  1. Have to say I've been quietly watching the devolopment of JKII for a while now, don't know about the two lightsabers bit. I just upgraded to XP at home and XP now runs Mysteries of the Sith (which win2K wouldn't) so I am currently playing through the Sith missions in preparation for JKII. I'm looking forward to JKII just hope I can free enough on my credit card to get it(and that my aging PIII will be able to run it )

  5. Favoutie Sci-fi's I have to admit I don't have many but here you go 1: Star Wars series(especially ep1 and 4) Ok I know alot of people really slated EP 1 but I really enjoyed it and Empire Strikes back just rocks. 2: The Matrix Great action - good story 3: Blade Runner The vision of the future is brilliant and still colors my adventures in Shadowrun. 4:Star Trek 2&6 The best of a somewhat medocre bunch. As you can see action based Sci Fi is my favourite Blade Runner being the only sort of step away from this.....

  8. Ok I've been reading this thread since it first started but never believed I had a good enough story to tell so I never posted but I did a ground op the other night I would like to share. New Career after patching up to 1.0.07 launching from Wraith HQ, Nightstar carrier, not sure what to do first so halted CC in orbit and found a nice insurgent base on the planet. Decided I'd go have a look so sent my AE to the transporter. Just after beaming down about 1 click from the base the "We have intruders on board" warning sounded so back to tacops - tactical assigned marines to search duty and back to my wandering. Spent about 20 minutes wandering around the base destroying radars and SAM stations I decided it was time to finish the base off and give my marines some combat trainging. Assigned marines to shuttles and OC's and assigned 10 to the transporter, readied fighters for launch setting waypoints to attack the ground defences remaining around the base, mean time I moved my AE out of the base to a nice hill within viewing range of the carnage. Sent my marines in first via the transporter ordering them to take out air defences and baracks, next came the fighters straffing the base from the air, last but not least shuttles dropped my OC's who rumbled through the base picking off targets of opportunity. The best thing about all this(sound like a standard ground op so far)? Is that me(my AE) watched the whole thing unfolding from the brow of a hill safe distance from the base and I have to say it was a sight to behold. I LOVE THIS GAME.
  9. quote:Originally posted by goaliejerry: yeah, when I hear all this talk about how stations are easy to beat, that must've been before the recent patches, cause the one time I tried attacking a starbase, I was cloaked, but as soon as I launched a missle, BOOM.Yea since the latest patches stations have got real teeth some strategy is definatly needed before attempting an attack/capture of a station. However I never realised that you could siege a station - learn something new every day/silly old me!!!!!

Starting to really get the hang of ground assaults using one aswell and finally captured my first station the other day. (of course it would help if I hadn't had three faulty hard disks in the last month ) Edit: Click my ship name in my profile for a nice Nightstar site.(note to self - self promotion is no promotion) [ 03-14-2002, 04:09: Message edited by: Emmett.hendrick ]
  11. quote:Originally posted by LordBane: Those are the drivers that came with the sblive winxp cd, and I have already checked my hard drive for errors, both in files and on the physical surface. Here is what I did just a minute ago and recreated the problem, I haven't reloaded yet to see if the save files are gone yet or not. Start new game, Play for 2 minutes, save & exit (calling the game SAVED GAME) Restore, works fine for several minutes. Exit Game, Restore (same game as before with out having resaved it) Locks up almost immediately after putting me on the bridge. I checked the save dirrectory in the BCM folder, and the only file there is Player.txt I bet my saves are gone again.I have a SBlive with windows XP and when I use Creatives XP drivers I have constant problems so I rolled back to using XP's WDM drivers and although I don't have EAX support now I'm having alot less problems I have ordered the XP drivers cd from creative and I will let you know how I get on with that.

  18. not a bad review all told but I would have one comment. Start of the review - Multiplayer: NONE Bottom of the review(downers section) - "Planetary Combat won't be interesting until Multiplayer is implemented" this is going to confuse some readers as to whethar BCM is/will be multiplayer as it is not mentioned anywhere else in the review.
  19. quote:Originally posted by DREADA: Emmett, Haven't you seen the news? Things are looking up for us UK-ians, thats if you aren't already a broadbander with of our other 'few' providers. So looks like we may be in time to get a shot at BCM-MP afterall! Yea saw the news last night that BT had dropped prices for ADSL, however that presents me with one problem I don't live in the UK. Eircom is the national provider over here and they have not even released ADSL over here yet there was an aborted launch last year but the price was ridiculous (about Ôé¼150 per month AFAIK). So the government stopped them from releasing with such a high sub price but Nothing has been heard from them since about it. So I'm stuck on 56K V92 connection for the forseeable future *Shudders* the only time I get a decent connection is when I am in work(10mb leased line YES!!!!!) but I can't play games in here..... 20. quote:Originally posted by Akuma Minako: Uhh..Omg....Umm....Nice....Dial up connection...Good...Uhhhh Dial up connection...Hey some of us don't have a choice over here the average choice for home Access is either 56K or ISDN(both of which require paying for your phone calls). ADSL is a while off(The national provider was supposed to provide it but they were charging to much and the launch was pulled no sign of it re-surfacing) So the only option is a leased line which a hideously expensive and out of reach of nearly ALL home internet users. So have pitty for all us poor souls Stuck on 56K some of us dream for more but it is just out of our control
  21. Thats great news Oban Glad your daughter is on the mend.
  22. Gez Orthae All the best get well soon As the Brits would say keep a stiff upper lip
  23. I like Andromeda - unfortunatly I missed pretty much the entire second series due to work commitments but I'm looking forward to the next series. I agree Tyr is a good character but he does tend to over act abit now and again IMHO. Otherwise its shaping up to be a fine series.
