Hmmm, now it won't run under Win98. I can start a game, log out and quit the programme. Not being an avid RPG fan, I can't say I've paid much attention to this title in the past, but I've been picking my way through a few previews and I must admit it looks highly intriguing. I like the idea of free-form gameplay centered round a basic premise. With such a large playable area and extended character and skill development, it seems to offer almost unlimited gameplay (à la BCM, of course) which is, I think, what stirs my interest. Anyone else looking forward to it? Funnily enough, I'd never even heard of the Elder Scrolls series until a few weeks ago, now I'm looking forward to one of it's titles. This one has me stumped....... As you can see from my profile, I have just put together a new system, which is a dual-boot Win98se / WinXP (home) on 2 separate HDDs. I can play the game no probs whatsoever from 98, but in XP, I get a similar problem which Dredd reported a while back; I get the BC:M intro screen and then nothing. I d/l the CDROM drivers and Mobo chipset drivers as recommended, but no change. BC:M was installed under 98, but this shouldn't be a problem should it? I did install it under XP also, but the same thing happened. FYI, I have upgraded (for the time being) to the 28.32 drivers in XP. I'm not sure whether to keep them yet or not. I'm going to make a few points here, the probably run away. Very quickly. Thirdly, Sharon is detested by Palestinians as they hold him directly responsible for the massacres in the Beirut refugee camps in '82. I don't condone suicide bombers, neither do I condone the use of tanks, or the fact that wounded Palestinians must share an ambulance with the dead because the Israelis will only let one ambulance through at a time.

That's what I thought and, from what I gather, more or less what MS told him. It's a retail version BTW, not OEM, which makes it easier methinks?

Hate resurrecting old threads, but I'm in the process of putting together a new PC, on which I will install WinXP home (upgrade). I'm getting a copy from ebay for £40, but the guy who's gonna sell it had already registered it. He said he'd spoken with MS once he removed it from his PC and that all I needed to do was contact them once I'd installed it and they would transfer the license to my PC. Question is: will I have to buy a new EULA and how much will it cost? 2nd question is how can MS verify that he has removed the OS from his PC? Hope you can help with my confusion (and ignorance). He doesn't *seem* dishonest, but you never know.....

I think I might pick it up. Jedi Knight was the second game I ever bought, so I have very fond memories of the series. And once I build my new system, it'll rock!

Interesting (and rather surprising) that Descent Freespace sold nearly twice as many copies as Freespace 2.

I actually preferred the original Battlezone from '98 (?). Couldn't quite get into BZ2. I think it's a very sensible revision. Let's face it, castes restricted to non-cloaked CCs (assassin, merc etc) have NO BUSINESS capturing or destroying SS or ODS (even though we all did ). They are there to take out individual craft or crafts. Not bring down the Gammulan Empire for God's sake! (mmm, thinks, maybe someone will give me a contract to take out the Gammulan War council?)

Had an interesting thing happen to me the other day; was trying to capture a station in my Garid, but of course went over the top and destroyed it instead . A cargo pod appeared on the radar, so I sent a shuttle to retrieve it. Minutes later, the shuttle still hadn't reached it and wasn't moving. Zoomed in on it, and it stuck in the station superstructure (stupid marine). Wouldn't even RTB. The only thing I could do was to park my CC as close as possible, get out and jet pack over and fly the shuttle myself. Something else happened just after that. i was trying to capture a Credian Merc station (as an assassin), but again ended up destroying it. I checked my experience points, and it had gone way in the negative! It wasn't a friendly or neutral station, so why the slap on the points front? I'd captured or destroyed neutral staions before, but earned points for them.
