quote: converting the region file into text file with the utility that camed with GBS, then altered the data manually. heh, yeah right. That should do it. better quit while you're ahead quote: Perfect chance to make me look like a fool LOL!, you mean I haven't done that already? -
You guys are certifiably insane. And Tyrn, quit prancing about, you're already on my list :-) For one thing, all Fleet Leaders, CAT personnel, admins etc, already have a free pass to the Beta as well as others (who don't fit the above criteria) I had earmarked in the past, due to long standing service to the community (spacePhish, Parias and those other fairies of the cause, etc) So, newbies, casual visitors etc, can pretty much stop dreaming about getting in, now that I've decided not to do a public Beta (at least not until next year in lieu of multiplayer)

uhm, right Phish. I find it very hard to believe that you created new regions - because not only do you need a very high knowledge of the GBS, you also need to know how to use TED in order to do that. And since you didn't even know the format for the START command, I won't say that you have a high level understanding of GBS, would you? Of course, I remember your notion that GBS could be wrapped around a GUI. Of course, as usual, I was right...and that was abandoned quite quickly. tut, tut, tut -
Trading, but what?, from where?, and where to?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Rico Jansen's topic in General Discussions
Yep, its way off alright. Anyway, I don't think the calculations are wrong. Its just that the first letter of the tech level is being truncated for some odd reason. Its only text and bears no relevance to the internal calculations. The good news is that I just left Eltin in BCM, and the tech level display is fine. So, I guess its a graphics glitch of sorts, in BC3K. Dunno. -

SpacePhish, you didn't even do anything with GBS I, don't see what you hope to achieve with GBS II, which won't even be that much different. Please explain this jubilation. -

Steve, read the Appendix again read my chart above again tell us you managed to dock at Exin, assuming you didn't capture it. And if you were running a new game, I don't see how you could have captured it. take a look at your calculation for Craft Parts1 and tell me where you got the percentages you used, from. Rico, lemme know if you find anything. I seriously doubt that you will. But, since you started this, am waiting for a conclusion. -
It is my guess that the integrated video is probably an Intel i740 or i840. The FAQ covers this. Apart from that, what irks me is that it never ceases to amaze me how people just don't read docs. The FAQ clearly discusses the differences between a 3DFX card and a non-3DFX card.

The beta reg database goes online by the weekend. Justin has finished it but is making some changes I requested. I already have earmarked some people from here to join. So, once they register, they will be automatically approved. Others will be rejected.

heh, cool. I guess we'll be hearing from you, this time next year as for GBS II, my releasing it will depend on my schedule. Once BCM ships, its on to the massively multiplayer version, GCO. -

The prices are 100% accurately calculated according to the chart. But, do feel free to continue on a wild goose chase. Boredom is addictive, as I've seen you've taken quite a few people along for the ride. heh -
Why are there two threads devoted to this rubbbish?

I think he's asking about the BCM demo....which won't see the light of day until sometime in Q1 2001 anyway. I have decided to abort the public beta release and keep it internal (dev and beta teams only). Releasing a demo several months before the game is completed, is not such a good idea these days anyway.

I have uploaded my original design docs for the GBS. This is what I was using to finalize the gbs.txt document, but didn't finish it. Some of the items in this file (e.g. classes, messages etc) are no longer accessible from GBS but are built into AILOG (the game's AI kernel) which is why I was doing a new file that reflects the released GBS. Anyway, in the original docs, you will find a lot more info that in the gbs.txt file. But, you will have to figure out, on you own, whats obsolete, implemented etc. For BCM I will sit down and do proper docs if I decide to release GBS II to the public. Anyway, for your particular problem, go to line 1532 for the START syntax definition and to line 2314 for the time definition. Thats bogus and a wild goose chase at best. The letters in the info text being missing, have no basis or relevance on the internal equations used for the calculations. Text is not used for calculations, numbers are. Its probably a display glitch or something linked to the fleet stations I hacked into the game. Certainly nothing to do with the distance of the station. No such calculations are taken into account, nor performed. -

Dunno what you're looking at, but if there is any discrepancy, its in the appendix. As for the fleet stations I hacked in, the internal data is correct (or it will crash or all values will be the default as galcomhq) and the info obtained from the chart used for the info in Tradcom, may also be off. That info is not calculated. It is read directly off this table below. The table below is for BC3K v2.0x only. www.3000ad.com/gbs/navchart.txt [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 10-08-2000).] -

Impressive stuff Rico. Well done! btw, the appendix only shows the seed values. They are subject to change over time - due to the dynamic nature of the game, as you have noticed. Anyway, I can't wait see who decides they're going to be hauling goods around in an unarmed transport, just because it has a cargo bay capacity of 25x the typical BC. Funny thing though, I've neglected to do anything about the economy model because I don't think it will be a major focus in BCM. I simply cannot see anyone focusing on a trading career with all the fun stuff there is to do in BCM. At any rate, if I find time, I will overhaul it. If not, thats what patches are for. -
Anyone else get in on the Beta besides Andergum and Rattler? Looks like another Terminus type train wreck. .....we're coming
-
Thanks, I'll go disable those 2 now.

heh, I don't see how it makes running around Trenis faster. Herin is only one jump out of Trenis into Lanix-V or Arenis...unless of course you were over at Ronus IV - which isn't even part of that equation. To go to Scorpia from Herin, without this link, you'd probably go through Ronus IV, instead of Antis. heh, it was easier to break the link (an NPC found that one actually while I was running a pathing script) than to recreate the map.

Congrats!

ROTFLMAO!!! OK, now I've seen it all. Someone please pass the corn!...o' cripes, what the hell is Tac doing in the pool.....with a BMP-9? ....as for that steak? someone could get a concussion from just biting it? What happened to a conventional fire?? For crying out loud, Jamont, you can't cook steak over a powercell burst from a ZS10. Besides, I can still see marks....where the jockey was hitting it. /me - sauntering off to another corner of this mad cookout [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 09-27-2000).]

Are there any girls that play BC?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Commander Jamont's topic in General Chatter
OK, so this is the thread where it started. You guys need to relax. I think Hamblin should have excercised better judgement, seeing that we do have a female community here - and I think thats what Rattler and the others (in the other thread) are talking about. At any rate, Hamblin, just because someone downloads porn from the Internet, smokes, runs around naked outside, doesn't mean that its OK to post such info here. Similarly, while you may find the reference from the book appropriate, that doesn't mean its appropriate here. But sexist? Nah, don't think so. Just silly bad judgement. Nothing else. That is all. -
I need a WISE friend... :))
Supreme Cmdr replied to Aleksey Kichigin's topic in Battlecruiser Series
In the future, after the tip is posted, simply move it to the Archives section (admin only) and it won't be pruned. Better yet, someone could then collect all tips in a simple HTML file, which I could then link via the news icon at the top of the forum, or from the downloads page. -
That was an invalid link which I have disabled in BCM. If you have the statics.scr file from the GBS, search for JMP-36 and you will see both link end-points. Here's a novel idea, why don't you go on a TOD and see if you can find anymore of those? [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 09-25-2000).]
