  1. Not only that, I also FINALLY fixed the problem that was tearing at my soul for the past 2 weeks! No longer will my framerates be cut in half from my crappy BIOS update! I am back to smooth action, HOORAY! (Okay, so it has nothing whatsoever to do with VE, but it's still a nice thing ) ------------------ Commodore. 2. Pardon the picture-posting, but I simply couldn't pass this up: ------------------ Commodore. Parias ICV-Galatae, Sanctuary Storage Facility (Sygan) Balor Fleet ICQ 1293359 Staff member at HardNews [This message has been edited by Parias (edited 10-24-2000).]
  3. Considering the big opening Chavik gave me a few postings ago, I simply couldn't resist the opportunity to step in. I'll be playing catch-up best I can for the most part, but hopefully everything should work out. So, here goes! I'll be beginning from 0900 hours on May 16th. [rp] May 16th, 3008 09:00 Hours Muttering to himself repeatedly, Commodore Parias paced back and forth through the loading bay of the Sanctuary Storage Facility. The supply request he had recieved from Vice Admiral Chavik wasn't something he was going to refuse, as he had done enough screwing up his career in the past. But what precisely he was planning to do with a full load of power couplings, sensor arrays, various backup systems of many sorts, and basically enough resources to re-build a whole Battlecruiser from scratch was beyond him. He sighed. Being on SSF wasn't too much of a hassle, the quarters were nice, and the crew of the Galatae (which had little relation to the similarly named Galcom variant) had easy access to whatever supplies were needed But his re-assignment to Balor fleet meant he wasn't at the front of the action anymore, just stuck tending to the piss-scared civvies piloting the freighters and hoping they didn't set off a Vagrant in their own cargo bays accidentally or something. Ah well, may as well go and send the supplies up myself, not much to do down here anyways... He was about to head for the freighter that was being loaded when his comm unit chirped. "Parias here." "Commodore, you're getting a priority-one transmission from the ever-so-mighty Insurgent-One." "Excuse me a second Benten, the comm unit seems to be malfunctioning. I could've sworn I picked up some heavy sarcasm in that last transmission." There was laughter on the other end. "Oh come off it Parias, you know how much I hate messages that I can't get access to. And Rattler's just too damn high and mighty. Put me in the high chair and I'd show him how you're SUPPOSED to run an Insurgency!" Parias sighed again. Knowing Benten, she had probably already tried cracking the message open at least 30 times before letting him know. Judging from her words, she was unsuccessful. "Benten, lets get one thing clear. Were Rattler to suddenly become psychotic-delusional and actually give you command of the fleets, I somehow doubt you would get rid of all of our problems by just rushing Galcom with every asset available. So quit dreaming about it, you're disturbing me. Rout that message down here to my quarters on the most secured channel possible. If not even you could hack it, it's probably something damn important. And speaking of that, if you keep trying to break into my transmissions, I'm seriously going to consider re-assigning you to a mining operation on Pluto. I knew you were listening last night." "Aw come on boss..." He cut the transmission before she could start moving into her "Ship security" tirade. Benten was one fanatical security officer, and also did one hell of a job at a communications post too. How she managed both jobs at once without spontaneously combusting was beyond him, but Parias was getting worried. She seemed to almost value the safety of the ship more than that of her Captain. The "last night" incident proved it. Nothing more annoying than talking to your distant family and being cut off mid-sentence after uttering the word "ship security"... Dodging through the officers piling through the corridors to finish loading the requested cargo into the freighter, he slid into his quarters, sat down at his desk, and flipped on the screen. Please enter security code to recieve P-1 transmission. He obligingly typed it in, and waited for the message to decrypt. quote: TO: Parias FROM : Rattler SUBJECT : SPECIAL OPS CONTENT : Commander, The following is FYEO. This message will autodelete itself in 60 seconds and will leave no records in your database. We need to meet to discuss a matter of the utmost urgency. You are to make every effort to travel to the Pixan Starstation and meet with myself, and another representative on board the SS Vulture at 23:30 hrs, 18th May 3008. Come alone and unescorted. USE alternative methods of transportation to reach your destination, and tell no one of your movements, or whereabouts. All will be revealed shortly. End Communication. Parias blinked. Not once, not twice, but three times exactly. "A mistake. It must be. Somehow my name was put in where someone else's should have. Why the hell would I be included on a top-secret mission like this? I mean, granted, I'm 100% loyal to the Insurgents, but..." The message vanished before he could review it again. He cursed loudly. Fortunately he had managed to memorize the important details in time, and scribbled them down on a small piece of paper. Well, "scrawled" would probably be the more appropriate word. "Oh well, if someone screwed up, it's their problem, not mine. This could be an interesting chance to redeem myself.." He activated his comm system. "Parias to Galatae. Lock-n-load everyone, I want the ship ready to roll by.... well, damn fast. As soon as I make this drop-off to Sygan station, we're moving. Time to pay a quick visit to one of my buddies to borrow a transport..." He signed off and stood up. For the first time in months, a smile crossed his face. [/rp] ------------------ Commodore. 4. Seeing as how my last few attempts have ended in what could be lightly referred to as a "complete mess", I wanted to be sure I was on both feet before I posted. But you've got a point, I'll just throw the damn thing up and see what everyone's reaction is ------------------ Commodore. 5. Per Chavik's polite request (and the gaping wide opening he provided in one of his latest posts), I'm going to make yet another attempt at joining in on an RPG thread. If that's cool with you guys anyways. I've already got an opening post written up. Ran it past Chavik and he thinks it's good, I'm just being sure I have everyone else's consent before I ended up being strapped to a R.A.N.D.O.M or something And no, there won't be any more artifacts from my red-shirt days, such as super-duper-Vorlon-esque-battlecruisers-of-certain-death-and-misery or anything like that. I'm sticking to the confines of the BC3k universe this time Before I posted though, I'd just like to get the consent of the higher-ups. So, Rattler, Blades, etc, you guys cool with this? If you want to review my first post before I hurl it off, give me a yell on ICQ (1293359) and I'll send it along. ------------------ Commodore. 6. From the Quake movie "Operation Baysaver": "Hunedadodaydodabaloondeygadooah!" From Tachyon: "Hey, next time you're passing by and feel like dropping in, keep going untill you get to a river, and THEN drop in." From Sanity: "Hey, do you know time it is?" "No, I don't have my watch with me." "It's payback time." ------------------ Commodore. Parias ICV-Galatae, Sanctuary Storage Facility (Sygan) Balor Fleet ICQ 1293359 Staff member at HardNews

  9. Thankee everyone! Though I had trouble wading out of my room through the massive platoon of cheering, screaming, drunk radioactive garden gnomes, I somehow managed and have temporarily quarantined them untill they are less dangerous to themselves, and any person within the next 200km. Already got my big present installed.. *Pats his 40 gig HD*, but got something today too, a B5: ITF mousepad and watch from Sierra. Woohoo! Now if only they hadn't cancelled the damn game and refused to sell the assets... Anywho, thanks guys, appreciated! Now to just wait for me BCM beta... ------------------ Commodore. 10. I've been razzing Hercules for one of those, but their PR department doesn't have any to send out yet. Poop. And my preview copy of Giants runs at a whopping 0.02-and-a-quarter FPS on my Voodoo 3, unless I reduce the visual distance to "Turok 2". Lets hope they at least have a 3d Prophet DDR-DVI in Cripes, a year ago I wouldn't have dreamed of saying that. I've been a hardcore 3dfx fanboy since the beginning, but these days I'm just starting to loose my grip... ------------------ Commodore. 12. I believe Homer Simpson states it nicely enough... *Ahem* WOOHOO! I'll keep 'er in shape and running up to spec! 13. I'll hunt around for it, thanks SC! ------------------ Cmdr. Parias ICV-Galatae, Sanctuary Storage Facility (Sygan) Balor Fleet ICQ 1293359 Staff member at HardNews
  14. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Merry Christmas! The only explanation must be that the SC has spent so much time coding, he actually ripped open his own hole in the space-time continuum and sucked himself into it. Then he landed approximately 2 months from now, where everyone flies around in hovercars, Klingons roam the streets, and people utter "hunedadodaydodabaloondeygadooah!" every 5 seconds. ......Er, I mean, happy b-day Shohashi! ------------------ Cmdr. 15. I'm running WinMe.. I like the new/improved features, plus my performance is a little better. My only big beeyatch (what, no more of the 5-lettered dog word? Bah!) is the fact that Gill Bates felt it necessary to negate DOS support. You won't believe the hair-pulling I had to do to flash my BIOS the other day (whilst installing my 40 gig HD).. since my other system has Win98, I had to make a Boot disk off of that, then load my essential drivers (CDROM, SB Live DOS stuff, etc) onto there. It's messy, and keeps moaning about a "Data error reading Drive A" every now and then, but at least I can actually use pure DOS Anyone else planning to upgrade to WinMe should keep this in mind if you plan to use DOS again.. (hey, I KNOW I ain't the only one who still plays Crusader: No Remorse!) ------------------ Cmdr. 16. Easy there tiger, I ran the game for a hellishly long time on my P233MMX w/ 64 megs of RAM and a Voodoo 1 card, ran pretty damn good if I do say so myself. Of course, now I've got a system twice as fast, with a Voodoo 3... ------------------ Cmdr. Parias ICV-Galatae, Awaiting final assignment Balor Fleet ICQ 1293359 Staff member at HardNews
  17. Hmm, I might have to start dabbling one of these days too.. of course, the best I could do would most likely be making an inter-galactic ATV that does nothing more than ram asteroids repeatedly... if even that. Actually, the farthest I'd probably get is opening up a pre-made script, staring at it for 30 minutes, and finishing up with a gutteral "Duuuuhhhhhhh....." ------------------ Cmdr. Parias ICV-Galatae, Awaiting final assignment Balor Fleet ICQ 1293359 Staff member at HardNews
  18. Wow! A fresh new 40 GB HD, and now this! I know which game is going to have at least 20 gigs all to itself... ------------------ Cmdr. Parias ICV-Galatae, Awaiting final assignment Balor Fleet ICQ 1293359 Staff member at HardNews
  19. Eggcellent. Everything is falling into place... *Rubs his hands together and cackles, like all evil people do* ------------------ Cmdr. Parias ICV-Galatae, Awaiting final assignment Balor Fleet ICQ 1293359 Staff member at HardNews

  21. It looks like Sierra is still maintaining it's crusade to make thousands of people hate them. Check this thread Excuse me a minute, I have to go stop my radioactive garden gnomes before they do something everyone will regret.. like hit Sierra HQ with a nuclear warhead or something. ------------------ Cmdr. 22. Don't worry Cruis. In, my radioactive garden gnomes have inside information! They report that the demo will be released on exactly ***CENSORED***. So just hang in there, soon we shall all feel the power! [This message has been edited by APersonWhoIsCertainlyNotParias (edited 10-03-2000).] ------------------ Cmdr. 23. Some details are here... I'm happy Lowtax got the hell away from them before loosing his site. Although I'm not sure what's gonna happen with VoodooExtreme... I MUST HAVE MY DAILY NEWS DOSAGE! Nyyyaaarrrghhh! Seriously though, I pretty much saw this coming for awhile now. It seems like a lot of the sites didn't even get any notice though. Sure would suck to loose all your work because of one stupid company... ------------------ Cmdr. Parias ICV-Galatae, Awaiting final assignment Balor Fleet ICQ 1293359 Staff member at HardNews
  24. Happy B-Day Eclipse! ------------------ Cmdr. Parias ICV-Galatae, Awaiting final assignment Balor Fleet ICQ 1293359 Staff member at HardNews
  25. Yup, I've been popping in and out of the game since it's very first beta version, where each side had only 3 ships (except for those Quantar *******s and their funky spider-ship-thingie). I just keep getting bored of the game though. You trade and try to avoid getting killed. Yay. It's not really all that much fun, because once you're a rich *******, there's nothing else to do. ...But Gallion, you didn't like I-War? Gasp! Actually, I think the game featured an "Arcade" mode, where one could float about like in Freespace 2 if it was desired... I couldn't imagine playing the game with it though. It uses Newtonian physics for a reason, and one I shamelessly abuse at every possible moment ------------------ Cmdr.
