Everyone seems to assume the queen had nothing to do with it. Hmmmm.

I'm actually not looking at any release date. When it's done, it will be done. It looks like the team is really close, but more than anything, I want SC to be totally and completely satisfied that the game is ready to be released. He's double and triple checked everything, and he's happy. If that means it's released mid July, then so be it. (I actually want to upgrade my system to play the game, so the extra time I can use to sell anything of value to the highest bidder. I should get a good $0.75)

Wow, I never thought I'd see Aramike and Jaguar on opposite sides of... any debate. (Okay, you're not on opposite sides, but you get my drift.) Gun control laws make sense for the general population, but personally I'm beginning to think that the real issues with guns in a society have to do with things beyond gun legislation: How we deal with the mentally disturbed. How we deal with poverty. Rehabilitation of criminals. There are reasons why Switzerland and Austrian and Japan and many many other countries have low low crime rates. Partially it has to do with how much they restrict guns from the population, but it also has to do with the culture of the nation, social programs, general wealth, and satisfaction of the people. There are countries, many countries with NO gun control at all. In these countries, children cannot walk to school without fearing for their lives. Bands of criminals routinely murder the innocent without fear of punishment. You can have a country with no restrictions on gun ownership and use, or you can have a country with some rational restrictions on gun ownership and use. Which do you want your country to be? What do you want it to look like?

Wow. That was... Wow. Now I have something romantic to play at night to my wife to get us in the mood. "Infogrames rocks my world too, baby."

Hey, you put up a post that says USA vs Canada, and the Canucks are gonna go medieval on your patootie

Alright Ep 5 you win. You're right. I forgot about Omerta, and Fortier. I haven't seen Un gars, une fille and Buscotte, well, I guess it's okay. But for every Omerta, there is somewhere lurking a... Du Tac au Tac. (I hope I spelled it right.)

To be fair to our American cousins, here are a few things that suck about Canada. I love winter, the cold is great till about March. By April, you're ready to sacrafice a goat to get spring weather. We're responsible for all that David Foster music in the Eighties. We really do make some of the worst POS movies ever created by Mankind. Except for the French. A Quebecois film maker can make a great poignant movie. The English make films like... well, pretty well any film made by Atom Egoyan. (The Sweet Hereafter, The Adjuster, etc....) They pretty much all suck. Only our television programs are worse than our movies. We make a couple of okay shows. (Davinci's Inquest, Due South) The rest are ABYSMAL!!!! Blue Murder, The Associates, the City, The Red Green Show (it was funny for about five episodes) The Tom Green Show (Funny for about six episodes) The Air Farce (Funny if you're over forty), Sci Factor, Wind At My Back... the list goes on, and on and on. You'd think that the French would make better shows, and they do have a couple... Lance et Compte is a classic that's coming back next year. And of course La P'tit Vie is pee your pants funny, but they also make a show called Watatatow... very very VERY cheesy show. If you are American, you can be thankful that you have never, and will never EVER have to watch any of these television programs. EVER. Be thankful for every episode of Sienfeld. Give praise for Cheers re-runs. The worst episode of Baywatch is still waaaay better than our best television up here.

Menchise... I don't think you have to, but you probably should. From what I understand, TNT 2 isn't DX8 compliant. LordDavid, YOU FREAKIN LUCKY SON OF A GUN! (Caps lock off.) How is it? Are you happy with it? Feel like you got your money's worth? When did you get it? Any concerns?

The Canucks have hijacked the forum!!! Quick, run for your maple syrup!

Actually the whole gun control, Can vs US debate is a lot of hype. It's pretty easy to buy a gun here in Canada, you just have to be a little patient, have a clean criminal record, clean mental health check and that's pretty well it. You can fight for the rights of criminals and the insane to bear arms all you want, just don't expect my vote. And if you don't want to wait, the illegal gun trade is alive and well. You can get a gun here if you really need one fast. The chances are, however, if you need one fast, you're either a criminal or insane. The thing I like about living here is that carrying a gun around just isn't tolerated. It's just not acceptable. It's not something you can legislate, it's just an attitude. You can go into a bar and know that you don't have to worry. And the bars that you do have to worry about you can stay away from. There's less dire poverty, so there's less desperate people. I think the total number of shooting deaths here in Toronto was less than the number of people kill in car accidents. I like it this way, and I want to keep it this way. There is no place in Toronto I feel afraid of walking around, late at night. Well, that's not quite true, there are some dangerous spots, like in any city, but it's not like New York, or LA. Monreal feels even safer, you really can go anywhere, talk to anyone, you don't have to worry. I like that. I want Canada to stay like that. I'm a little worried that it won't, but I hope it does.

Does anyone know when the GF3 is coming out?
-
Soback, I've been keeping up with the version control file, and it looks like us Voodoo owners are going to take a real performance hit when it comes to visual quality. I am amending my advice... Get a Geforce. The game will play on a Voodoo card, but not in all its glory. I'm doing it. I'm going for a Geforce 3, or as I like to call it 'The video card whose value equals that of a trip to Paris.'

quote: I think it's a funny joke, and then Epsilon 5 turns political, wow, that's a bizarre concept. Oh Jag, Ep 5 is just being a proud Canadian. Fact is, we tell much worse jokes up here about Americans, and I'm sure there are a few jokes about (aboot?) us Canucks floating around down there. "C'est un joke tab#$%c! Reste tranquille."
-
And I just read in the version control file that there are some texture issues with Voodoo cards that are probably driver related. This is a Bad Thing. There ain't gonna be no more Voodoo drivers. Ever. I'm sure the game will run on a Voodoo card, but will it run optimally? Chances are, no. The game is DX8 compliant and any and all Voodoo cards are not. As I said before, if you can afford it, use BCM as a good reason to upgrade your video card. I'm saving up my pennies as we speak. By hook or by crook, I'm gettin a GF3! (Do any of you think I could convince my wife to buy one for me for my birthday? "Honey, wouldn't you love to spend $500 so that I could play games in 32bit colour, with 4x anti-aliasing and transform and lighting? I'd be on the computer all the time! All DAY LONG! WOULDN'CHA LOVE IT?!!!!)
-
Well, I just checked the faq and us Voodoo owners should be just fine. Make sure you read the faq once the game is released, it may change, but I doubt it will change much. If however you would like to use the release of BCM as an excuse to upgrade your video card, by all means, do. A G2 is a very affordable choice, personally, I'm going to hold out for a G3, but I'm sure it'll work just fine with what you have already.
-
Looking at the version control file, there may be a couple of issues, but they should be taken care of before release. The more I think about it, the more I want a G3 just to play BCM. I've been ignoring the Radeon because I've had driver nightmares in the past with other ATI products, but it would be interesting to hear from anyone with a Radeon card who's played the game. From what I hear, the Radeon is actually a contender against the G3, as a DX8 compliant card, but how does it play? Anyone?
-
Awwww.
-
Getting a GF2 right now would be a bit of a waste. The amount of time you will spend with it before you have to upgrade to a GF3 will be rather short. There are a few GF3 games ready for release later this year and any game worth owning next year will be DX8 compliant. Six months with a new video card, for me isn't worth it. Personally I'm gonna hold on to my Voodoo until the GF3 drops in price a bit later this year and scoop one up. But that's just me.
-
Voodoo 3 may run Dx8, but it isn't DX8 compliant. That means the card will not perform new functions inherent to Dx8. Those of us who still have Voodoo cards will soon have to toss them away. I'm holding onto mine only because I really can't afford anything else right now, especially a GF3 card that costs as much as some whole systems. I hate to sound like a freaking whinning bastard, but I knew 3dfx was going to screw up when they bought their fabrication plant and stopped licsensing technology. They had the world in the palm of their hands, and they BLEW IT. Say whatever you want about 3dfx, they took computer graphics a leap forward, and at the same time, provided very solid drivers and affordable products. So long 3dfx, wish you were here.

The real question is "Why the hell would you want to run Win 95 in the first place?!"

Foss is a very very lucky man.

If you're going AMD, you may want to wait a bit, they should have another chip released soon to counter the P4.

Yeah us Netscape users may need a little help, but the site looks cool otherwise!

I couldn't agree with you more Menchise, but the fact remains that if all drugs were legal, there could be a massive problem with social order. Take cigarettes. Not a huge mind altering drug, but still very VERY deadly. I smoked much longer than I should have. I've finally quit but it took a massive amount of soul searching and pain, and anguish. And that's just cigarettes. An industry that is heavily taxed and constantly sued by the government no less! Legalize Heroin, and imagine the lawsuits from families that have lost loved ones. With drugs like Cocain and Heroin, you have a potential for massive abuse, and once it spreads, it is incredibly hard to wipe out. I really wish there was an easy answer to this one, but I don't think there is. But the dialogue is good. It's important. (Actually legalizing pot is a no brainer. I think most people on this thread agree that pot is not in the same class as a narcotic.)
