  1. Well, E5, I must say that's pretty dissappointing to see you got all that stuff warez. In my opinion, if you don't have the money, you have no business even considering buying the game/application or whatever. Pirates and warez stinks. Period.
  2. Just to say it's all running much more stable now. No CTD's or lock-ups, I had it running overnight to do some mining. Shame about the shuttles though, was never very good at keeping an eye on my radine levels and used shuttles quite a bit.
  3. Switzerland also has mandatory military service, but go to any bar in a town during bootcamp and the place is full of them. Most guys I know say the only thing they learnt was how to smoke dope and gamble . There is talk of switching over to a fully professional, volounteer-only armed force. Whether the Swiss electorate will agree to that is another thing.
  4. JelloKing, why don't you post this in the 'General Discssions' forum? I posted a question about formatting in there and got a lot of offers for help.
  5. That seemed to fix it. Was able to start up a new roam scenario. No Fatal Error. What did you do?
  6. d/l ed it updated it and got a fatal error: 'Cannot load ENGLISH.LNG' Bad download or what? Got it from Tyrn's mirror. [ 12-13-2001: Message edited by: Paddy Gregory ]

    It's a boy!

Nice one $ilk. May he bring you many fun times. 2 boys eh? Rather you than me mate. I've got my 2 girls and they're hard enough as it is. Once again, congrats.
  8. The newbie thread on Fighter SOS jogged my memory about this one from last night. There I am, the evil assassin Rebrov, plying a bit of trade between Chanis 1 and 2 (10% diff in inflation, not great, but they're pretty close, so what the hell). Anyway, in jumps a Gam Merc out for some bounty. There ensued a short dogfight, which I one hands down, but he managed to get a shuttle away. Serves them right I thought, so went after that too, he emits SOS, I set orders to tow, Then BOOM! The bloody thing lights up like a Christmas tree, putting a dent in my shields. Lost bounty, I thought, but one less Merc. 'Warning, Intruder alert!' Scumbags! They must have transported over just before they boobytrapped the thing and managed to deal a wealth of damage to my weapons and cargo bays before my grunts got them under control. Luckily, I make a habit of turning of launch control unless I need it, because one of them was in SC2, along with one of my marines. They must have been arm-wrestling, because neither was hurt too bad. I didn't realise that some SOS craft are boobytrapped till the SC mentioned it in the above thread. Never, EVER, underestimate the AI in this game.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: And most SOS ships are booby trapped to self-destruct. You want to watch for that. Really? Well, you live and learn eh? Actually, this happened to me last night. I thought it was just on the verge of going up just as I was towing it.
  10. quote: Why did you say what you said? You definitely did not scroll down to see the public servers for that download did you. hehe, I got all pissed off last night, thinking I was going to have to fork out $$ for a patch. 'How can he do this?' I thought 'He wants more money?' I screamed Then I scrolled down........... [ 12-13-2001: Message edited by: Paddy Gregory ]

Mr_Paris I don't think it was released (along with RC10, RC11). Remember, SC stated that they are only Release Candidates, so won't necesarily be available. I think.
  12. I stand corrected of course.
  13. Wow. I've got a lot of work ahead of me and a hell of a lot of stuff to back up. It's very daunting. I think it might be easier to buy a new PC.
  14. 2 points: HF = Health Factor surely? Couldn't find ASL either. AGL (Above Ground Level) is in there though (somewhere).

  17. Well, that's a bummer. Don't have a burner or a Zipdrive.......
  18. I also have the half-rendered shuttle from time to time. I don't post graphic problems a rule though as I'm running in -ng mode because of my V5. Just thought you'd like to know. That's all.
  19. Emmett, PM sent. Thanx.
  20. This will sound completely ridiculous to some people, but I have NEVER reformatted my harddrive and it's probably about time I should be seriously considering it. Thing is, how do I do it? Is there a good up to date resource someone can recommend, or even better anyone guide me through it step-by-step? Hell, we all have to learn somewhere. Also, my harddrive was installed by vendor a year ago (after my original died) and I asked him not to partition it. Was that a mistake? Can I do that when I reformat? (And again, how?) Thanks anyway.
  21. Heh. Now I got ADSL, had a quick butcher's last night. Funny stuff. 'mid-range chicks' LOL
  22. I think I'm in Limbo. Never played BC3K, but been hanging round here like a bad smell for best part of a year. I don't think one becomes a veteran till one earns the respect of one's peers. AND I DEMAND RESPECT GODDAMMIT!

  24. quote: Send in the saved game. Will try and do it tonight. quote: When I read this, I just jumped to every region in the Credian quad with no problems whatsoever. Maybe I didn't explain myself properly, to get to Credian from Terran is the problem, as you have to go through Polaris 2, which is where the disabled fighter is in my case.
  25. I've been doing a few trading/mining runs in my Garid between Syrius, Polaris and Zelon with no problems. Then recently I jumped back into the Polaris 2 region, and there is a disabled Valkerie fighter on the radar. I hypered over to near the planet with the intention of retrieving said fighter and delivering it to the Starstation nearby. I gave the CC the 'Tow' order, set the A/P, and the CC engaged planetfall . Curious, I thought. So I launched a shuttle and ordered it to Tow instead, with a resulting CTD. OK, restored the game and went back to Polaris 2. F10 the fighter and it is in space, but try and observe it from Tacops and it is slap bang in the planet (or thereabouts), if you see what I mean? I can't resolve the fighter from the planet, but can zoom in on it, but the planet is nowhere to be seen. From now on, many interactions involving the planet (setting waypoints for example) cause a CTD. Once, even jumping into the region caused a CTD (though I'm not convinced this is related). Is it possible that it was disabled just at the moment it was trying to jump out, and has ended up in some kind of Limbo? If you want me to Zip up the save game and send it, say the word. It's a pain in the arse, because there is no other (easy) way to the Credian quad and it's a lottery every time I go there as to whether the game will CTD or not. Personally, I can just delete the profile and start again, but I'm just curious as to the root cause Note to self: read appendix before buying expensive artefacts Note to self #2: Get it in the right thread.
