I built a new demo today built on the v2.09 engine. It is 55MB and I'm currently uploading it to the server. I'll let you guys know when its done. Pass the word around. In addition to being based on v2.09 (giving it all the enhancements), it also contains surface zones on Earth, Moon and Sygan.

I agree too, however, I think that anyone not affliated to a group or fleet, would automatically be in the reserves of the race/caste he is playing, assuming he is playing as a Military of Insurgent (they are military too) caste. Besides, if I allow people to setup their own servers, then you will have control over that server. If you don't want anyone who is not part of a known entity to play, then, password protect your server or kick them out. If I run all the servers (which is my current game plan), then I will have a dedicated server for free-for-all games, this way, those not interested in our RPG baloney, can still have fun and play. Eitherway, BC3K is a military sim, regardless of the misfits (raiders, etc), that we have in it, so, we can set up rules.

Probably not the final v2.09
-
All these sound fine, but Thomas, as head of the fleet, has final say. So, you all need to work it out with him (Tac your idea sounds good too). Once thats done, Tom, send me the final in an MS Word file and I'll go over it before I approve it. I am also waiting for the revised and proposed rank structure. Forgotten whose working on it with Rattler. I need you to go over it to. So, ask him.

Q's about the "fatigue factor", game pause, hyper marines
Supreme Cmdr replied to chizel's topic in Battlecruiser Series
LOL! Wait'll until BCM comes out, they'll get you back in multiplayer for hogging the machine. -
No. They can only capture stations, not other ships.
-
That caste-change rarely happens, but it does happen. They can go from Terran Military to Terran Insurgent. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 01-13-2000).]

This is normal. Your machine is on the very low end. The game has to reload the world when you launch. btw, you need to unpatch back to v2.08 and apply v2.09 final. There are several hints about this floating around here. Marines have jetpacks. Pretty fast ones too. Pretty hilarious post. I see you're getting to know your crew then? Anyway, since 2.09 is the final patch, I would start from scratch and just go rack up some more EPs. -
Ships can use sub-space to travel. This is called, Auto-Generation, AG. Once they are created, they will then use normal nav procedures. So, your probe won't detect AG ships in the Earth region because they were created in the Moon region. This is why your probe did not see them flying into the Moon region from the Earth region. Yes. Orscan was removed from the game because there are too many regions and objects on some planets. This would flood the probe's comms channel and result in a lot of useless info. Since you can observe a planet without requiring a probe, this feature was cancelled. They probably don't have a place to go. Upgrade to v2.09 which has increased search radius. If you have Fleet Command & Control, just order them to leave the region and they will.

Sounds like a good idea Badger. Lets go with that for now. But a squadron break down would be good too. Also, I think Rattler is working with someone on the ranking. I mention this because Tom, you need to take into account the other GALCOM forces, such as the orbital battalion etc. Work these into your structure because they are under Prime Fleet command. Insurgent Call To Arms
Supreme Cmdr replied to Rattler's topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
I'm going to be adding more stations in BCM and the Insurgents have 3 more. It doesn't take stations to win a war. It takes courage, guts and the attitude that if you screw up, your gonna die. Thats how the Insurgents manage to stay one step ahead. How the heck do you think they managed to actually build a station all the way in Antis? -
VERY specific, repeatable crash
Supreme Cmdr replied to Anchises's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Great! Glad to be of help. With multiplayer coming up, I'm gonna need all the friends I can get because I know some are just waiting to take a shot at me. So am gonna need a lot of capable wingmen. -
I agree with what you guys are saying and thats why I am considering changing it so that you can't trade if you are playing as a Military caste. You will probably then only get repairs, for free and upgrades would be based on EPs and ranks. In fact, I have this in my task list under my new play balancing options. In fact, in multiplayer you won't be able to trade if you are a military. Anyway, lets start a discussion about this in the proper forum. I am interested in hearing your suggestions on this. So, everyone, clear out.

I wasn't going to get involved, but here goes. Usually something like this is indicative of a bad install, bad patch, non-tweaked configuration or even playmod hacks. I would suggest installing from scratch and then patching up to the latest version. Then tweaking your memory settings as per the FAQ. I would also disable MIDI music too, just in case. That chews up a lot of cycles all by itself and uses additional memory. Also, use the Glide driver that is on our site instead of the one that came with your 3Dfx card. Check the FAQ. btw, checking the close-on-exit box is not supposed to fix anything (*sigh* do people actually read my instructions?), it is just a tip to show you how to trap and view the error without the window closing automatically when the session exits with a crash. Thats all its used for. -
hehe, thats right.
-
Guess who didn't read the FAQ? /v79 would probably be faster than /v1 because BC3K supports that card in native mode. It seems are if he auto-detect is failing. But if you read the FAQ and follow the link to the supported video cards, you will see that the card is supported in native mode.

uhm, it takes 10 engineers to clean an Interceptor? Besides, isn't that the job of the Flight Engineers? I don't think you'd catch a System Engineer with a rag and pail in hand.
-
btw, upgrade to v2.09
-
You don't have the updated manual then. Download it.

Can I play the game with a Viper 550 TNT PCI card?
Supreme Cmdr replied to a topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
It supports all graphics cards but you will only get acceleration (and nicer graphics) on a 3DFX card.
