  1. Nope
  2. OK, Karl. I'll beef up your security level right now.
  3. heh, he must have registered at the local AAA, cuz he's not in the database, as far as I can tell - unless someone already registered him.
  4. Rattler, when you get the chance, please send the marines and pilot ranks to me in email. I'll go from there. Thanks!
  5. The motto is optional, so, nobody has to use it if they don't want to - this way, if they think it sux, they'd be spared the agony.
  6. And btw, the quote/motto line should be whatever your fleet/wing uses, nothing else. This means that if a wing has a motto, then everyone in said wing, should have the same quote/motto line - not some random rambling.
  7. Hamblin, quote line is a single line only and it should only be the motto of your fleet/wing, not some random garbage.
  8. Pilots don't have ranks yet, so, pilots and marines, are just Commander ranks for now. If you guys have a proposal for GALCOM pilot and marine ranks, send me email with the final draft and I'll see about signing them into law. Yes, you can keep your quotes/mottos, Tac Addendum: as long as they match that of the fleet/wing. So, if your fleet/wing doesn't have a quote, you don't need that line. 9. Thats good. Nice and simple ain't it? Yes, you can keep you quotes as well as your Beta testing sig ID.

    Endgame

Yeah, I agree. That end battle was ludicrous. I think they ran out of ideas.
  11. ISS is a GALCOM fleet, as such, falls under the ranking and medal structure for GALCOM. No ranks from RPG are allowed on the FD or anywhere else. RPG sessions bear no relevance and are purely based on fiction. The only valid rank and medals are those awared during mp sessions on the 3000AD mp servers.
  12. Why is it that some of you end up confusing the most simplest of things? GALCOM ranks are fixed EARTHCOM ranks are fixed INSURGENT ranks are fixed, as per Rattler's proposal, which I signed off on UNDESIGNATED ranks are not fixed, but for the sake of simplicity, the only rank that should be used, would be COMMANDER. Duty designations can be anything. Wing Leader is not a rank. It is a duty designation. eg Commander Biggs (Wing Leader - Alpha Wing) Wing Commander is not a rank. And frankly, I don't want to see it used anywhere. The FD is correct and accurate. As such, it should be Wing Leader. Despite several attempts in the past to end this confusion, especially as it pertains to sigs, some just choose to do what the hell they like. So, once again, I am forced to step in. This is what I'm going to do. Next week, I'm going to go thru the FD and if I find any bogus ranks in there, not fitting my specs, I will delete the record and that person will not be allowed back in that database or on the 3000AD servers. To those of you who choose to use sigs, even though you don't have to, if I find, anyone using the improper format in their sigs, even if its off by a character, you will also face similar action. If this isn't clear, I suggest that some of you go find an interpreter pretty darn quick. A classic example of an improper sig, is Ristar's. Dunno where he got that medal from, even though I explicitly indicated that no medals or ranks should be awarded to any person, without my prior approval and only based on experience and rank, gained from our multiplayer servers. And that Shogun of the Dragon Council...blah, blah, wtf? That is all Here is the sig format: quote: Rank - Cmdr Name Ship Name (if any), Primary Launch Base location (if any) Duty designation (if any) - Fleet/Div Medal Abbrev (if any) Webpage URL (if any) e.g. Supreme Commander Derek Smart GCV Warmonger, GALCOMHQ (EARTH) Fleet Leader - Prime Fleet OOU 1, SOM 1, EOA 1, CMS 6, PS 4, OTW 2, CS 5, AFG 5 http://www.3000ad.com [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 09-01-2000).]
  13. Sure you can send it to him, but I doubt that he'd be able to patch to the latest version, without first finding the patches which go from 2.01 to 2.07, then he can grab the patches from our sites. I no longer have any 1.0x patches available. The only ones I have, are on the downloads page.
  14. It should be Wing Leader, just as display in the FD. Whose using Wing Commander?
  15. You can't go from 1.0x to 2.06.
  16. hehe, busted
  17. heh, I know. I just haven't gotten around to scanning recent ones yet, complete with Gray hairs.
  18. quote: Why not make a new kind of gameplay mode instead? Free Flight (where you can switch assets), ACM (I heard that was removed from BCM.. not sure hehe), and Tour of Duty (Free flight but you wont be able to switch assets... could be usefull to help people "train" for the online play mode of non-asset switching.. AI in this mode would be very high for the crew and enemies and stuff). No. The game went feature freeze several months back. Disabling stuff is easier than implementing stuff. quote: What you're saying is, I can no longer even dock with my shuttles. You can't dock with what you can't fly. quote: Shuttles can be used to cargosweep and tow, but how do I then deliver the towed ship to the station if I can't switch to the shuttle in order to dock? You give the order to the shuttle, just as you do any other order. quote: What if I need to buy emergency repair supplies because my BC is too damaged to make it on its own? You can send a shuttle dock with a station and when it docks, you can access the trading and repair frontend screens without being in the craft. quote: Or is my mindset still stuck on single-player? Thats single-player. Nothing to do with multiplayer. quote: I guess in MP you will have another human flying that shuttle for you. Not by a long shot. 19. There's nothing wrong with the database. Its a problem on your system or net connection.
  20. A word about ranks. GALCOM ranks cannot and should not be changed. The same applies to the medals. I have custom ranks and medals in the FD, in lieu of future expansion and for use by non-GALCOM fleets such as the Insurgents. As SC of GALCOM, I have to give my approval before any ranks or medals are awarded, within the alliance fleets. Rattler can do what the heck his likes for his Insurgent alliance, because I know he won't abuse it. And before any ranks and medals, not in the current fleet structure files provided to me, are changed, I must be notified and must approve of said changes. Undesignated fleets do not have ranks, nor medals - and I don't want to see any in there. The default commander rank, remains as it - at least until further notice. Assets, launch bases, careers, mission zones etc, are assigned at the discretion of alliance and fleet leaders. Again, I will be doing spot checks from time to time and if I find any ludicrous imbalance in fleets, I'm going reset all values to the defaults, demote every violator, and they'd have to redo them from scratch. That is all
  21. Justin has finished the FD and I've signed off on it. The following are new and final: level 4 (admin) can see clear text passwords. In other cases, it will be replaced by asterisks level 4 can move any commander to any other fleet via the person's profile level 3 can move commanders to other fleets within his alliance via the person's profile you can now specify a quantity for each medal awarded the assets are now linked from the main page the commander listings now have a total count the rank fields are now reflected in the names, even for custom ranks fixed a bug where if you accessed all new recruits (admin only) from the main page and return to the recruits page from the link, any other recruits are not displayed unless you go back to the main page and restart. I have also backed up the database, in lieu of any future ****ups and I will be setting up an event script to do that each night.
  22. The reason I asked Justin to put in that warning, is to prevent exactly what I'm now reading about, from happening. Though I indicated that 128x128 should be the max limit, it was to prevent people from putting in URLs to large pics because it will screw up the profiles page and cause slow loading. My pic had an unusual size, because it was scanned. In order to preserve the aspect ration, I had to scale it to 128x174 because it looks wrong at 128x128. So, maybe 256x256 would be the size limit, but I'm not inclined to change the FD warning. So, if yours is 150x150, go ahead and use it.
  23. quote: (although an away-mission or two is always possible). Steve, there is no asset switching in multiplayer. So, even if you are commanding a ship with support crafts, you cannot switch from them. So if you have a carrier, cruiser or transport, or even commanding a station, you cannot switch from the asset. The only switching that is allowed, though its not switching in the technical sense, is in the case of people who logged on as personnel. They can switch to ground vehicles or crafts, at will - but they don't own those vehicles. So, if you leave your ATV, someone else can take it. By the same token, if you are in command or a carrier, cruiser, transport, you can still land, exit the craft as your commander alter-ego and do what the hell you like, even take control of some vehicles etc. But of course, if someone blows up your ship while you're AWOL, you won't get another one and you will be stuck in your first person persona, running around etc. Your only option would be to quit the game if you get bored doing that. Even though any person can exist in first person, access to vehicles, crafts and weapons, is based on your person type. eg, no matter how brilliant you think you are, if you are a medic, you won't be able to pick up weapons, nor fly or drive certain vehicles. Its all about play balancing. In fact, I may even remove the ability to switch to assets, in single-player. Dunno yet.
  24. Where've you been? That news is like, five months old already.
