I always assumed the solar panels were a back up if main power failed. Sort of like the solar sail mentioned in Star Trek IV. Allocate more power to them, the more you could draw. I've never had the opportunity to test them out though. If I'm to the point where I've lost main power, I'm usually a goner a few seconds later anyway.

Thanks Grayfox! I appreciate it and look forward to serving with you.

It's missing a couple: YOU BOUGHT WHAT? (Raised eyebrows) Self explanatory. I NEED SOME MONEY.(With a smile) Self explanatory. I HAVE A HEADACHE.(Man's face drops) Again, self explantory.

quote:Originally posted by SC: Got it last night. Played it. Was bored stupid. So I went back to the UT2004 demo. Don't get me wrong, the physics, environment etc are all great - but you've seen this game before, somewhere. Not sure how they hope to stand up against, oh, lemme see FarCry, Soldner, Joint Operations, Doom3, HL2, UT2004 etc. I played it for about 30 minutes last night. You're right -- Good eye candy, but pureeing zombies got old rather quickly. Strict run-n-gun.

We love these commercials, but what the hell are they?

This burns me even more about Dreamcatcher....
rjy01 replied to Elric_Sloan's topic in Universal Combat Series
I remember SC posting once about hiring someone to do a strategy guide for his games but I'm sure that a moot point now. Still there's a plethora of knowledge here on the BB. When I get stuck, I can usually find a relevant topic. -

Cruis, are you are of this site ? You can buy the reprints of sfb. None of my old cohorts are close enough to play anymore, but I bought a copy anyway for nostalgia's sake.

Somethings to look at: Make sure your drivers are updated. This may help you with crashes. Check your speaker settings in the Audigy control panel and make sure they match the type of speakers you are using. (I'm not sure how the control software is setup with your card. My Audigy 2 software has a separate interface for the speakers.) Look here for other suggestions.

Universal Combat - First Impressions
rjy01 replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Universal Combat Series
1.) I like the new interface -- I have a much easier time navigating and reading the information on my ship's systems. I also like have my missile systems congregated on the left hand side with the other weapons systems. 2.) Music and sound effects are awesome. They have greater depth than previous titles. 3.) Shield effects are very cool. 4.) Either I'm out of practice or I swear the AI is much more aggressive. These guys are out for blood! quote:Originally posted by Hellbinder: This is sooooo not a 19.99 title. On the flipside of that while i was in EB purchacing it... Several people saw me reading the box and asked some Questions about the game. Inclding the Store manager. They had not realized that it was a BC Title. The end result was that the game looks impressive and even though they had "heard things" about BC they decided to pick it up and give it a shot becuase it was only 20$. If this is a $19.99 budget title, then I expect to DC's upcoming title Painkiller to be similarly priced. -
I cancelled my preorder as a protest to DC. Nevertheless, I went into EB last night while my wife was shopping for clothes (She's very understanding!) In a moment of weakness, I bought the last copy on the shelf. I got home, installed it, and never looked back. I love this game. I am MORE than willing to pay Derek the full $50 bucks so he can continue to develop great games. Maybe he can go public and sell us some shares in 3000AD. Just think of it -- we could have a kick-ass board of directors meeting with a huge LAN party!!

Thanks for the link! I love this game -- I still remember playing the old Starfleet Battles on paper. (I can hear it now -- they played games on paper?)

Allow me. quote:Originally posted by Evenios: get off your high horse...you dont even have one your a small developer of a small niche game series that most people have never really heard about or played. sorry about your price wars and lawsuit but it wasnt MY Fault. so dont take it out on me. You're still in school? Here's a lesson: You'll go a lot farther in life by not blaming others for YOUR screw-up and then insulting them. Sorry about your inability to read and lack of compatible vid card, but it wasn't DEREK'S fault. So don't take it out on him.
-
quote: Originally posted by Evenios: This game looks to be big but i highly suggest in future runs of the game please put a warning like that on the front of the box. It just shows that you care about your customers and makes everybody happier. If you would take a moment and search this BB, you would realize how much time and effort Derek puts into supporting and improving his games which to me demonstrates that he indeed cares about his customers. Everyone's happiness is their own individual perception and not his problem. Derek provided a product. You bought it without checking the requirements. It's an old staying, but still valid nevertheless: ignorance is not an excuse.

Preorder from EB cancelled. We should tally the results from all of the cancellations so Dreamcatcher can easily see what their tactics are costing them.

quote:From the UC VCF v1.00.02: You can now eject from a craft without having to first land it. This allows you to do silly and crazy things like, oh, I dunno, say (a) flying a fighter into another unit while ejecting at the last minute ( dropping in on a carrier deck and stealing a fully functional fighter from its deck © ejecting from a craft that is sure to be destroyed in the coming moments etc. I cannot wait to try out this feature. Very, very cool SC.

LOL!! That's too sweet! -
DC's behavior is so unnecessary. What market do they hope to capture four days before Christmas?
