  1. I'm not talking the subs. I'm talking about YOUR craft AFTER you leave it in ON the carrier deck, exit it and dive overboard. Later when you are done with your expedition, if you are too far away and you can't get within range (even after targeting it in the DIE and pressing ALT+D), you won't be able to get back on board your craft.

Yeah, I know all that; but you folks are still missing the point I'm making. OK, simply put, how could they tell from the transmissions that each iteration lasts ~30 seconds? I only heard the computer say the number of iterations. Maybe thats what I'm missing because without knowing how long each one lasts, there is nothing to calculate. Thats what I keep saying that its either the script or I'm missing something that wasn't said. Then again, I missed the comic angle too. I'm so glad I still have it on TiVo

It IS probably in the script and it DOES probably make sense; but I've watched that particular segment on TiVo almost four times now and the information is inconclusive for anyone wanting to rely on the math - rather than the script - to determine how they came up with 16yrs. Its like someone saying 2+30E+07 and the other person - without much thought - saying, ...oh yeah, thats nine Unless I'm missing something here, all we have to attribute the 16 years is them concluding that it was 16yrs. I guess they didn't think whackos would be trying to do the math. Unless I'm missing something. quote: Originally posted by Cmdr Chavik: I have thought on that. I felt it odd that a white man was explaining to a black boy the difference between light and dark and didn't want to touch it. LOL!!! I just thought he was just plain crazy. Of course, in last night's episode, he goes and craft's a whistle. And the dog comes. Spooky.

Takes about 4 minutes.... but im thinking perhaps there are djp's there, i dont know ill look. How exactly do you expect him to get there? Swim from shore - for almost 50km? heh. Rix, just land on the deck of one of the carriers in the area, exit the craft and dive overboard. Or land one of your shuttles (they can float) on the water and dive overboard. Using the shuttle you have a means of getting back on board. But diving off the side of a carrier means you probably won't make it back since your craft (on deck) would be too far for you to get back on. And the underwater base is just below the earth331[NBASE] mzone.

  6. Where did you buy the game without a manual? BCM Gold - all versions - come with fully PRINTED manual. And please fix your sig. In the time it took for you to type that up, you could have done that. Also, please indicate where you are from in your forum registration. n/a is not a valid location.
  7. Wot are you talking about? He was MY (as is for a LOT of people) favorite comedian; and I will miss him.

  9. Naval units and subs appear in UCHTL and are user controlled. They are not in UCHI. The only naval units which can be controlled in UCHI, are the three LCAC units.
  10. No. Try not to get damaged so badly. Besides, why do you have to do it at the station? You don't. If you use your own engineers, you could still be flying around without having to stay parked at a station for long periods of time.
  11. They should be seeing a psychiatrist; not relying on a gadget to curb their self-esteem issues.
  12. The fleet server is back up. I will also have the two public servers up for a while longer. But as soon as my bandwidth starts getting high, I'll take them offline until the following month once the bandwidth resets.
  13. Running on a laptop, it could be any number of things. The game is not supported on laptops I'm afraid. Even with that Mobility 9600 chip, you shouldn't have to change anything related to the graphics acceleration. Just make sure you are running the latest drivers. If you have been messing with the game options, read the FAQ on how to generate a new one. Then go back and only change the absolutely necessary options (e.g. turn music off, set your screen res etc). As indicated in the config PDF file - you should NOT - use the model preload option unless you have enough memory. Looking at the specs for that M1 laptop, you definitely shouldn't do it.
  14. No worries. Besides, you and I go way, way, way back, so, I have no idea what you're apologizing for. You tell it like it is - however misguided - and thats good enough for me. Anyway, UC - Hostile Intent has just been announced and I have uploaded a bunch of early shots, movies etc. UCHI removes 80% of the complexity removed right there. Its a totally different kind of game. Anyway discuss over here.

Then he gets quiet for awhile with a "shh i'm concentrating" (or something) while he calculates. They go through it to fast, but I'm pretty sure JJ didn't break Deus ex Machina . Yeah, but I'm not buying it. I'm a math major and I can't think of ANY information in that scene that could have led to the conclusion that the transmission had been going on for 16+ years. Last night I even went back and listened to it frame by frame. Nope. Nada. Nothing. As for the comic, I went back to that section (on my Tivo) and apart from seeing a great big Polar bear, Flash Gordon (?) and some other comic dude, I can't quite tell what the significane of the comic is. FraXis!!!!! get in here and spill the beans - without ruining it for everyone!

Like we didn't know that - whats 'er name again - was actually the prisoner on the aircraft! And how J.J. - that sneaky b*astard - didn't show shrapnel guy's face until toward the end. So now we know things are going to get really interesting. quote: The one item that everyone should be concentrating on in Lost "Pilot: Part 2" is the comic book that Walt was reading. wot!??! Just by listening to the same repeating signal. Heh, this is the part that I found hillarious, actually. See, after the french voice said its bit, the english voice counted out the numbers. Those numbers actually represented the amount of times the distress call had been transmitted. Syeed (sp?) took that number and the length of the recording, did some math in his head, and translated the result to be 16 years. OK, thats just crazy. I know math like I know the back of my hand, but unless he knew what those numbers represented - which he DID NOT know - there is no way in hell he could have figured that out. Even THEN - as I sit here typing this - I'm keep thinking ...'ang on a goddamn minute! 'ave been had! Even then he couldn't have deduced that conclusion from the info he had!! Damn TV, they think all viewers are idiots.

They killed, uhm, a Polar bear. On a tropical island. OK, this leads me to believe that there is a massive Gorilla on the loose. Which would explain the pilot on the high branches and him not being eaten. So, FraXis, am I close? How can a transciever (obviously from the previous French folks that crashed there I presume) be transmitting for 16+ yrs, when the one they got from their crash aircraft, was already almost out of batteries? And how - in God's name - could that ex-Republican Guard military guy, figure out - from transmitting intervals - that the signal had been transmitting for 16+ years. Just by listening to the same repeating signal. These two things are beginning to ruin it for me and I really wanted to like this series in a 24 kinda way. Oh well, at least the character development - and the characters themselves - are strong and believable. Nothing like having a crack-head and an anti-social Japanese wife abuser, on a remote island.
  22. The mp servers - which should have been taken offline back on July 31st - are now offline as far as UC is concerned. Once the current maintenance and restructuring is over, only one UC (the fleet server) will be back online for public use. The other servers will be used for our newer games. UC gives the ability for anyone to setup their own server and the free period during which Dreamcatcher made servers available and which 3000AD extended by two months, is now over.
