  1. Do we have to register an account there as well to use our forum? Also, I dont mean to sound like an idiot, but I can't seem to find the War Room on our site I have looked and know it has been updated but cannot find it. If it indeed is a fleet only site can someone e-mail me directions on how to get there. thanks
  2. I have the Logitech Wingman Digital Extreme 3d as well, bought it exclusively for the game. I like it it has enough bells and whistles and is pretty sturdy doesnt float around on the desktop. ( it also doesnt shatter when I bang my head on it in frustration) It can float a bit when you remove your hand, if your not careful when you set it up. Cheers
  3. nothing like a good old courtroom brawl over large sums of cash to get the blood pumpin.
  4. I got it on Nov.27, 2001 Cheers

    Welcome

Thanks Dreada for the Welcome, No sorry I have no technical skills of that nature, I'd tell you what I do for a living but you might hold it against me. I'd hate to get kicked out in my first week. Then again its in my profile. In light of the initiation I have shaved all my body hair to ensure that when the glue need be removed it is less painful. I also have a question maybe one of you guys could answer. I am purchasing a new system, what would be the best gameplay setup for BCM? Right now I cant run FP mode or planetary mode (limited to space actions)as i am using my wifes laptop. P4 1.7 ghz, 512, PC800 RAM, G3 Ti 200 or P4 1.7 ghz, 256 PC800 Ram, G3 Ti 500 Cheers
  6. While you guys are on this topic I have a question, Im buying a new system and Im torn , I am not really a tech guy so I was wondering should I go with a P4 1.7 /G3 Ti 200/512 Meg PC800 Ram or P4 1.7/G3 Ti 500/ 256 Meg PC 800 Ram Is PC Ram that much better? specifically for BCM.. which is better Thanks for any helpful advice.

    Welcome

Do I need my own website to attach a logo or is there one link we all use? If so where can it be found?

    Welcome

Thanks for the welcome Tyrn, now about those strategy tips..... I believe it was a Firestorm ... I suppose I should change my sig.. not sure how to get web link or logo up. Any suggestions
  10. I very new here but I figure i might as well throw in my thoughts here. Since I was the one asking for help and Tyrn replied. I dont believe that anyone owes it to anyone to share their secrets. Although I must admit they are very much appreciated in a game that requires as much knowledge of your ship as it does of tactics in general I am convinced that some of us may not even be able to attempt, let alone succeed, with certain tactics based solely on what ship they are commanding. I agree with the fact that fleets should be responsible for training their own and if possible when the time comes maybe script a series of mission for new recruits to ready them for the roles they will be expected to fulfill in MP. Maybe they could also provide an internal tactics guide at that point in time. If the independant's want such information make them work for it in MP, i.e. have Mercs runs a few missions, make traders pay and assassins kill, scientists hand over some research, explorers some star maps. It would make the MP that much more enjoyable and ensure everyone would have to interact more. In the reverse of that if the independants have some goodie or kernal of info that a fleet may want it would work in reverse. Free Enterprise my good men...highest bidder gets the goodies. You do have to be careful not to sour anyone on the game by appearing too elitist. Some people may take it the wrong way and leave or even not recommend the game to friends... that only hurts the SC's pocketbook and in turn the qualtiy of future BC products. On the other hand it only makes some fellows, myself included, a little more determined to aquire this info through trial and error. Its a pretty fine line to walk. Just some thoughts.
  11. You have a large round red dent in your forehead from banging you head against the top hat of your joystick every time you get blown out of space... you intiate intimate relations with your signifcant other with the phrase "Hey honey, Ive got a couple of hours to kill while my mining drones fill up... wink .. wink" you go to get up from your computer chair and find it has molded to your a** ... and need your wife and daughter to come pull it off...
  12. LOL.. I guess I never thought of that angle... I guess I will take what I can from your message and can only hope more, ahem... specific , help will be forthcoming if and when my fleet assignment to wraith has been approved. (sent it in on Sunday) Thanks for the reply Tyrn Cheers
  13. Hey Gentlmen , I was fed my lunch last night by a firestorm and her fighter compliment, I was flying a sunflash. ( to see a rundowm of the battle its in the fun stuff section under experiences). I obviously need some help/advice. Can any one offer advice on how to deal with cloaking carriers with a heavy cruiser? Did I even stand a chance in the Sunflash? What heavy cruiser holds up best vs Carriers? Should you ever use missles on fighter or is it a waste of firepower? What missle would be best vs. Fighters? How often/little should EMD be used to maintain it's effectiveness? Any replies are greatly appreciated. Cheers
  14. I will share this one with you guys you might get a chuckle and remember back to when you first started. I've finally decided to take a shot at a litte roaming a week into the game. I Chose the Lyrius System, Wraith station to launch from in my Sunflash, (I am kicking the tires in the little ships as I assume with my experience thats what I will be assigned in a fleet). Anyway im just cruising over to one of the Moons to practice drone deployment, OCV deployment etc (Man the sunflash is loaded with support vehicles) anyway a few ships pop in to have a go at the Wraith Station, so I jump back and have an enjoyable little scuffle with a Garid, and a Warmonger, I survive quite well and am quite proud of myself when all of a sudden a full load of fighters comes through one of the gates and jumps to the station. Its getting a little frustrating now flies (fighters)everywhere, even with 12 turrets I can't seem to get them all,I'm stubbornly trying not to use Missles on the fighters I use low (20%)power on main cannons hoping to score hits with large barrages of fire, hope to save missles for the big boys. A few get disabled so I send resnig to SC1, hoping to get a chance later to let him have some fun on the Mooon figuring this will be over soon enough, so I send 2 marines as well. the rest are searching. The frustration mounts as I realize these little sobs are damn tough to hit with cannons, I got some lady in the backgound telling me "something is out there" being a noob I respond " No Sh#@ !!, I can see " and conitnue to fire at the flies, next thing I know i'm boarded ( What the hell?), and lights start flashing, Ive been locked etc... you know its that rush of noise and beeps and messages from panicked crew that tells you, you have been had. Next thing I know ive got a Firestorm on my six, a dead resnig, no great loss from what I understand, dead marines and my medics are being gunned down as well, I've got missles from the flies and the Firestorm coming from both ends, I see the end is near, I hit Emd and try to flip around and at least take the Firestorm with me (gotta defend the station right), thinking where the hell is all my support, all I see are a few marines floating around, wonderful (sarcasm)!! I finally get around ive got two missles Fataled at the FS and one loaded up for bear, all the power I can spare has gone into the cannons I get around and guess what he's gone... GONE I TELL !!.. then it dawns on me.. and with a sick sigh I hear that horrid voice i've now come to hate in only a couple of days, "Theres something out there".... I nod my head and rest it on my overworked joystick .. and mutter "I hear you now sister, you got that right".. I eat missles from the flies (weapons sytems out).. and to add insult to injury as I sit there unable to reach the station as the buggers have stolen my shuttle, the one with dead resnig and taken out my shuttle bay guess who shimmers in to view to deliver the death blow... I have to laugh as I watch from the external view from behind the firestorm as I am lit up like a christmas tree.. and destroyed I guess there was something out there. Needless to say I am on my way to post a question about effectively handling a cloaking carrier in a Heavy Cruiser. Cheers Gentleman
  15. noob reporting in, have all of three days experience, lol, have had to make my own binder, with printouts to try and get a handle on this game. I suck right now but I love it. Maybe I should paint a big bullseye on my ship cause I've got a feeling I'm going to feel a little like Custer at little bighorn once I get online with you guys. What's the fastest ship again? Hmmm let me check my binder... ooops .. oh no.. incoming... aaargh. Binder and joystick drop to floor as Cmdr. Oban's ego is shattered in another mind blowing explosion. Is it possible to be a worse commander than this Resnig guy? Bring it on gentlemen. My day will come.
  16. I have a question about my game registration, I registered it from my work today ( address, email etc), but until I get my new system I am forced to use a laptop at home to play the game on. My question is do you require me to re-register the game when I get my new system (specs) and How will I be able to re-register the same game # now that it is already in your system without being accused of pirating your software. Will a simple uninstall off of the old system/ onto the new one and then re-register accomplish this?
  17. Thanks Soback for taking the time to reply, its not the end of the world... just close to it .. lol cheers
  18. Well here it goes, I waited a couple of days to post my first impressions beacause I spent the first day just ahem...(home sick). When I loaded the game for the first time, everyone in my house was in bed, I turned all the lights off in the room ( I prefer it dark, when I play space sims)and just kind of sat back and waited. I figured i wouldd take training run, newbie and all and, can say is that the muted background sounds with the music ( i cant say enough about the music)over top sent a shiver down my spine... man it blew me away. The atmosphere is perfect, its eerie, just like i imagine space would be, quiet, dark and colorful at the same time. I loved it and spent the first three hours just flying around with a silly grin on my face doing nothing. So then I parked her at "0" and started to frig with the ship systems, after another three hours the depth and detail once again blew me away. I immediatley realized I was in over my head shut her down and went to read the manual.... again (LOL never did that before). SC I have returned more games in my time in less than two days than you would care to imagine, (Empire Earth the latest). In two days with this game on my wifes laptop, of all things, you have me pricing new comp. systems, I bought a new joystick ( LOL almost the size of the laptop). I have a good feeling this is the game I was hoping every game would be for the last 5 years. The potential depth of what you are creating here is scary. You have my eternal thanks and gratitude. Well done, very well done. I can't wait for whats next.
  19. Hey all, I think I know the answer to this one but in case it is of some use to the tech dept I will post it anyway. In new and still working things out in training mode. In all the scenarios the game runs fine however, when I attempt to do some FPMarine action, on lnad only not in space which works fine, the planet terrain either looks covered in white with dull grey shadows in the background almost like a blinding snowstorm or on the other training planet (farstar) every thing is blazed bright red with dull grey shadows in the background like some kind of solar flareup. The veiw on my CVD is fine and shows the buildings fine and the vehicle graphics all seem to be fine but in the FP eye view mode I get no terrain. This is all I can get. Now I believe I have found the problem but I could be wrong apparently the video card on the laptop I am using only has 8 meg ram not 16 as I thought. Is this why im not geting any terrain/sky in FP Mode. Running at 1024 x 768 at 16 bit. Its not the end of the world I can still just avoid FP Mode until I get my new system after Xmas. Just though it may be helpful to others. Specs: P III 750 128 Meg Ram S3 Savage MX Video Card 8 meg. Yamaha DS-1 Cound Card (works fine)
  20. Cheers all, I am new as well and would like to consider joining a fleet, however, can some of you vets give me an idea on how much time I will be required to commit to a fleet In the run of a week. I run my own business, have a young daughter and don't want to commit to any one fleet if I cant be an effective contributing member. In the alternative I will of course have to be an independant. Also I am located in the East Coast of Canada and was wondering if this would conflict greatly with fleet meeting times. Thanks in advance for your replies.
