Orion Fleet Deployment Structure The ORION fleet is currently broken down into two commander categories : Active, and inactive. Active commanders are assigned to one of the Battle Groups outlined below, while the inactive commanders are effectively assigned to garrison duty at the Orion Starstation. These garrisoned units are deployed at one of the five Orion facilities, broken into units of nine ships. Battle Groups. The Orion fleets active commanders are broken down into separate Battle Groups within the main fleet structure. Each Battle Group has a specific primary duty, but can perform any number of secondary duties as needed. Each full Battle Group has a total of nine BattleCruisers, with the designated Group Commanders vessel acting as the flag ship. Each Battle Group has been commisioned to complement another, although each group itself has the capacity to operate independantly (According to their primary duties) as well as work in conjunction with other fleet movements. In the event of a Battle Group operating as part of a joint fleet operation, the groups commander is expected to coordinate with the designated fleets commanding officer. Currently, the Orion Fleet has two active Battle Groups. The Tsunami Battle Group is led by Fleet Commander Savage most times, but will fall to Acting Fleet Executive Officer Greg GMAN Miller when the FC is required back at the Station. The TBG was commisioned with heavy assault in mind. ItÔÇÖs commanders are experienced in starstation assault as well as enforcing regional blockades to limit enemy movements. The TBG usually operated with the Deterrence Battle Group during station assault. The Deterrence Battle Group was commisioned as a support group. ItÔÇÖs primary function is to cover the TBG during heavy assaults on enemy assets. ItÔÇÖs secondary function is to assist friendly fleets by running blockades of enemy controlled systems and Supporting their primary groups in combat. Additional Battle Groups are planned for the future. These will be commisioned once the more ACTICE commanders join the fleet. These include :- Ground Assault Battle Group Orion Station Guard Battle group (Needed for the future since the garrisoned troops are there in name only) Specific Blockade Running/Resupply Battle Group Additional Battle Groups can eb commisioned to compliment existing groups as and when needed. Command Structure There are currently active positions within the Orion Fleet. Several other positions will become available as and when competent and active officers can be found to fill them. Staff Positions :- Position : Orion Fleet Commander Currently held by Karl ÔÇÿBladesÔÇÖ Savage. Overall command of the Orion Fleet and itÔÇÖs assets. Reporting directly to the Supreme Commander of GalCom. Position : Orion Starstation commander Currently held by Fleet Commander Savage. Administers the day to day functions of the Orion Starstation and is responsible for fleet maintenance and supply. Also administers the stations website. Position : Fleet Executive Officer Currently held by Commander Greg ÔÇÿGMANÔÇÖ Miller in the absence of James Hamblin. Due to Hamblins real life problems of late, he requested to be granted a leave of absence but expects to return for the mayhem of BC:M. If neccesary, Commander Miller can replace Hamblin permamently as he is a very able, helpful (The guy has taken a lot of work off my back, which is to be commended) commander. Currently, commander Miller is assisting in the creation of new policies that will further strengthen the Orion Fleet and make it an attractive and appealing choice for new commanders. Reports directly to the Fleet Commander. Position : Recruitment Officer Currently held by Commander Carlton. Due to the additional workload placed upon GMANÔÇÖs shoulders follwing his assignment to Fleet XO, the position of Recruitment Officer has been assigned to him upon GMANÔÇÖs personal recommendations. Untested as of yet, he is enthusiastic in his role is nothing else. Reports directly to the FC and XO. Position : Orion Intelligence Officer Despite many recent rumors, there is no clandestine Intelligence Division within the Orion Fleet. Position : Ground Operations officer Currently vacant. Working with the commander of the proposed third Battle Group, this commander would be responsible for the overall deployment of all troops assigned to the Orion fleet. Reports to FC and XO. Position : Fleet Training Officer Currently held by Commander Steve ÔÇ£XlogicÔÇØ Melton. Due to the need to continually enhance the ability of the Elite Battle Groups officers, it has been decided that an advanced training facility is to be constructed. The facility, once fully operational will allow BG officers to further their training as well as give the command staff an opportunity to assess the ability of new members before assigning them to Elite status. Position : Fleet Logistics officer Currently vacant. Whoever takes this position would be the officer in charge of requisitioning/trading supplies within the fleet and distributing it to the Orion commanders. Reports to Station Commander and XO. Position : Civillian liason officer This position is currently vacant. The CLO is more of an RP position designed to fit in with the RP ideal that the Orion Starstation also acts as a major civillian stop over point for traffic coming too and from both the Terran and Syrion quadrants. The CLO would also liase with commanders wishing to grant shore leave at Orion, since it is recognised (In RP at least) as a favorite destination for our gallant boys. Heh. Reports to XO. Field Positions Position : TBG Commander This position is currently held by Fleet Commander Savage. During times where the FC is needed back at the Orion Starstation, XO Greg Miller will command the Battle Group. Position : DBG Commander This position is currently held by commander David Foss. David, another long time member has been assigned to command the DBG because of his enthusiasm and dedication to all things BC3K related. Originally, it was a toss up between him and Hamblin for assignment as my XO. Reports to FC and XO. FACILITIES The Orion Fleet has control of five separate installations. Each installation plays a significant role in the Fleets continual success, and are guarded at all times by a minimum of one Garrison Unit. Starbases : Starbase Name : Legacy Starbase Main Function : Fleet Recruitment Office Location : Earth, Mission Zone 13 Commanding Officer : Carlton This Starbase serves as the Fleet recruitment center for the Orion Fleet. Located on Earth, itÔÇÖs proximity to a large, human population makes the recruitment process a lot easier. Starbase Name : Hereford Starbase Main Function : Orion Fleet Training Center Location : Tramis, Moon02, Mission Zone 70 Commanding Officer : Xlogic This Starbase serves as the Fleets primary advanced training center. Offering specialized training to commanders wishing to be assigned to one of the Fleets Battle Groups, itÔÇÖs main focus is on large scale space engagements between static targets and a large, mobile force. Also serves as the home of the majority of the fleetÔÇÖs marine detachment. Starbase Name : Rockwell Starbase Main Function : Supply Center Location : Moon, Mission Zone 28 Commanding Officer : James Hamblin This starbase serves as the Fleets main resupply center. Transports laden with logistical equipment is transferred between the various Orion facilities. Starbase Name : Vanguard Starbase Main Function : Rapid Response Location : Polaris-2, Moon02, Mission Zone 139 Commanding Officer : David Foss This Starbase serves as the Fleets Front Line command center in times of war with hostile nations in the Credian/Gammulan quadrants as well as maintaining an active response to Insurgent aggression. Home to the Deterrence Battle Group, it has the largest complement of Garrisoned vessels on any of the Orion facilities. Orbital Starstation The Orion Starstation itself is a heavily populated installation. Housing both a military and civilian population, it is a favorite shore leave destination for the GalCom fleet as well as a hive of activity for passing traders, diplomats and aliens of almost every kind. The command center for the entire Fleet, both the Fleet Commander and Executive Officer spend most of their time on station, but are also prepared to spearhead the invasion of enemy controlled space with the Heavy Assault Tsunami Battle Group, which is stationed permamently at Orion. During times of way, the Command Staff often transfer directly to the Vanguard Starbase to oversee Orion operations in the Terran and Credian quadrants. Fleet FAQ now online
Blades replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
Good job Eclipse. Gives 'em just enough info to get them interested in each Fleet, but doesnt bias against any one in particular. And now we all got workin web sites, we gonna be packin 'em in. ------------------ F.C KARL 'BLADES' SAVAGE ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - TSUNAMI Ôäó www.orion-hq.fsnet.co.uk 'For Queen and country' -
Rod, None of us have been actively recruiting members up until very recently. It is likely that since your initial post all that time ago and didnt follow up too much (If at all) that you were forgotten. Dont feel bad, we get a lot of traffic through here and a lot of the registered commanders tend not to hang around for very long. However, if you want to join a Fleet, take a look at each of them in turn and make an informed choice. Each Fleet has a website worthy of visit (Mines in my sig) and can be accessed on the BC main page. Whatever you do, make sure the choice is right for you, because you will be stuck with it for a long time. Welcome back to the war ... ------------------ F.C KARL 'BLADES' SAVAGE ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - TSUNAMI Ôäó www.orion-hq.fsnet.co.uk 'For Queen and country'

Without exception, task switching corrupts the graphics and freezes the game with me. So, I would suggest using the pause button, and a hard copy of the manual.

Heh, and I didnt even have to tell him to say that.

Welcome aboard Steve.

Welcome back Carlton. The best lessons learnt are those made through our mistakes. A lesson we all know well and understand. Back to work with you now soldier ...

Any commanders considering joining the Orion Fleet should first take a look at the Orion web Site (Address is in my sig) and take a look around. Should you still be interested, go into the Communications Forum and stop by the Command Offices and register your application with Commander Carlton in the Recruitment Office. Please be advised - This is a working Fleet. Casual applicants need not apply. ------------------ F.C KARL 'BLADES' SAVAGE ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - TSUNAMI Ôäó www.orion-hq.fsnet.co.uk 'For Queen and country' [This message has been edited by Blades (edited 03-14-2000).]

Commander Xlogic, there is no Intelligence division within the Orion Fleet. We are a HEAVY STRIKE Fleet that specalise in devestating frontal assaults on fixed enemy assets. I.E Starstations, Starbases, Heavy Blockade formations etc. Some of the boys can also whip up a mean BBQ when theres call for it. Also, before being assigned a senior position with any fleet, you have to put your time in mucking with the other grunts. Responsibilities are given to individuals who *work* for the fleet, not just belong to one. Every commander is expected to pull their own weight and carry out their assignments as dictated by either msyelf, Executive Officer Greg Miller or your assigned Battle Group Leader. If you are considering joining the Orion Fleet, I suggest you first take a look at the Orion Web Site (URL is in my sig) and then get in touch with our recruitment Officer, Carlton (Contact details are listed on the web site) for more detailed info. I look forward to seeing your application in the mail. ------------------ F.C KARL 'BLADES' SAVAGE ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - TSUNAMI Ôäó www.orion-hq.fsnet.co.uk 'For Queen and country'

I dont know where I found the time to do this (Yes I do, I pulled another all nighter for some demented reason) but the site has been updated yet again. The Communications forum has been whittle down a tad and some new sections have been put in place. Expect more as I find time. Theres only so many sleepless nights this 27 goin on 83 year old can handle. ------------------ F.C KARL 'BLADES' SAVAGE ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - TSUNAMI Ôäó www.orion-hq.fsnet.co.uk 'For Queen and country' -
Sounds good enough for a start Rattler. BTW, that beach I wanted, I hope it's located somwhere on the equator where I can catch some rays. Further business ... http://www.hastur.freeserve.co.uk/fleetstr.htm This is the link to the Orion Fleet Structure page. The word document will be sent out again to the SC once I have been able to confirm, and name the four starbases. The page on the link will also be updated to accomodate the changes. Thanks again for your efforts Rattler, I owe you a cold one. ------------------ F.C KARL 'BLADES' SAVAGE ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - TSUNAMI Ôäó www.orion-hq.fsnet.co.uk 'For Queen and country'

Right, I'm having a problem here. First, I cant actually look at the various possible MZ's cos I dont have BC installed currently. This is because I've had to do a major network upgrade in the last few days, and I'm still sorting out a lot of problems here n there. Secondly, since I inherrited Orion, I dont know which planets were selected for surface bases, or any other details pertaining to them. As for the .doc file, thats no problem. If someone can furnish me with the locations of the existing Orion surface bases, I would appreciate it. If anyone can also give me their MZ's (If previously decided) I would also be happy. If this hasnt been done, I need someone to locate suitable sites for me cos I cant do it myself at the moment. Any of my lot want to volunteer for this duty? If not, Uncle Rattler, I would appreciate your help as always. ------------------ F.C KARL 'BLADES' SAVAGE ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - TSUNAMI Ôäó www.orion-hq.fsnet.co.uk 'For Queen and country' [This message has been edited by Blades (edited 03-11-2000).]

A Time For Sorrow, A Time For Healing, Farewell To A Fallen Comrade
Blades replied to Rattler's topic in General Chatter
My condolancies on your loss Alex. I understand (At least in part)how rough this is on you, but bear in mind, you can count on the support and friendship of the entire BC community. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. -
Thank you for your comments Blades [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 03-09-2000).]

You know the drill. Stand and be counted or get busted back to Garrison duty.
-
Head count time guys. Make yourselves known or get ready to be broken down to Garrison Duty.

Heh, expect more invites in the near future commander. [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 03-05-2000).]

Welcome back to the war Mr Wolfe. Once you've had a chance to look at what GMAN is mailing you, get in touch and we'll talk about your future.

I've been in discussions with the Commander usin the Stryker name about changin it. Now thats taken care of, I will be fully updating the roster, and sending on the details. Expect it by the deadline. Email has been sent. [This message has been edited by Blades (edited 03-05-2000).]

The dress uniform is good. I do like that. The work uniform looks more like a flight suit than anything else. Ok if you're a pilot, but not what I'd expect to see on the command deck. Personally, I prefer to see women in trousers than skirts. Anyway, this is probably moot cos it's been AGES since anyone looked at it. ------------------ F.C KARL 'BLADES' SAVAGE ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - TSUNAMI Ôäó www.orion-hq.fsnet.co.uk 'For Queen and country' Thanks for the compliment Blades [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 03-09-2000).]

I'll make sure that commander has a quick change of character.

You want my opinion? Tough, you get it anyway. Unique ship names is important in my opinion. Why? Well, everyone that is going to want to spend a good portion of their time playing BC:M or BC:Online when they are out are going to want to be recognised for who they are. The easiest way to do that is to have a unique ship name that everyone can see. Also, players cropping up with similar or the same ship names will only serve to confuse people. We can do without that kind of confusion. Also, how would one of our well established commanders feel if some newbie jumped onto the server with the same ship name, in a different or same fleet and started doing all sorts of good/bad things? Well, I think it would get messy, besides, a commander got to have a sense of individuality. If I saw another GCV - TSUNAMI while I'm playing, or even on a roster somwhere, I wouldnt be happy. ------------------ F.C KARL 'BLADES' SAVAGE ORION FLEET TSUNAMI BATTLE GROUP GCV - TSUNAMI Ôäó www.orion-hq.fsnet.co.uk 'For Queen and country'
