Is it just me, or are SC's post getting more frivolous, the closer we get to Gold? My God, that man needs a long, long vacation

Will we be able to SAVE at any point in the full game ?
Põdi replied to JAY's topic in Battlecruiser Series
Actually, I'd never heard of BC3K until I got a mail shot from EB about BC:M. I have downloaded the free version, but haven't played it much as I'm waiting for BC:M. So there -
OK, I will raise my ugly head, without screwing it up this time, I hope. That is probably the most succint, honest appraisal of the Afghan situation I have heard. There are 25 million people in Afghanistan, with a annual pro capita income in the region of £500. There is little infrastructure, woman aren't allowed to work, be educated or even drive. On top of that they are currently suffering a drought. Where will they get the means to overcome the Taliban, with no food and no access to weapons? I see the assassination of Massoud (the leader of the loose Northern Alliance) the weekend before too much of a coincidence. This was a man who brought together disparate tribes to resist the Taliban, and was seen as a figurehead for them all. Without him, it is possible the Northern Alliance could collapse and with it any hope of a Western ally on Afghan soil. The Afghan people are not responsible for their leaders and should not be made to suffer because of them. I think the lack of any immediate response is exactly the right thing. Let people calm down and let the investigators do their work. Lets pinpoint those responsible and slowly whittle away at their resources and personnel till they no longer possess the ability to do this again. It will take some time and may go largely unseen, but it is the only way while still retaining the moral high-ground. Their is a lot antipathy towards the West in the Middle-east and beyond, you have to tread a very fine line to avoid that antipathy turning into malicious hatred. Remember, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait the UAE are important western allies. How long will they remain so if a massive action is taken against Afghanistan? There, hope I haven't pissed any one off this time and Jag, I hope you got my email. Peace [ 09-19-2001: Message edited by: Paddy Gregory ]

The fact I was in Prague this weekend was entirely coincidental.........

Now that the time is nigh upon us when BC:M will finally be delivered, I was curious as to how people will play it once they get their sweaty, trembling paws upon it. Will you start off a single roam career as a commander and play that exclusively; start several roam careers as a commander, pilot, marine etc etc and try them all out; play the 2 ACMs then hit roam; play the ACMs and roam simultaneously or, or.......my God the list is endless. Whatever you choose, I'm sure it will keep you busy enough for the next few years........

FINAL WARNING [ 09-12-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

You know JJ, you're right. I hate what the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians, yet it chills me to the bone to see Palestinian children celebrating in the streets of Nablus... Sources close to Bin Laden have claimed he is not behind this, believe them if you want, but if ISN'T him, then we have one hell of a task on our hands trying to find out who is responsible. What's frightening is that these guys only had Stanley knives (box cutters). In retrospect, it really wouldn't take much for a bunch of determined nutters to hide such knives in their hand baggage and.....well, you all know the rest. It really makes me shudder.

This is a declaration of war ON ALL HUMANITY, not just the USA and it is up to the world community to find these people. I'm sorry Jaguar, but talk of any nuclear weapons is totally ludicrous and not worth comment . The Taliban my harbour Bin Laden, but they probably have no control over his movements or actions, such is his power and are probably embarrassed at their connection with him. The explosions in Kabul are almost certainly the work of the Northern Alliance in revenge for a failed assassination attempt on their leader at the weekend. Lets get the mourning out of the way then get down to the business of finding the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.

It's just bloody awful! I saw it on Yahoo! about 3pm (CET) and phoned my wife. Her brother's girlfriend works next door to the Trade Centre, we could get any news about her for hours, but luckily she is OK. Just 2 points: look no further than Bin Laden as your culprit; only he has the resources to pull off such an act, and we should strike back ASAP; secondly, what kind of security allows 4 planes to be hijacked almost simultaneously? Didn't Gore try and get internal flight security tightened up, but the airlines refused? Anyway, my heart goes out to all those who perished and their families. I went to a local hockey game this evening and we had a minute's silence. That's how far this reaches into people's hearts.

Last time I said that to an American, he didn't hve a clue what I was talking about and thought I asked him if he was taking a piss. Anyway, the mouse look stuff seems pretty cool. I like the idea of using a mouse button to turn it on and off, rather than fiddling around with the keyboard.

The '200m' part, actually.

Just spotted this in the VCF: quote: The longer you hold the grenade key, the farther it can be thrown (up to 200m). 200m??? Are people a lot stronger in the future? That is one hell of a long way, I could (a long time ago) through a cricket ball maybe up to 70 - 80m on a good day, but 200m? Does this include the boouncing distance as well? I know it's only a game etc etc, but still.....

Isn't the guy who played Adama (sp?) dead? Won't that make it a little tough? Then again it didn't stop them making half of Gladiator without Olly Reed (RIP). From my memory, the original show was shite, partly because of the awful acting. So not to use any of the original cast is a BIG step in the right direction. IMHO.

No, there is a utility to do just that without having to bugger about with the OS. I had to do it a while ago after I got a bad version of DX7 from a CD-ROM. Unfortunately I can't for the life of me remember where I got it or what it's called. I don't have it anymore after my old harddrive died on me a few months ago.

Sod all those fleets. Be an Indy! Sounds like your character doesn't know where he belongs so making a few bucks here and there wouldn't go amiss. Poor ship control? I suggest being a trader or explorer so maybe get in touch with Riga.

I think the next big breakthrough in nanotechnology will be the development of subcellular-sized molecular machines. However, since these would be custom-designed, non-immunogenic polypeptide chains it will be a few decades yet before we get there, as we don't even know the structures of the majority of our own proteins yet. The neatest thing I've seen recently is that someone designed a DNA species to act as a set of molecular 'tweezers', which under certain conditions would change conformation and bind another DNA molecule.

Do you provide them with a details of the game content and they make a decision based on that, or does someone from ESRB actually play some of the game and make their own judgement (much like film censors)? BTW thanks for the continuing VCF updates, the WIP section just got slashed in the last one

quote:Originally posted by Billy Bob: The movies to wait for are Matrix 2 and Lord of the Rings. Nay on the first, yay on the second. Never saw the Matrix at the cinema, but have watched it a couple of times on satellite. Was pretty disappointed (then what should I expect from a film with Keanu 'Wooden' Reeves anyway?). The concept was interesting and the effects were pretty good, but the meat and drink of any film ie the acting was pretty stilted and unconvincing. The Lord of the Rings , however, I am very much looking forward to. I love Tolkien and the cast is pretty impressive. It will be interesting to see how the hobbit-human interactions are done as well. Another film I'm interested in seeing is Harry Potter, OK yes I'm 32, but I love those books!

A few months after we moved to Switzerland, I found a kitten, a very sick kitten, in the farmyard where we used to live. Like yours, riddled with flu and weeping, infected eyes. The works in fact, just like yours. He was also about 6 wks old and just skin and bone. Well we took him in, bottle fed him throughout the night for a week or so. needless to say he survived (minus an eye) and turned out to be a bloody brilliant cat called Clive, he would respond to whistles, leap from the floor into your arms, sit on my shoulders etc. Moved house twice with us, disappeared for weeks on end and came back etc etc. Now the ungrateful little bastard buggered off about a year ago and has shacked up with a girl (single, reasonably attractive ) who lives in our complex. What I'm trying to say is that he will survive, but whatever you do for him, he won't thank you for it and will sod off as soon as the surroundings aren't to his liking (in our case it was the kids). I hope he pulls through for you, just don't expect any thanks.

OK, here goes: Disorder Rating Paranoid Low Schizoid Low Schizotypal Low Antisocial Low Borderline Low Histrionic High Narcissistic High Avoidant Low Dependent Moderate Obsessive-Compulsive Moderate I know I'm fantastic and all, but that is just plain silly. Histrionic, me? No, not at all, why think that? I never lose my temper, it's everyone else around me is screwing up, they're just bloody plain incompetent......
