  1. quote: I was planning on seeing Mr Deeds too. Did anyone see it yet? Yep saw that one about 4 days ago. I thought it was OK, not as funny as MIB II (my fav movie for this year )IMO but it did have its moments. But if you want some Adam Sandler goodness then you should go see it.
  2. quote: Escaflowne (EXCELLENT SERIES) Macross Plus Ninja Scroll Space Martian Cruiser: Nidesico (hillarious and great plot) 3x3 Eyes Metrpolis Akira (Cult Classic!) Jin-Roh I wouldnt forget vandread. (its new but i like it) or blueseed Seems like most anime is turning into cg now since its easier then drawing it all on a cel.
  3. quote: I looked for 3d studio max but is way over of my budget. I found a site with lots of 3DS models Dunno if this has anything to do with anything but gmax is like a poor mans version of 3d studio max and you can import 3ds files to it and edit em.. I think it might be useful.
  4. quote: heh, try telling that to the 400K+ EQ players I suppose for fantasy RPGs, rule based combat is more appropriate. As a gamer from the old days, I really, truly don't see how rules games combat could possible compete with real-time combat. Maybe they know something that I don't. But, we'll just have to wait and see how E&B works out. I dunno if Eve uses real-time combat (like Darkspace) or not. Anyone in the Beta? Ive been told its more like a RTS-- ex: homeworld
  5. quote: Sorry, what I'm wanting to know so far is if you saw this as a teaser in a magazine that it would make you want to turn the page and see what it was all about. As far as "TYPE" of game, it's going to be a FPS style RPG. Futuristic weapons, spaceships, etc. Except the characters are going to be animals. The purpose of the concept art was not to let you know too much about the details, as I haven't fleshed out those myself. Well, I guess I could help if you want a level designer.. (im pretty experienced with worldcraft)However im sure you know this but err senseless slaguter of bad guys has been done, many, many times before..
  6. It would help if we knew what you wanted to do---
  7. quote: You see, I was taking into account the one HUGE, GIANT, GREAT difference between those wars and now. I wasn't fighting in those wars. Prepare to be RANDOMED! Ha ha ha ha ha! Yeah wouldnt it suck if one of the officers you needed were killed right before you launched..
  8. 1. *Well there is that planet (forgot what its called) with the crashed galaxian probe in it-- (one time I found another gal/exp probe on the planet, tried to capture it, but it got away) you can check that out but a shuttle wont last too long on the planet (the atmosphere causes damage and instantly kills anybody outside your craft).. *You can check out the supernovas-- I dunno whats the deal with them being there.. 2.There are supposed to be a bunch of ingame secrets-- one having to do with that crashed gal/exp probe.. 3. Shuttles are the fastest thing I can think of(and weakest spacecraft) but once you run out of charge your in trouble... Stormcarriers are wayyyyyyyyy to cruise around the galaxy.
  9. I thought it was a ritual for players to try and slaughter devs at their own game..
  10. To be the games first greatest space pirate.. Other than that relieve the cargo from unsuspecting traders or ships weak from battle.
  11. Check your--- darn BCM isnt installed.. Look in the manual, (the one on your BCM CD) poke around in there and there should be a full list of all the commands. (Check the VCF for any key updates- I think there were a few changes to FP mode nothing major though...)
  12. 1. Go to logistix, select your command craft, look through the decks for your damaged reactor , click on it and the rest is self explanatory. The only thing that will repair your systems automatically is JAC. Though in some cases if I remember correctly if your CE's AI is high enough, he will assign engineers to repair critical systems. 2. Flux fields have multiple exits, (you cant choose which exit, its random) some of them lead to black holes. (which is how your ship got destroyed. 3. Use the tactical computer and figure this one out for yourself, a monkey could do it. 4. You can only pick up cargo pods with a shuttle, when its launched order it to cargo sweep and it will pick up all cargo pods in region.
  13. Darn-- too many sci-fi games comming out. Space Rangers doesn't even look very fun for that matter.
  14. Wow all of these new sci-fi MM games comming out (I myself am waiting for Neocron).. Too bad later on in the year 2004 or something there will be an article in PCG entitled 'They never saw BCO comming..'. However Eve does look like a force to be rekoned with..
  15. quote: Uh oh! BeWalt.... fix your sig dude! You need to put your sys profile in it! Just a friendly reminder. Ya dont need youe sys profile in your sig anymore unless you post in tech support.. But its a good idea to have it in there anyways.. -- For the mining (just to be on topic) I just use one wp per shuttle telling em to deploy drones. The shuttles then jump to the planet, 'blow their load' then they come back and I go plunder or somethin'.
  16. quote: The Earth, the Moon, every planet I have landed on, every hostile mzone I have landed in. I have never seen an enemy marine. I have been out of my CC attacking the base with my marines, and at times without them. Never once did an enemy ground unit fire on me or even acknowledge my presence. Try sending 10 or 20 marines from your cc down. The base will send out about 4 or 5x more then what you have (they seem to spill from every building! ) and of course they will butcher your marines. Though I see your point for enemy ground units ignoring me. Only time they shot at me was in marine IA scenarios.
  17. quote: yeah i agree with ShoHashi. Ghost Recon is definetely a good game and 6 hours can pass while your playing without realizing it. as for OP:F i don't have it. BTW tell the guys at PC Gamer which one they think is better. they'll say GR. trust me. GR has some cool weapons like the OICW. it even comes with a grenade launcher. OFP also has a gernade launcher. quote: Grayfox, try Ghost Recon and you'll probably end up changing your mind . there's a good chance though that you'll change your mind and if you have a good system you can see the excellent effects. while i was playing GR, my team was launching grenades at the enmy while our other riflemen came up to shoot at them. the sounds seemed so realistic to me as we shot the enemies. it seemed like i was at war. With a high-end system you can check out some pretty cool looing battles in OFP. (ya know, tanks, planes, mines, corpses ect.) In fact you can even be the pilot, driver, gunner, ect of the numerous vehicles. (this is the reason why I chose ofp instead of GR) quote: overall while i have no idea what OP:F is like i would definetely recommend GR for the types who like specialized forces and stuff like going through cities and using stealth to your advantage Ah yes, OFP sucks when it comes to running around indoors id call OFP the perfect war game if you could run around indoors without getting that 'awkward' feeling. (you people who have ofp should know what im talking about) However outdoors- GR is no match for ofp.. Nothing like driving half way across everon in a jeep and running into a forest in a mp game. Stealth is also needed too if you plan on beating the game at night being a black op crawling is the next best thing to being invisible but all in all if I wanted to play a rainbow 6 type game id play GR. If I wanted an all out WAR id play ofp. *Speaking of mission editing can any ofp players here send me a simple example of a AI group ejecting out of a heli? I can never seem to get that to work. Even when I use the scripts from OFP editing center..
  18. quote:even with no life support...shouldn't the crew still be able to live just fine if you land on a planet with a friendly environment? cause I tried that on earth..and they were losing health...since when did earth's atmosphere become toxic???The ship is air-tight.. Wouldn't you start to--how should I put this.. 'Degrade' if you were working in a 100+ (or 0-) degree environment and you were breathing air that has already been in someone else's lungs? If your crew were out of the ship walking around the planet I think they would get a little tired after a while and hungry .
  19. Eclipse, I know that. Where did I say that you use one ship to attack? Most stations have 15 sfm's that outnumbers your average joe supercarrier's sfm compliment by 5. Id also imagine in BCO that there will be a stronger force inside to tackle(or not). Actually it might be a good idea to use cloak if you want to have some fun and not get too messed up while you launch marines and go along with.. As for cloaking-- I STILL say BAH! to it. even if I get messed up in the process
  20. quote: As far as hunting them, you'd have to wait for the static discharge and try and spot them, or wait for them to fire. You could always do a Crazy Ivan. Russian submarine manuver where you turn suddenly to try and see behind you. This tactic in BCM would make you an unpredictable target. Also keeping your EMD on at the first sign of a static discharge would keep the missles off your back, but also blind you. Your best tactic would be to have the fleet travel as a group for mutual protection when they do uncloak. They can only keep the thing on for a limited time, which is your best option. Wait them out. Heh just mine the jumpgates-- If hes bigger than you id suppose after the crew has a nice green glow he will uncloak and turn you into space dust- or if its smaller I suppose id take a chance and go for the jumpgate or planetfall--. quote: on another note... now that stations engage targets at the same distance that you jump in at (i.e. you hyperjump to a station only to get blasted while coming out of warp) does anyone have a good idea on how to approach them? Well, cant do this in BCM but in BCO or whatever you could get a bunch of SFM's and send em out there to gain entry and crash the party. Then while the stations marines are taking care of the little problem regarding 80+ sfm's painting the walls beam some mim's & efm's on to engineering along with the CE and some sys eng's to mess with power settings.. Eheh after that if the station didnt surrender jump in with a couple of large ships and then the station should be yours. But since that isnt happening in BCM-- then I suppose one should attack with a fleet head on and takeover the station. (I simply LOVE the idea that stations are this hard to kill now!) As for cloaking-- im still saying BAH! to it.. [ 03-19-2002, 17:47: Message edited by: Carl Burning ]
  21. WOAH! that scarred the piss outta me and set my adrenaline level on full. I turned the speakers all the way up and was looking closely at the screen-- err then I almost fell outta my chair.
  22. quote: I'm not mad Carl I really appreciate that you're going to keep your CC visible so I can give your CE stuff to Fix. *grin* I think your missing the point of what I'm trying to say. I'm saying picking one element out of the offensive and defensive arsenals that you are given as a Commander and then saying that the use of that element is for "losers" is just a foreign concept to me......If you were cheating in some way I could understand...but the cloaks are within the normal parameters of the game. And while I do realize this is a game, when I play I'm going to try my best to win or at least do well.....and I will utilize every thing that I can to do so. I will enjoy snooping around the region looking for cloaked people like you.. Im interested in hearing how everyone would go about on 'the hunt' for someone cloaked in a region.
  23. quote: I'm going to have to say that I'm kinda puzzled by this attitude. A warrior will use whatever weapons are at hand to most effectively complete the mission or attrit the enemy. A good commander will use all resources available to do the same AND keep his people and ship out of harms way. I think it would be safe to say that most of the crew and most certainly the Chief Engineer enjoy "all systems Green" Its a game man, the RL value of your CC is nothing. Im not going to cry about it if someone really messes up the ship. As a commander its your choice what you do with your ship and any damage done to the CC is the commanders fault.. Mabey I was being a little off saying "cloaking is for losers".. Heh that was me expressing my opinion Im not going to flame anyone I see who uses cloak, I just dont intend on using it- ever. quote:It would be just as arbitrary to say only losers use vagrants. Playing against real commanders is gonna be much different than playing the AI ships....I think you better learn to use that cloak as well as you can...or spend a lot of time as space debris In my experience of the BC series and other peoples opinions vagrants seem to be one of the best types of STS msl's out there. If I were TALKING about mp then I would just say plain missels because it may end up that vag's are the WORST choice of msls to be using aganist a human player. Everyone may end up switching msls constantly depending on many differnt factors such as what type of CC the enemy is using, what kind of stragety is being used ect. No I dont intend on using cloak very often (if not at all) in mp either. quote:Non-Valiant? WTF are you talking about? Your job is to accomplish your mission and try to preserve your people and assets....who said anything about being Valiant? My mistake, I guess. I thought this was a simmulation of being a military commander.....not just a gamer going and getting his A$$ shot off because it "Kewl" but ....that just my opinion Like I said its just a game, in servers where your stats are wiped after a game who CARES what state your ship is in.. Its not going over to the next game so might as well go all out.. RP servers are different however, since your stats are supposedly saved you may not want to jump into battle like a crazed fool. People will be a little reluctant to be the first wave of ships aganist a space station that there is no time to siege. This would be ESPECIALLY true in BCO. No need to get mad over this. Besides-- even in BCO I still wouldnt use the cloaking device-- but ....that just my opinion BTW sorry SC about the sig I completely forgot about it. (I ment to fix it a LONG time ago but I forgot) Ill fix it ASAP [ 03-15-2002, 11:26: Message edited by: Carl Burning ]
  24. Amass on weapons, spare parts, ect, start at GHQ, blitz toward gammula home planet leaving the wrecked hull of every enemy starstation in my path, and come back glorious from battle with a batterd battlecruiser and my crew who went in newbies, come out battle hardened veterans who were kept nourished off of the flesh and blood of intruders.. Then get order of the universe for ripping the gammulans in half..
  25. quote: So, Carl...are you saying that using your cloak on the attack is not a good tactic? I like to cloak when I hear the word, "Aquired" - then move to my enemy's sweet spot. Go to TACSCAN and hit "D" (Match Designated Target's Speed) I guess that would be defined as one of the defensive uses of your cloaking device. You disappear, move to your enemy's sweet spot....uncloak and BAM! Let 'em rip!!! When he send his SOS, tractor beam his ass and haul him to a station. You see but that isnt FUN.. If I heard "aquired" then id see if its worthy of me paying attention-- if it is then id just say bring it on and load up on vagrants(sp).. Then of course id charge into battle and rip em a new one-- If it was fighters when id just send my fighters to get em off me and let PTA finish the job.. Now dont get me wrong--- if I had a chance id disable the ship and board it in first person with some marines and have some fun.. Infact I wouldnt use cloaking to do that either-- (but until then I prefer the ship to be a smoking wreck instead of taking the time to tow it) So I still stand on cloaking being an overused non-valiant tactic.. but thats just me
