  1. Harrumph, no Imperium Galactica 3? How could they have missed that? Guess I'll have to vote for BCG..
  2. quote:Originally posted by Epsilon 5: Still can't beat the demo, damn nukes IG3 still alive? Good!Don't get close to the asteroids. When the time finally comes to send a strike team into the belt, send in only the Praetorian, Alexandria, and, if it's in a good condition, the Rome. Have them all attack Asteroid H, and only the Phalanx guns on that emplacement. When they're down, pull them out of the belt and use your tactical bombers to clean out the rest of the asteroids. Finish up by sending in all of your ships (assisted by bombers from the Cleopatra, which hangs back) to attack asteroid base A, the main Outpost. Every ship should be attacking Devices (obviously), except the Antonius, which should be draining shields. Target the 4 light lasers first, followed by the shield projectors, and, finally, the Core itself. When the Core reaches critical and you get the warning, run everyone the hell away (click on an outermost asteroid and tell everyone to "Close Distance"). Easy.
  3. Whelp, there you have it folks.. on the official forums, it's been confirmed the game's still in development. No worries

quote:Originally posted by Soback: Read a preview about this game a long time ago, and after realizing that it was linear I promptly forgot about it. I passionately hate linear games. I mean it's fine if it has a storyline, but if you can't just go out on your own, or continue playing after the storyline is over, then the game is a complete waste. That's my point, and I am sticking to it like I have for all these years.*Cough* Free Ride and Free Ride Extreme *Cough* And that's quite a strict regimen.. are you saying you've never played classics like Freespace 1/2, Hostile Waters, Battlezone, or any of the Mechwarrior series, sheerly for that reason? Ouch. [ 09-02-2002, 02:14 PM: Message edited by: Parias ]
  5. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: ...is toast and has been for almost five months nowActually, I've heard from a number of sources that the game will still be released, which is good news, because out of all the upcoming space-based strategy games, this is the only game I'm looking forward to just as much as Homeworld 2. It hasn't been officially announced as gone down the tube yet, and it's still even supposed to ship with Matrox's fancy new video card, so...

quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: uhm...what about the fact that you can't save anywhere you like. And if you screw up, you have to start from scratch?Agreed, this is my chief qualm with the game. However, aside from that, I found it very entertaining.. definately one of the better releases of this year. The ending was good too
  7. quote:Well, even with modern games, you have no business running ANY app in the background - most especially ICQ.Heh, actually, I haven't noticed ANY performance difference whatsoever no matter what I have running in the background or not whenever I play a game.. everything runs fine. The only exception being virus scanners, of course. ICQ, specifically, runs 24/7 and doesn't degrade my performance at all. I don't notice any difference if I close it. True, getting a boot disk rig isn't something really hard to set up, but I still find it quite a hassle to have to juggle ancient, now totally unsupported soundcard, mouse and other drivers in order to get a game running properly. An emulated environment capable of handling those problems while XP is running would kick ass IMHO And never mind the poor souls who run NTFS..
  8. quote:Originally posted by Outlaw: In terms of smooth framerate, does the xbox version get the mark or gamecube?Uh, kinda hard to say.. it depends on what game you're playing and how much optimization has gone into it. For Battlecry though, I'd expect it to be equal across all platforms. [ 08-16-2002, 03:37 AM: Message edited by: Parias ]
  9. Already know about it, but toying with it means I have to actually EXIT Windows, which automatically cause 60% of the people on my oversized ICQ list to freak out and start wondering where the hell I went Anything that would allow me to multitask normally in Windows while it's running would be asskicking++ in my opinion.. one thing I'd murder for is a 2k/XP-based emulator that can run every single popular DOS game ever created flawlessly. I'd love to play Crusader: No Remorse or Terra Nova again without having to toy with boot disks or my dual-boot setup.. eh, something like that probably won't appear though. 10. Heh, I remember toying with this a long time ago.. but I gave up, because I couldn't find any DOS disk images that would actually run my games. Even now, the only thing I can spot is a 5 meg "FreeDos" image.. not exactly Crusader: No Remorse material
  11. Ah! Now I remember, yeah, I've heard of that too.. this might help.
  12. Perhaps Milkshake? Or maybe Quick3d?
  13. Guys, seriously, quit mocking the airport security goons, they were just doing their jobs. G.I. Joes are a valid and extremely serious threat to international security, and what these people did was fully justified in my eyes. I mean, geez, didn't any of you see Small Soldiers?
  14. Different indeed, though the primary refinements are going to be focused on multiplayer.. singleplayer will probably remain intact, for the most part, although I wouldn't object too strongly if they updated some of that damned repetitive geometry...
  15. Yeah, PC version's due out in 2003.. but I sprung and got an XBox anyways. Not only does Halo kick massive ass, but Steel Battalion is also due out soon.. and the mere thought of playing it makes my pants catch flame. Of course, the $150 price tag for the controller might be a bit much for some..
  16. Such a thing's possible before-hand by making a simple post using IMG tags. However, it'd probably be easier to just open up a completely new browser window and try to access the thing yourself.. most of the time that'll tell you if it works or not, unless you've got the image pre-cached.
  17. Heh, just an FYI, I'm still not seeing any "enter your own avatar URL" fields on the Preferences or Avatar Selection pages.. am I the only one? Edit: Nevermind, it's there now. Thanks! [ 08-03-2002, 03:18 PM: Message edited by: Parias ]
  18. quote:You can now also use a custom avatar from your own or other site.Heh, one query.. I tore through the user preferences page, but failed to find any field allowing me to throw in the link to my own custom avatar. Am I missing something blatantly obvious? Looks nice all around though, and everything loads much faster too (an impressive feat, considering how I'm on cable ).
  19. Realplayer is, and pardon my french, complete ass. The only reason I unwillingly force it onto my system is because some people actually encode their movies in the dreaded format. Stay the hell away from it if you can avoid it.

Alt-F4 worked fine for me.. was the first combo I tried after ESC didn't work This game looks pretty nice... ALMOST as good as IG3. Almost
  21. MW4: Mercs sounds nice, though I REALLY hope this is the last game they beat the engine to death with so they can get rocking on the next game.. Now Steel Battalion, THAT'S one title that makes my pants catch flame.
  22. quote:oh man i love UT. i own at the attack/defend maps...especially d-day.Heh, one caveat.. UT2k3 isn't going to have Assault.
  23. Cowboy Bebop, baby!
  24. Pffft, that rock's no problem.. just deploy a Heavy Cruiser with a few Ion Frigates (backed up by minelayers, just in case), with perhaps a Missile Destroyer for an antifighter screen.. no problemo! *Mutters something about his fleet being too big and wanders off to go play some more Homeworld*
  25. Bah, I'd actually prefer a prequel.. I'd LOVE to know where those dragons actually came from.
