  1. OH yea, almoust forgot. I want a game that I can play again and again. Not something I will beat and throw in the box. So does STBC have any replay value? Well? Does it?
  2. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Frigging cool!! Get it!! Man, I'm so glad they didn't botch this. The graphics aren't anything special, but they get the job done. And once you've played it. Just think, in about 18 months, you'd have an entire ship - an entire ship - to command. An entire ship? That sounds great, but I also want some fighters, land on planets, and be able to be FP in space. Wonder if that will be in ST Bridge Commander.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Grayfox: quote:Originally posted by Supreme Commander: In which case station lasers in 1.0.06 are going to hurt. A lot. Especially since each shot now has a damage value of 2500 units (up from 150) and a sustained lifetime (the time it remains visible and slices in a given direction) of 1000ms (up from 250ms). Which means that for each ms that beam is on the target, it will cause a damage of 2500 units. Enough to completely destroy a fighter in one single pass. As for armor+shield, those two have been beefed up. e.g. GHQ how has a rating of 25000/35000 respectively. *Fox starts jotting down names for his "death list"* *Joins Fox to punish those on his "death list"*
  4. Yeah, I think you are actually right. I come here every 2 to 3 days and usually there's a ton of new messages to read which takes me a good part of an hour or two. Today I went through the board in 15 minutes. But then again. In some ways that's a good thing. Less bugs, less meaningless posts and I guess SC spends less time checking this board and more time on XP1 and other things he is doing (which is a good thing). But wait till XP1/2, boards will be on fire again, and BCO (which I am constantly thinking about) will be a HUGE hit. I predict a need for a couple of new posting areas once BCO is out. It will be awesome too.
  5. Ok, maybe I am way out of the loop here, but wasn't there supposed to be a release of multiplayer patch for Civ3 a little later after the games release? I visit their official site ( www.civiii.com ) once a month and there seems to be no changes to it whatsoever. What's going on? Has the multiplayer been droped? Then why don't they just come right out and post it? Or are they still working on it? Again, why don't they just come right out and post it. I mean it's f...ing so upseting when the company promisses something and then keeps quiet for months. No updates on progress, or maybe they just decided to scrap the project and instead of saying so they just might sit there all quiet and hope you forget about it. On another note. Since Civ3 made me so upset right now, I just want to vent and give some credit to SC. This is exactly the reason that I love 3000AD, not only does SC keep us in the loop, gives us updates almoust every 2 weeks, but he delivers on what's promissed, and in rare instances when something gets cut (ex. TCAS) he comes right out and says that, which is MUCH better then hearing about it MONTHS later or not at all. Anyway, all that civ3 made so p.oed right now I feel like crashing a baseball bat on ......
  6. quote:Originally posted by Emmett.hendrick: I believe I remember SC talking about this before Afaik NPC ships damage is limited to 4 areas where as player ships have alot more damage areas I believe it was done to reduce the processing power required during larger battles.(Can you image the processing power required to track an monitor the damage to lets say 10 ships if they all had the same damage levels that pc ships have?)SC can do it So maybe we will see CTAS in BCM or one of the XPs (x - fingers).
  7. Also, all the things mentioned above aside, consider this. SC puts time in to make this game. He has only so many hours to spend on it, but a gazzillion things to put in. So, does he decide to tweak those turrets arcs to perfection so that they shoot in the right and realistic direction or does he spend the time to program the newtonian physics and then more time to make sure AI uses them right and doesn't fling itself all over the place. So take your pic, what would you take out and what would you leave in. On the other hand don't, because what you would want is not necesarily what others would want, and don't forget, SC is ultimatly the one who decides. So on one hand maybe it would be nice to see a trully newtonian flight model, or a relaxed version of that model, or maybe some wacky off the wall way to fly, but then something else doesn't make it in, and SC already has his own wishlist which is a mile long. So take a number, or rather don't, just kick back and enjoy the game.
  8. Well, simple answer is don't wanna wait --> don't get damaged. A proper answer is, it's just the way it is right now, game runs in real time, and the outside world processing stops when you are docked. Also, keep in mind that this will be "plugged" in when mp comes out and even if you are docked outside events will be processed, so later on be really carefull docking to the station when hostiles are around, you just might never undock again.
  9. If he would have title one of his topicks "joystick" I would have said nothing, but since it's a "joy stick" to him then......
  10. "joy stick" (insert your reaction here)
  11. I think that it's all bull. I mean consider the frost on the mb and all around the cpu, if it wouldn't crack because of temperature difference it certainly would short out as the frost at the very edges of the frost ring would melt.
  12. Yep, ditto.
  13. LOL, Oh no, I am going to blow up. C-A-N-T STOP LAUGHING>
  14. Ok, Joe. I have never done this, but just to see if you are serious. If you register the game and post the system profile information link in your signature, I will personally take time and clearly explain things to you that you are having problems with. What I will tell you will clear up 95% of things you have posted that you dislike. So if you want to take me up on that offer, register the game, place system info link in your sig, and send me a private message.
  15. By the way. You also need to balance out what is best for your family in the long run. If you know that when you get out of military you will make more money than you would be making if you got some civillian job and stayed there for 5 years and that joining right now will make things better 5 years down the line, then by all means do it, but if you can get in on some job, and in 5 years make more money then it's better to get that job, the plusses in this case are not only financial but you get to spend a lot time with your family and that's very important. The best time to join military is 18 to 22 and if you don't have any commitments in your civillian life (wife, kids, parents that rely on you for support... ect...) So that's my opinions. 16. What I think is if you have a way to provide for your family without going to military then do it. You will be at home more, and actually raise your children instead of seeing them between assignments. If you would join the military before you got married and had kids then it would be better to stay and maybe make a career out of it, but now, you have family, think of them first. That's why I never posted in the other thread, congradulating you about signing up. My opinion was and still is, family first, if you have a way to provide and be there as much as possible, then do that, military would be the last choice.
  17. A hobby is what keeps people sane on this earth. It's an outlet to get in touch with oneself, to release some stress, and to relax. So, some people go to the gym religiously, some hike everyday, some assemble model planes, some play games. So tell your missus that if you don't get a new computer you will go nuts, literally.
  18. Yeah, see how nice I was. I even provided the link.
  19. quote:Originally posted by Thermidor: This will probably indicate my "newbieness"..but who's Resnig? From the commentary here he's beginning to sound a lot like Arnold Rimmer from Red Dwarf. Crank open your BCM manual to page 54. See the mugshots? Look at the top third mugshot from the left, that's Resnig. Lean, Mean, butt of all jokes machine.
  20. If you guys like the game so much why don't you take a little time and properly register it, then place a link to your system profile information in your signature. Read this for instructions on how to do it.
  21. quote:Originally posted by Malkuth: Ok SC your right that makes sense fine. But Im not in the gravity pull of the planet when I left HS. And if thats also the case why doesnt the Enemy ship fall into the Gravity too? Was playing all after noon and it happened again at pluto. Pain in the butt. I was not anywhere near the planet when I came out. In fact the enemy ship was Beyond the Pluto Space Station. But I did HS through it again. And ended up getting damaged again. To prove to you that you are in planets gravitational pull. Reload the game you have saved, or next time when you HJ to a ship that is close to the planet, take this steps. 1. HJ to the ship that is close to the planet. 2. While in HJ, target the planet/moon that the ship is close to. (so that you can see the distance to the planet) 3. When you exit HJ, if you are within 150 clicks or closer to the planet you will get pulled in.
  22. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Its not a bug. That state is not saved. Why would it be? Why would anyone want to save the game during a HJ? And if you've jumped, you've used up the Radine. Whats the problem exactly? [ 12-18-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] Ok, lets put it this way. Everytime I save and exit the game, and then reload I get a decrease in Radine. Ex. I save the game at 14:05 with 1000 Radine. I reload and will have about 950 Radine. I fly around not making any HJ, save the game at 14:10 with 930 Radine, I reload the game and will have about 870 left. So everytime I save, reload the Radine goes down enough for one HJ. That's what I was trying to say. -------------------------------------------------- SORRY, I was able to replicate this occurance everytime yesterday. All I needed to do was save/exit, reload. I tried it today and everything is working fine. [ 12-18-2001: Message edited by: Soback ]
  23. Problem/Bug? 1. Make a HJ. 2. As soon as you exit from HJ, save and exit the game. 3. Reload the game and notice that your engines have been recharged instantly to 100%. It wouldn't be so bad if it only drained Radine to recharge the engines, but the problem starts if your engines were completly recharged and you saved and exited, when you reload you will notice that you will be missing the required ammount of radine needed to recharge your engines. The way I noticed it is I had 300 radine crystals, and saved and reloaded 4 times in about 15 minutes, ended up at less than a 100 radine and haven't made a single HJ. So I did a little experiment and noticed that reloading the game takes away the ammount of radine necessary for 1 HJ even if your engines don't need recharging.
  24. Come on people. It's me and Urza there.
  25. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Dunno what you're talking about. That code was never modified. If its not in the VCF, it wasn't touched. Ok, but still, he doesn't counter my orders anymore, and he used to. Although it might have something to do with the fact that his AI is 24.
