually miss it. It's odd I know, but it's like watching something grow. It's like someone planted a seed a long time ago and now finally it will flower and bear fruit. Tasting the fruit will be sweet, (oh will it EVER be sweet!!!) but watching it grow, well, it's an experience in itself. Suddenly I feel some philosophical rant coming on. I'll stop now. I'll end by saying, hey Epsilon, at least we can look forward to the VCF for GCO!!!

Last I heard, Interplay was in dire financial straights and looking for a buyer. Dunno if they found one yet.

Hmmm, seems to me that it's not impossible, just very difficult. I thought I'd add my 0.02 to the fray. It's funny, I too will miss the cockpit bitmap, but even that wasn't enough. There's a part of me that wants a 3d cockpit that I can walk around, talk to fellow officers, etc. etc. The danger of this kind of game, and something I don't think anyone has brought up yet is that when you tantalize us with this much depth, all we want is more. Not only do I want bridge chatter, I want to hear the same kind of bickering that happened between Bones and Spock. It would be great if when you land on some exotic planet, the finest, most beautiful alien woman would fall madly in love with you. It would be great if you could have a smell o rama device that would pump out the smells of a bridge of a ship. You could smell the burning circuitry of a damaged ship console. Bridge bitmap? Sure, okay. But Derek, if you could work out Tribble infestation into the code, that would ROCK!

Silk Looks to me like everything's a ok. Vaipa BC3k ver 1 won't work because it's a DOS game. ver 2.09 will work because it has windows support. Microsoft made it clear with the release of ME that they are leaving DOS behind. I don't have ME, but I know enough people who do and have had many issues with it. But if you like it, bully for you. Personally win 98 is stable enough for me to use until XP comes around. But that's just me.

Ah this one's easy. #1 Don't bother with Win ME. It may be a great OS, but XP is just around the corner. I highly doubt the lawsuits will be a challenge for M$ lawyers. Go with Win ME if you don't care about playing any legacy DOS games. XP should handle them fine if you do want to play them. #2 Maybe it's overkill, but if it was cheap, who cares. If I were you, I would have invested in a solid CD-R by Plextor. I just recently bought a cheap burner and if I don't run it at 4x it just makes coasters. If you don't need a burner, you did just fine. Don't sweat it. #3 If you have the money, buy a Geforce 3. There is no other choice. #4 You may be SOL. Check their Web site, they may have an update. If you've done this already, then you'll just have to wait until you change your OS to ME or XP. #5 Depends on what you want to do. Want to make movies, get a digital video camera and a firewire port. Want to edit high res digital images get a digital camera. Want to be able to wave to the lovely lady in Luxembourg who is scantily clad and taking your money, get a web cam. And there are tons of great scanners on the market. Why you want a paralel port scanner is beyond me. I'd go USB if I were you. Good, Fast and Paralel Port are not words that go together often.
