Here are my results: quote:Originally posted by Grayfox: i downloaded the save game, followed the directions to the letter, and all 4 shuttles retrieved their respective drones without a hitch. however, when they went into RTB mode, and when the first shuttle was about to dock, i got a CTD. so i tried again, following the same instructions, and i got a CTD when the third shuttle extracted its drone. i double checked to make sure ALL my drivers were up to date (vid, mobo, sound, bios etc), and they were. Did exactly the same with the similar results. After first load all shuttles RTB'ed and I got a CTD either after the third shuttle docked or just when the fourth docked (they docked only a second or two apart) Second try gave the same result (deleted save games first and re-unzipped them again). both times I restored the game. When I tried to resume the game, my machine froze after loading (heard comm chatter for about 5 seconds and then everything froze) I noticed that the load took unusually long (just a feeling though) so I started a new game and deployed all drones on moon 2. Then saved the game, quit bcm, restored the game and extracted the drones. This time I didn't get a problem at all and the restore was about 5 or 6 times faster. Just changed my nvidia drivers to 23.12 (will update my profile when I finish this post. Otherwise it is up to date. Reinstalled win2k, drivers and bcm and applied the full 1.0.05 patch last weekend. "the CONCEPTS behind Windows were born at Xerox". we use Red Hat, and indeed it does require you to imput your vertical refresh rate.Hmm, so do I. As far as I know, the latest RH version that asked me the refresh rate for the X server was about 5.2. RH7.2 (and 7.0 for that matter) does not ask that question during the standard installation procedure. EDIT: don't know about RH6.x, since we skipped those versions. we upgraded 5.2 -> 7.0 [ 02-11-2002, 06:38: Message edited by: Riga ]

What I'd like to do in multiplayer
peterkist replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Battlecruiser Series
I would like to take on the role as a trader in a LRT-15. Being protected by people I trust (intercorp ) I travel the known and less known traderoutes in order to gain a credit or two. heh, sounds like cannon fodder to me Meanwhile negotiating with the galcom fleets to gain access to the parts of space they control in order to get safer passage and get some new and trusted friends in the process (suddenly Orion and Prime pop to mind ). Hopefully after some successfull trips between the starstations do some shutteling of goods for some planetbound bases. Then back up and help some fleet that is in desperate need of goods and supply them in a more challeging ride (naturally protected by their forces ) Well, that's a short story, but hopefully many, many hours of gameplay. EDIT: suddely the station commands carreer pops to mind Thats nice. Now pop it right back out, because there are no new careers in BCM. [ 02-07-2002, 16:38: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] -
quote:Originally posted by Papi: There's changes that are mentioned in the beta version control and released version control files that you can refer to changes vs. GBS I. I've made few scripts with it already and I think if you have experience with GBS I you can handle GBS II in some degree too.Forgot to mention those VCF's . I do not have a lot of experience, I just made some scripts to get a feeling for it, but actually, since I got bcm, I seldomly start bc3k anymore. Somehow bcm appeals more . That basically is why I want GBS-II. Not because it can do more than GBS-I but since I can use it with BCM instead of bc3k. My only second thought would be that releasing it without docs would probably mean that a lot of _unnecessairy_ questions might be asked on the forums. Don't think anyone is very keen on answering those type of questions... But let's not keep that from releasing GBS-II on that account From my experience, using a mix of GBS-I docs (+VCF) and example scripts that are provided, you can get quite a lot going. I spent an evening reading the supplied docs and examples and started to experiment. In a few hours I got some vessels doing some kind of tasks. Nothing that you could call a scenario, but more like a few 'feasibility studies'. [ 02-12-2002, 10:11: Message edited by: Riga ]

If the GBS-I docs are sufficient to start with (I created a few scripts with help of those docs, and encountered little problems), then I'd welcome GBS-II. Anyhoo, if any problems arise that cannot be derived from existing sources (GBS-I and the forums), then there's always help to be found right here on the forums. just my 2 ct.

"Mutual protection Union"

Just try to read (and understand) the Organization tread (I know, it's a long read, about 9 pages). Most of the 'resistence' you encounter here is already discussed in that thread. And while you're at it... Also read the other related threads (Economics 101 pops to mind ) Heh, actual competition. me like... [ 02-06-2002, 12:02: Message edited by: Riga ] -
Creating a Fleet
peterkist replied to CommanderJohnson's topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
quote:Originally posted by Gallion: Indies are not "Fleet" - period. You want Fleet status - join a Fleet. One never knows what the SC has up his sleeve for you indie types TTFN We eagerly await what the day of tomorrow will bring I do not consider us indies a fleet, even if we get ourselves organised. It's just that, an organisation where people get together, conduct business or just have a chat without shooting the other... So if I call Intercorp fleet-like I refer to the hierarchy of members upto directors, but since it is not based on authority (but on experience) it is definitely not the same. Might have used the wrong terminology here -

quote:Originally posted by Badgerius: A note to indies. Unless I'm mistaken (someone jump in and correct me if I am) being affiliated with InterCorp counts as being a member of a fleet. The reason that the various divisions banded together was to gain fleet status and therefore access to the fleet servers. We are considered by some as being 'fleet like' (in terms of organisation), but SC never approved it so it's not official. Don't know how this would affect indies getting access to the fleet servers. If you are right, then I guess that we have to many fleet leaders (i.e. directors) as compared to the fleets . -

would like to join a scientists group
peterkist replied to spaceadmiralx's topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
quote:Originally posted by spaceadmiralx: hi....not really sure how to go about this, i'm a bcm player who enjoys non-combat castes like scientists/explorers, any like-minded fleets i can join out there? There are 3 choices: 1. fleet (combat castes) 2. Intercorp (independents, mixes combat/non-combat castes) 3. independent (you're on your own ) As you don't like option 1, your choice is limited to either Intercorp or starting a carreer of your own. Intercorp is an organisation that bundles the forces of traders/mercenaries/assassins/commercial caste, etc. For more info on Intercorp have a look at the intercorp website. We do not have a explorer/scientist division, but you might find it benifical to join intercorp anyway. It's a way of getting contracts, protection and a lot more in a fairly easy manner. I think there are other scientists/explorers out there, but they currently choose to be indies, not tied to any fleet/corporation. just drop me a line if you have any questions -

Primecomp Norrad IV UCV Monitor II(droidan/scientist) The fleet database is closed until multiplayer is out (then it will be re-opened). Until then, I guess that someone just has to take your details. I think that Charles or Gallion are the appropriate persons to approve it. Maybe just post your registration here (like your name, caste, Name of your vessel, etc, PM me if you need any details on that) (Charles, Gallion, help me out here... Any other ideas?) quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Jeffery Eu: Looks good Riga. weel, needs more work. For one I really need to implement pre-loading of the pictures. Might try that tomorrow, but didn't have the opportunity yet. On another note. I get the harddisk for the server on the 26th (nice christmas present ) so I can start installing linux on it. Don't hold your breath, it will not be up and running before the end of Januari, but its a start (no more banners ). Then I can also start programming (d*rn provider does not permit that...)

The intercorp site has been updated. It now contains the charters that have been posted earlier.

quote:Originally posted by Stephanos: I guess it would not work... mmmhhh let me see, with all those change of hours... Let's say I watch the 1st movie in London at 3pm, it will finish around 6pm, then to the airport by 7pm. Take off with concorde around 8pm, get to NY JFK at around 5.30pm. Custom and security check and find a cab. Should be in Manhattan by 7.30pm. Watch 2nd time LotR. Finish around 10.30pm. Back to airport, take off around 1 am next day! Nope, it would not work! I would arrive in London on the next day, even with concorde. Ok, take it from there, take off at 1 AM, arrive in London at about 9 AM, customs etc, and you can be in the theatre at around 11 AM, movie finishes at 2 PM. Seen the movie three times within 24 hours Guess it depends on your perspective of _when_ a day starts -

quote:Originally posted by Stephanos: Ok, I've got my air-ticket! And this is my plan: 1) Fly from Milan to London. 2) Get a Cab to the first movie theater showing LotR. 3) Watch the movie. 4) Loving it!! 5) Get a cab to go back to airport. 6) First Concorde to NY, go go go! 7) After landing in NY get a cab, quickly to Manhattan. 8) FInd a movie theater showing LotR. 9) Watching it for second time in a day! 10) Get a cab to the arirport. 11) Fly back to Italy. Now: I would be the first (and probably only) one to watch LotR in two different continets on the same day! Why not: 10a: Fly back to London 10b: Find the same movie theatre as mentioned in 2. 10c: watch the movie for the 3rd time that day 10d: get in a cab and head back to the airport 11: fly back to italy -
