  1. Most game download sites have the option to burn to CD-ROM; sometimes for free (e.g. Trymedia's on www.trygames.com site). As for printed manuals, it is highly unlikely that most will offer it, since the cost of these games are already low enough for anyone to print PDF manuals. Offering printed manuals adds another layer of complexity and logistix which is not possible unless the publisher is setup to offer them. The very reason for offering games online from a site like TryGames, Direct2Drive etc is for immediate access to the games offered by third parties; not the original publishers. So if Activision or 3000AD Inc offered games on TryGames for example, TryGames would handle the distribution but the publisher (Activision, 3000AD etc) would have to offer manuals as well. And that would mean two separate entities. Its get complicated. Only when the game and the manual are coming from the same source (e.g. as in the game of Dominions II), that one would most likely find the option for a printed manual; and sometimes at an additional cost. e.g. Matrix Games sells Starshatter from $39.99 ( ) to $49.99 depending on the medium. No printed manual.
  2. Yeah and I'm gonna start saving up for it.
  3. After reading this, I think I need to have a word with that hawk in my backyard.

  5. hehe, the on going saga of Shingen and his TDH rejects. Let the record show: you wanted to lead. Its not so easy, is it?
  6. Yeah, its the same issue related to the texture cache mentioned in the VCF.

I take it that you noticed the stuttering effect in the bases has always drastically reduced? FYI, that AHS system is a direct rip from ucHTL's revised flight dynamics. I just figured that I might as well put it in since it would help tremendously when covering large distances. [ 09-28-2004, 03:46 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  8. I did get the file and checked it out and I did send you a reply email. The file looked fine to me (though it does have a problem and thats why it won't load into 2.00.14) and the reason you can't repair a 60% unit is because it is not damaged enough to be considered inoperable. Thats why when you - as you said - exit the craft and damage it to 54%, you can repair it. Its in the manual.
  9. Possibly. Sorry! Hey, look at it this way: you get a clean, fresh start. Anyway, the VCF is there; if anyone values their saved games enough to not upgrade for the benefits of the patch, then don't.

  11. The ships are not race specific.

If they were demons, they won't be skulking in the forests; they'd be out ripping up stuff from the minute the plane crashed. They're not zombies because those are too stupid to hide. OK, so they're not dinos Wild geese maybe? I don't see how they could keep it up through an entire season. I mean, once they reveal it, the series is dead; no season two.
  13. No, the game will run an integrity check for corruption, cheats, out of synch records etc. Usually you will get an error about a "dynamic" entity. If that happens, you can't use that saved game. I put this in particularly so that I have more information about saved games and how people end up hosing their games due to something going on from their end and blaming the game for it. e.g. as was your case of a few days ago.
  14. How about the performance now on the planet when flying around a scene? Once the models are loaded once (the initial hiccup), it should be smooth, instead of chugging along sometimes as it used to do. There will be some slowdowns during some explosions and whatnot but there is a method I am looking into for ucHTL right now and which I will probably port into UC.
  15. LOL!!! Read this first; then go to the bottom of the page and read the copyright notice.
  16. Anyone tried the AHS yet along with the tutorial for it? [ 09-25-2004, 02:21 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  17. btw, the patch will invalidate some saved games. It was late when I wrapped up the patch yesterday, so I didn't have time to add this to the patch version of the VCF; though its in the online version.
  18. So who has it? Here is a hilarious accounting from our neighborly time wasters.
  19. Hopefully, yeah.
  20. I have released the 2.00.14 patch which contains a new eight page tutorial starting on p62. This shows basic planetary navigation, along with other stuff including how the new AHS works. Your comments are welcome. Enjoy!
  21. Check the reg page. The online VCF has also been updated. You have to positively read the VCF before applying this patch. You have been warned. For those of you new to UC. You need to install the v2.00.00 patch first, before installing this patch on top of it. The zip file contains the MD5 hash file. You can use a program such as WinMD5 to compare this hash against the file you downloaded. To check the download's MD5 hash, do the following: download the patch and extract the contents into the game install folder. Run winMD5 (or similar program) Go to File/Open MD5 file and load the patch MD5 file located in the game install folder. Go to File/Open File and load the patch file you downloaded above. If winMD5 reports the status as good, then your patch downloaded correctly and can be used to patch the game.
  22. VU need the money; so they won't sit on HL2.
  23. You can't exit a craft in space when you are a pilot. Why? because he is a pilot, not a space marine.

And if its not recognized, it will not be loaded. quote: Is the latest UC version really 105% rock stable with no single crash? When I accidently hit the windows button and switch to windows, EVERY time switching back to UC the game crashes. Sound loops and screen didnt come up. So I only can end the process. Is this normal or only at my system? Can't help you with that. Contact Microsoft or look in this tech support section for an existing thread that has some solutions you can try.
