Every fleet needs good officers. ORION FLEET wants good commanders. So far, you've suggested you are most interested in either Orion or Wraith. Both good choices, I assure you. However, there are other fleets out there. You still need to decide if you prefer brutality to subtlty. Both of the favorites delve into eachothers areas of expertese a wee bit. Orion has it's own Special Ops branch (Think Corsairs in Wraith) and Wraith has it's own big guns (So far as I understand it, the Hammerheads are kinda brutal - correct me if Im wrong Tac) but the same could be said for each of the fleets. End of the day, if you join Orion, you're going to be more restricted than the other fleets. This isnt a warning or anything, it's a fact as to how I run things around here. Once you sign up for membership, you may or may not be assigned to the Battle Group you prefer with the assignment you want. The TBG, for instance, is about filled to capacity. Most new recruits will start to fill out the DeTBG or DBG over the next few weeks/months. So, once again I suggest you thoroughly look into each of the fleets and the various Battle Groups/Squads within them. A post or two back you mentioned you couldnt see an awful lot on the Orion Website, content wise. Heres what you do :- While it's still WIP (Seein a lot of that abreviation these days ) you can access a fair portion of the ITACS section once you get into it. Simply look at the Shadow Company link, then from that look at any of the preceding links to see whats what. Dont forget to back track in your browser each time or you'll end up loading the main frame again. I know, it's still a bit messy, but time is somthing I dont have an awful lot of at the moment so updates are slow until we get a firm BCM release date. Once that comes, its all steam ahead and what remains to be done will be completed and uploaded quick sharpish. Anyway, Im rambling again. ------------------ Fleet Cmdr. I think I'm starting to lose the plot here. Anyway, lets see what comes next ... [RP] The room, although dimly illuminated from the overhead lighting, seemed just as threatening and foreboding as it had done in total darkness. What Savage couldnt see before was the huddled figure of Akuma Minako. What he now saw was more familiar, yet still not Akuma Minako. At least, not the Akuma he knew. When she spoke to him, he felt his stomach tighten and his heart increase it's rythmic thumping. By the time she had finished, he was sweating, his throat dry with nervousness. Whats wrong with me? Why do I feel like I've just been caught scrumping apples? Didnt you hear her, dumbass? came the ever present voice of doom and gloom in his head. She's a wreck, and a good portion of that is because of the way she feels for you. Savage shrugged the voice away. Now wasnt a good time to have this debate. Yet, it seemed to strike home with him. His physical reaction to hearing what she said was evidence enough of that. "Akuma," he started, trying to find the words in his brain to put things to rights. She looked up at him when he spoke .... and waited for him to continue. He lost the momentum before it had started. Suddenly, the things his instincts told him to shout out were beaten swiftly to death by the voice of reason. Or at least, the moments voice of reason. He couldnt offored to get into this discussion now. It was the worst possible time for it. But at the same token, if he didnt do this now ... resolve this issue, there might not ever be a chance to do it again. Fate intervened once again. "Bridge to Savage! Comamnder Savage, please respond!" The Orion Fleet commander hesitated for only a moment. Just long enough for Akuma to lower her eyes and stare at her feet. He whipped the comm unit from his belt and spoke into it quickly. "Savage here. Did that planet explode already?" "Not quite sir, but theres been an incident in medbay. You are needed down there immediately." Savage closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Anymore of this and Im gonna fire myself out of the nearest airlock ... "Understood." he said, killing the transmission and turning on the spot. As the door whooshed open, he halted and looked back over his shoulder. "Akuma, I need you. I'll seeyou on the bridge in ten minutes." With that he left and made his way back down the corridor. He could hear some kind of discussion going on from behind him, right where the burly shadows had passed a few moments before. This didnt concern him though. Neither did whatever emergency lay ahead of him in the medbay. His thoughts were occupied by Neena ..... and now, after all this time .... Akuma. Epsilon 5, you'll find the OWS is work in progress. It's been work in progress through more revisions than I care to count, but as we move closer to a retail release date for BCM, you'll find it suddenly fills up with content. Oh, and dont mind aramike. Orion Fleet and the Insurgency have a *special* relationship that both camps are going to fully enjoy once multiplayer mayhem gets here. The lure of the Insurgency is strong Epsilon 5. Most of their members enjoy the romantic ideal of fighting the good fight against an oppressive government, me included. However, I started my time here as a lowly Prime fleet commander (Not sayin that theres anything lowly about Prime) and watched as the other RP fleets began to pup up around me one at a time. When I was voted in to become the Orion Fleet commander, I was shocked and amazed that people around here thought I had the tenure, experience and tenacity to run an entire fleet. Well, not wanting to dissapoint them, I made it my goal to create the very best player fleet in the games universe. Now, I cant say for sure if Orion is the best player fleet, because all the fleets have their own merits, but I can quite happily say that the people that have joined me in Orion are some of the most involved and active commanders in the community. Being in the Orion Fleet isnt an easy business. We have very stringent rules here, and on occasions fleet members have been expelled for innapropriate behaviour and lack of discipline. Orion is disciplined. All of my people tow the line, do the work myself and Greg Miller hand out to them. Orion is a working fleet. From time to time you will be asked to do somthing that benefits the fleet as a whole. When these duties are handed out, you're expected to do them. Orion isnt for casual gamers. We're full of role players and take a very active interest in any RP threads running. I've started a good few of them myself in the past, here on the main forum and on two seperate BC forums I host myself. Check 'em out. Orion is GalComs HEAVY ASSAULT FLEET, and as such we are tasked with the big assed pounding work. We aint subtle and we aint pretty, we use raw, brutal stopping power to achieve our goals. If you want to be part of a fleet that loves nothing more than sticking it to the Insurgents (Bless you bunnies), go ahead and apply. If you're looking for somthing more subtle, try some of the other fleets. All are good and well led by commanders that care about the game and the people who side with them. Before you decide, investigate all the fleets carefully. Ask questions, approach senior members and newbies alike. Everyone has an opinion about where they are, what they do etc. And dont forget, when applying to join a fleet, be damned sure thats where you want to be, because you cant simply transfer on a whim. All fleet transfers have been suspended for a long time now, and probably wont be lifted until BC:M hits the shelves. Ok yeah, there was the question about assets. Well, simply put, you get what you're given. You actively participate, you do your duties and you respect the fleets and your fellows ideals and you can go far. Dont expect it overnight tho. Most of the folks in Orion have been hear for years, and have earned their Battle Group and staff position commands. All depends on what career you're after. Speakin of careers, Orion is mostly for Commander sorts. You wanna be a pilot, sure, you can join OFC. You wanna be a ground pounder? Thats what the 22 IMB is all about. [RP] The 'meeting' with Foss had wound Savage up more than he had let on. Leaving him to continue with his journey down to see Rattler, he quickly paged the bridge to find out if the Insurgencys number one had concluded his business in the head. 'Uh, yes sir.' said Reynolds. 'He left .... a good few minutes ago. You get lost?' Savage sighed. 'No, I got sidetracked. Where is he now?' Reynolds was silent for a moment. 'I believe he's on his way down to one of the guest quaters with a security escort.' 'What?' Reynolds explained. 'Security was summoned a few minutes ago. Somthing is up with one of our recruits. Rattlers taking the lead.' Savage shook his head. 'Wonderful. Any other surprises for me?' 'None so far, sir. I'll bleep you should a planet explode or somthing.' With that, Savage cut the link and beat his fists against the bulkhead in frustration. Im starting to think this was a very bad idea, he said to himself. Maybe I should abort this little escapade before we get into any more trouble? On que, the other voice in his head interupted. Dont be an idiot, theres too much at stake. Savage blinked and ordered his brain to shut the hell up. This is starting to happen all too often. Maybe when this is all over, Im gonna take that vacation with Neena I promised myself ... Pulling away from the bulkhead, he did an abrupt about turn and headed towards the crew quaters, hoping to intercept Rattler and the merc security guards before they got to wherever it was they were going. He almsot made it. He arrived in the correct section, saw the shadows of several men just dissapear around a corridor and was about to quick step after them when a crash from a room to his right caught his attention. Stopping, he quickly looked at nameplate on the stateroom door and dropped his head in despair. Now what the hell is she up to? Using his security overide protocols, he forced the door open and stepped into the darkened room. The moment the closed behind him, he could sense his troubled officers presence. As things presently stood, the unlikely saviours of humanity had been allowed the luxury of being shown to their shared staterooms, with the less than generous refreshments and in ship communications available only on demand. What further infuriated them was the fact that ship access out of their staterooms was restricted to an ill equipped recreation room and a canteen designed for no more than ten persons at any one time. However, what irritated them the most was the constant merc presence that guarded over them, brutal looking energy weapons always at the ready and the kind of ill advised look that suggested they were happy to, perhaps even eager, to use them. As they had been made aware, Savage was quite serious in his threat that he would have any one of them shot where they stood for stepping out of line. This made some, if not all of them, feel more like prisoners than comrades. Moral at this point was understandably low, and considering how little they had really been told of the situation, it wasnÔÇÖt likely to improve any time soon. 1) BCM Beta Will probably spend most of the weekend rubbing myself up and down the new patch. 2) ST:Command Volume II This is pants. I was looking forward to the Dynaverse but it's not there just yet. Same as before but even slower in campaign mode. 3) Blair Witch Volume I I dont tend to go for adventure/arcade (And by that, Im talkin Tomb Rader alikes) but this is actually quite good. Much better than the film anyway. 4) My girls. 'nuff said. And now christmas is all over, it's back to being underpaid and unappreciated back at the office.
