I don't think any gamer in their right minds would buy this card, now that we have all the details about it. However, casual gamers who also do content production work, may find uses for it. Only high-end games such as fp shooters, sims etc, require GF4 type speed. Other games don't.

Stuff happens. So, try to deal with it and find a way to prevent mishaps - on your own - instead of whining like a baby everytime you encounter something you can't explain. If you can't handle being a commander, why not try a simpler career? You'll fit right in with the likes of Resnig in the incompetency dept if you keep getting your crew killed. Another reason is that (as I just said to Brad via email) is that buying games online is more of a hazard these days for gamers, more than anything else. If you buy a game online, you have a harder time returning it (assuming you can) than if you bought it from a store where you can walk in and ***** to the manager about it. Sad really.

BCM did just fine - or there won't be a BCG, let alone a BCTC, BCTC, BCO or EFC to speak of. Though the additional sales of a wider coverage would also have been most welcome as any additional money is still money that goes toward the development of more cool stuff. Small developers don't have the anxiety of having to sell humongous numbers in order to break even and/or recover costs and stay in business of developing games. If I had to sell anywhere near the kind of units of more high profile games in order to break even and see a profit, I too would have been sweating back in 11/01. Everything boils down to profit and loss, as well as recovering the revenue stream (as he mentioned : getting your money from the publishers, retailers etc on time) from whoever has your product. With publishers, you have an advance you can probably live on. Going direct, you have no such luxury and have to live and die by the sales. And since retailers pay on a net basis less their returns (depending on the deal), you are still in a similar situation as with publishers and royalties : you have to pray that you get paid on time and that the returns are accurately reconciled. So far, EB has been really good to me. No complaints there. But it is highly unlikely that I'd do another exclusive due to the impact and the flak I've taken from the other retailers (who sold my previous titles through publishers - and made money on them) - unless the end result was a major financial benefit. Its the difference between selling 1 unit and sell 1+n units, where n can be any additional sales that other retailers could generate, that EB couldn't. e.g. some people don't have local EB stores or they can't purchase online. You know, stuff like that. Brad's right about the online game sales being low though. The EB store sales were significantly higher than the ebworld.com online sales; which in turn were significantly higher than the BMT Micro online sales. BMT only handled international sales, however.

Hilarious in parts, but not the ground breaking animated movie it was hyped up to be. It is watchable however (if you go in with no expectations) and the kids should get a kick out of it. 5/10

I forgot to post about this one which we saw when it first came out. Brilliant!! The best animated story you will see this year (or any year for that matter). Go see it! 10/10

The same thing came to mind, but I forgot to mention it. Yep, I remember that episode quite well!!

Brad's got another one of his articles online. While I don't agree with some of it, he got the general gist of it all. http://www.avault.com/developer/getarticle...name=bwardell10 [ 06-25-2002, 05:40 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

For example, go to Tacops, choose CC, and set a waypoint 1 as "go to next" and waypoint 2 as "wait for orders". Then turn CC autopilot on (in space) and CC should enter atmoshpere at waypoint 1 and fly to waypoint 2 and stop. That way you can land at any specific place on the moon. You can also just set a single waypoint and then enter the planet manually. You will establish planetfall at that waypoint location. Yes, this too is covered in the manual. In detail. -

The shuttle lands a long way away, but my marines dont even atempt to run towards it after its landed. Ive selected them for evac, but they dont move. SC, does the fact that the shuttle over shoots its waypoint mean that the AI of the pilot is too low? I dont have any really high AI marines/pilots to see if it lands closer. I think I know what the problem is. I need to merge some other piece of code I just looked at. The pilot will seek out the best landing spot. Even the lowest AI pilot should be able to find one. So thats not the problem. It works fine in BCG and I just tested it in BCM as well (with a change I just made) and it works fine. I'll probably upload another RC today or tomorrow. In case you were wondering, the default Situational Awareness (SA) value is too low, thats why the marines don't know the shuttle has actually landed. This value was introduced in BCG and never existed in BCM. Up until now, that it

You won't hear some of the fp weapon sounds. In which case, download this small update and unzip it (with folders) into your BCM install over. It replaces one of the INI files in the DATA folder. This file is now included in the original RC9 patch which has also been re-uploaded. BCM 1.0.08RC9( [ 06-23-2002, 07:22 PM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

As I thought, the deployment is a ai+dynamics issue. So, for now, you can either keep trying and hope the shuttle actually does it, or, do it manually yourself from the shuttle HUD menu. Sorry, but it is a release candidate patch I have sorted out the jumping issue by reducing the threshold.

quote: Originally posted by Remo Williams: Just deployed mining drones by shuttle using way points. Worked fine for me. I'll see if I can deploy troops and my other vehicles now. Let me know about troops and vehicles. This could be shuttle type related; since the dynamics are different for each craft. So, let me know what shuttle type you folks are using and we'll see if thats the problem. If it is, all it needs is a minor tweak to the dynamics params for the craft. quote: Sure like how the shuttles land, then count down to dust off. Very cool! Another of several subtle BCG feature I ported over to BCM - just for the hell of it. If you really want to blow your mind, try this pack a bunch of marines into a shuttle set three waypoints (1) deploy team (2) deploy drone (3) extract team - around a friendly base and make sure that the distance between the waypoints is at least 2.5km (1.68 mls) beam down a team (4) of marines about 500m from the location of the 3rd waypoint. mark all members of the team for extraction put your CC on hold (A/P) and beam your AE down to the location of marine team marked for extraction. launch the shuttle so that it carries out the waypoint orders Depending on where you are, you should see the shuttle land at the 3rd waypoint. And since the team is far away, they will then start to run toward the shuttle. You can even beam your AE down to the first waypoint to see the shuttle deploy the team, then sprint (or jetpack) your way over to the 3rd waypoint. When I tried that during testing, it was so cool, I started shooting my marines to make them run faster. I even managed to have the shuttle leave a marine behind once. Poor b*astard was too injured to run fast....and he got left behind. But we went back and got him though. Now, if you're really up to it, try reproducing this scenario within hostile territory while under fire. [ 06-23-2002, 11:26 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

quote: Originally posted by krelian: i had the same problems with mining drones. I set the waypoints for all four SCs to deploy drones on Earth. The shuttles got to the waypoints, and just landed nearby. Then i got "SC1, dust off in 5..." messages at the top of the screen. after that, all the shuttles RTB'ed. none of the drones were deployed. This only happened under the new patch. Lemme guess, you never bothered to check and see if it deploys vehicles or troops, correct?
