IIRC, someone said something about not being able to save slot 0 games. Try starting a new game using profile 1 (the second slot) and see if that helps. And if you don't know how to stop the program so that you can see the error message, then you probably haven't read the FAQ or the site resources on this subject.

Yep. Steve's right. Anyway, I think its time that I did a public FAQ and post it. Will do so this weekend, now that I've released the latest patch. There is a very good chance that I will release a demo before the end of December.

Go sign up for the Beta. She'll really hate you then.

It had to happen. 3Dfx had it coming

Yep. I heard back from the Playnet upper echelon last week. They apologised and indicated that he has been instructed to refrain from posting anything related to me or my products etc. Too bad I can't post the email. Terse doesn't even explain it. I got emails from several other sites too. This guy is a train wreck. But, of course, he messed with the wrong person this time around.

Why everybody around seems to hate bc3k?
Supreme Cmdr replied to Epsilon 5's topic in Battlecruiser Series
quote: About hating the game, well it was voted one of the 10 more worst games in history ; i think it ranked 6th or something, but their loss right. Get your facts straight. That was the 1996-7 v1.0x. Nobody in the press has slammed BC3K v2.0x since it was released, as far as I'm aware. -
Doing a tutorial will be a monumental task due to all the gameplay options and careers. Heck, there are 6 careers to choose from, for crying out load. Besides, if I DID do a tutorial, what could possibly be in it and explained differently, that I don't already have in the excellent manual? I mean, a tutorial would show you how to select a target. But so would the Tacscan section in the manual. I have considered doing one, but I shiver each time I think about it. In fact, I did a Quick Start for the Beta and I suspect that the BC fans didn't even read it, since it didn't contain anything new, just a few titbits related to BCM changes, e.g. first person mode. Dunno what do to really. And since I'm probably the only one qualified to do a tuturial that would ship in the game, there is a very good chance that even if I did commit to doing one, I won't find time to do it. I am handling 98% of development right now, so, I'm stretched to the limit.

quote: I read that also. But I have no problems with it. If I interpret it correctly (please correct me if I'm wrong, Derek), my assumption is that the money will go to 3000AD where I'm sure it will be used to offset the cost of maintaining GCO. I have been trying to refrain from commenting on this, simply because it is far more complex that you folks realize. Further, I don't particularly want to reveal too much. However, rest assured, there will be normal servers where only in-game commerce is used, as well as servers where in-game and/or real-world commerce is used. There is no cross-over since both will require unique accounts. e.g. you can't create a persona/account on one server and use that persona/account on another. You'd need two separate accounts, which means monthly payments for both accounts. Again, the details are still up in the air.

Cruis. In, you are absolutely correct. Thanks for jogging my memory. I changed the MK2 to the MK3 because Jason completely redesigned the MK1 and MK2 models. This completely killed the original design of the flagship. So, with threats of physically harm, I made him create, yet a third ship which looked like the original ship from BC3K. And when he was done, it became the MK3 because it was much easier than having to go back and rename all the models, textures etc, for the MK1 and MK2 which he had completed. Also, this MK3 is the only ship in the game, with an internal docking bay. That was when I was mad enough to want to do manual docking in order to further add more complexity to the game. Besides, we wouldn't have had time for him to do all the carriers anyway due to their sheer number. So, in the end, only the MK3 and all the stations (except for New America) have internal docking bays. So, to cut a long story short, Brian was correct. Gallion, now apologise to Cruis. In

C'mon Gallion, give the guy a break!! You obviously don't expect him to remember that the MK1 was only in BC3K, MK2 came in BC3K v2x and MK3 in BCM. At least he made a slight error, compared to you who screws up almost on a weekly basis over in the Beta forum. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 12-11-2000).]

Go into safe mode, delete the video card and monitor entries. Then boot in normal mode and hope for the best.

Entertaining romp. Bruce Payne as the bad guy, is lethal and awesome as usual. Rating: 8/10

I took it out because it would have been too much hassle in MP - and it was less work for me to rip it out, than it was to make sure it worked right for single and multiplayer. I went for the easy route, especially since I don't believe that it added anything to the game premise. It was just one of my harebrained ideas I had when I first designed the series, and which ended being implemented. At least the SOS option is still in tact. I believe this to be of the same premise.

Don't look now, but I completely ripped out the evacuation sequence in BCM and have no plans to put it back in. You evacuate your ship, thats it. You're MIA and you don't get another craft. Only pilots can evac their fighters now and return to the command craft.

Every Friday, I get the IFilm newsletter and I spend a few minutes of my morning reading it. I saw Unbreakable the movie and an iFilm article in today's IFilm caught my eye. I read all of it (pretty interesting stuff). So, I took the aircraft test and came up with these results. quote: Derek, unfortunately the flight you were on crashed and burst into flames on impact. Very few accidents of this nature have survivors. However, based on the choices you made before and during the flight there is evidence of Unbreakable qualities in you.UNBREAKABLE EVIDENCE IN YOU: Intelligence points. The carry-ons you brought indicate you have a higher level intelligence. Communication and quick mental ability are your strengths. Strong confidence in ability to maintain physical health. Even when exposed to contagious germs, you never seem to suffer any consequences. Slight survival instinct. Moments before the plane crashed, you simply held on and waited for impact, indicating faith in a higher power to determine your fate. Derek Smart is 73% Unbreakable

...erm, OK, maybe not http://www.gamers.com/news/441621 btw, I checked my orders database to find out when he ordered the CD-ROM and discovered that the info used for the order, was from a female with the same last name. So, am thinking mommy perhaps? Now that would explain his vehemence and behavior. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 12-07-2000).]

Its trivial actually. They obviously have two skins for the same model. They probably just replaced the old skin with the new one. And to use the naked on, all they have to do is provide the older model and replace it in the resource file. As for the blood, its probably using particles. So, its just a color spectrum change. All trivial - or they won't have done it at the last minute.

What do you guys think about...............

Buy that card, and you'll regret it. Get the V3 -
I think we're all done here now

...and the penny dropsYep, just what I suspected. DA owed MS too much money (reportedly to the tune of $75m which MS gave DA back in 1996) and still couldn't turn a profitable title. So, this acquisition is just the MS corp machine getting a handle on their investment and taking full control. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 12-05-2000).]

Well, I couldn't post to the comments section of the new article he just posted, so I just replied in Mikes's thread above.
