  4. OK, for movie, I have a dedicated scale which I use to rate them. Normally, I'd just give a score and be done with it. However, not this time. You see, the scale goes like this pure, utter, crap rubbish. wait for the DVD if you want to see it Go see it if you like this kind of movie After sitting through minority report for the better part of almost three hours (it started late, which meant sitting around in the theatre for about 15 mins past the start time), unfortunatly, not only is it dull, boring, ludicrous and not worth the sitting - there is nothing compelling or worth watching in the movie. Nothing. Tom, as always, gives a great performance. But even that is not enough to carry this movie. Hey, I liked The Fifth Element and watches it twice at the theatre. This movie isn't even close to The Fifth Element in any shape or form. Once you watch this movie, you will find no reason to even see it again, let alone rent or buy the DVD (even if you're a collector). This movie was so bad in so many ways, the fact that I'm stilling posting about it, should tell you just how pissed I am that this movie turned out this way. This movie is pure and utter rubbish. Since AI, I had suspected that Spielberg had lost his touch. Now, it just proves that he's also gon' and frigging lost his mind along with it. If you hated AI, don't bother watching this movie. It is the same, boring, ludicrous farce. The one point I give it is only because of Tom and Peter's* performance. If it wasn't for that, this movie would be rated 0/10 on my scale. 1/10 *If you have recently seen Windtalkers and Sum Of All Fears, you'd have noticed Peter Stormare making the rounds in both. Well, he's in Minority Report too. Since I saw him in Fargo (one of the hired killers) and Armageddon (the Russian cosmonaut), I knew that he was going to be big. He is such a believable character actor that no matter what he's doing, you just want to keep watching him. Damn fine actor. Hope he gets bigger.

He's probably refering to the keyboard sheet as a cheat sheet. Dunno. Ask him. Heh, this should really trip him up..... Hey Mike, what does this cheat sheet look like? My fps on a Radeon 8500 64MB went from 45fps to about 60fps (about the same on my GF3 and a little higher on my GF4 cards) under the same conditions. As always, YMMV. If you even bothered to run it at 800x600x32 and 1024x768x32, you should probably notice that you don't take a significant fps hit as you normally would. Apart from that, the loading times have pretty much reduced by half as well. quote: Also, running forward, then hitting F (jetpack) will cause enormous damage in little time, and won't take off.[/QB]Thats normal because the jetpack gives you forward speed and at impact with the ground, thats when the calculations are done. The jetpack is for airborne movement. And I just checked it, as long as your feet are not touching the ground, you won't take any damage from using the jetpack. The whole purpose of putting in these realistic values is to prevent bungie jumping and abuse of the jetpack on mp servers (since only EFMs and the cmdr have them). When in doubt, read the VCF and it should be obvious how this works. Even for you. Last warning: EVERYBODY needs to read ALL the VCF entries for 1.0.08.
  7. quote: Originally posted by $iLk: When starting a new career, and flying my ship down to earth I got out in first person. Every time that I jumped, I would take 5 - 7 points of damage. Just regular spacebar jumping. Didn't have this problem before the patch, and I did a fresh install + install Patch 1.0.07 then unzipped the 1.0.08 patch as instructed. Will check it out. You are probably jumping too high. If you look in the VCF, you will see why this is happening. I probably need to reduce the amount of damage when dropping. quote: Also I lost my darned serial number... Please don't hit me.Why do you need it? I see your system profile in your sig just fine. If you need your serial number, check your reg profile. It should be there.
  8. quote: Originally posted by krelian: has the range for galcom's PTA turrets changed? i got destroyed from much farther away than usual. could be just my imagination though. No. The only changes made are those in the VCF
  9. You might want to compare your fps in 1.0.07 to those in 1.0.08. Let me know what sort of improvements you are seeing. If you post without your rig specs in your sig, you will be banned.

  11. All previous RC patches have been deleted. This patch absolutely requires a clean CDROM install of BCM. Check the FAQ for steps on how to uninstall, re-install and apply a patch. Check GNN for more info on this RC23 patch release. EDIT: I forgot to update the contrail tags on the jetpack models in the RC23 update. You can download thisjetpack models update (8K) file and unzip it into the BCM folder (with folders intact) after patching to RC23. [ 11-04-2002, 09:50 AM: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  12. ...uhm, do you guys want a Beta of the 1.0.08 patch? I haven't finished merging all the revisions yet, so one or two things might be, well, off Let me know and I'll get right on it
  13. Another day Another upgrade Another colossal screw-up I accidentally uploaded the full UBB 6.3.01 to the site, thereby wiping out all previous specialized settings. Essentially setting everything back to the defaults. Thank God for backups So, if you notice anything odd, thats what happened. I'll be in this corner over there.
  14. quote: Originally posted by Michael: Okay, I have invested a couple hours searching for a list of keyboard shortcuts and have come up empty. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I don't know what it is. What's really frustrating is that I used to have one printed off, but have lost it. Help!! What game are you talking about? Since you have BCM (seeing that you have it registered in the online DB), what happened to your keyboard sheet that came with it? Suprisingly (?), the rest of the ladies responding to this thread, didn't see it fit to make this inquiry. [ 06-21-2002, 11:59: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  15. The GTA3 hack above doesn't seem to affect the smoke grenades in BCM, only in BCG.
  16. quote: Originally posted by Unforgiven_Killer: Im an idiot.....thanks for the info. No, you're just a newbie. No idiots in this thread....yet
  17. quote: Originally posted by Commander Elio Jason: you know i liked the GalCom HQ that is still in BCM..... Its still there. There are BCG shots of the revised version with the 3020 facelift
  18. quote: Originally posted by Wolferz: Well, it appears from the results of the poll that the point is moot. When I played Air Warrior from a 56k connection I was always getting spanked by the guys running on the faster connections, even though they had the proverbial "smoothing code" built in, It didn't work as intended. After finally gaining access to the net via DSL those spankings were reversed, except for the guys who were running on T-1's and T-3's. They were the only bullies who could eat my lunch. I see no valid arguement in desegregating connection speeds. Keeping the playing field level for all participants is the only way to maximize the experience for all. Otherwise you will have the typical "Elite Speed" players thrashing the slower connections to the point of losing interest. There is nothing more annoying than seeing a red screen of death when you think you are the only entity in the area. I for one could never buy that "He came at you from out of the sun" garbage. For those who voted no I would strongly suggest you try learning a little more about the subject before going off half cocked. Well said!
  19. ATI went and broke the table fog in these drivers. If you are running BCM or GTA3 (fix here), the planetary terrain will show up all White. The only way around this is to disable support for table fog in the registry. And this breaks the smoke grenade btw. For BCM, the GTA3 fix (above), might work. It replaces two drivers. Be sure to READ the install notes which are displayed when applying this patch. Then go to your WINDOWSSYSTEM32 folder and make backup copies of those two drivers it replaces!! This way, if the GTA3 fix has adverse effects, you can just delete those two drivers and go back to the previous files without having to re-install the 6094 drivers from scratch. If the GTA3 fix does not solve the problem, you have to do this: Because the ATI driver does not have the table fog entry in the registry by default, you have to use a tool to disable it. Download Rage3DTweak 3.3 and install it Reboot Go to Display Properties and from the Rage3DTweak tab enable table fog (double-click on the 3D DirectX tab to access it) and click apply. This step creates the required registry setting for table fog setting and enables it. Reboot Repeat step #3 to disable table fog then click apply Reboot This step now disables table fog using the registry entry created in step #3
  20. EFC, an XBox title, is still very much alive but is under wraps atm.
  21. quote: Originally posted by Locutus: since there's no real reliable way to do it. Rubbish Next! quote: Also, as someone who's played many MP games at 56k, I can say that most games with a reasonable amount of depth (like BCM) have roles for laggy players built in (like the Engineer in TFC, or the commander of a huge, iceberg-slow carrier in BCM). I, for one, will just play the role that fits my connection...Bollocks. Did it occur to you that the career selections are not cut and dry as TFC? No? I didn't think so. I knew that the minute someone started voting against this initiative, it would be due to ignorance of the premise therein. The only sensible point I've seen so far, is that made my Cmdr Lara... *no f*cking way I'm spelling that out!!*...wrt servers being broadband only. Even that has a solution, since you can find a server to play on. If not, well, your SOL. Life's tough....and you have an Radeon 7500 while someone else has a geForce Ti4600. 22. New patch is out. Take a look at this fix list. And you thought my lists were bad
  23. Guess who hasn't been reading GNN ...Soback, thanks for even posting about it
  24. quote: Originally posted by Cmdr_ Laracuente: Seriously, the only thing that i think could get people vote against that is the fear of every but a few servers being broadband only.... Good point!! I didn't think of that.
