BCM, RtCW, Startopia, UT, Quake3, EQ, AC, DAOC...and countless others we all know at least one of these titles. Dungeons and Dragons, Vampire, Earthdawn, Chill, Shadow Run, Cyberpunk 2020, Deadlands, Warhammer 40K and Starfire. Very few know these titles. The second list is a genre that is sadly, slowly fadeing, giving way to the new age of computer and console games. Can the old pen and paper game, which involved groups of friends getting together with massive amounts of soda, pizza and chips, survive against graphics and ease of use? A good table top game can sometimes take several hours to prepare, and to play, let alone getting your friends schedule to match yours and everyone elses. Where as a computer or console game you hit a switch and bang! You have a game going that you can play when ever the time is convient for you, need some people to play with, once again hit a button and you have access to thousands of players. So my question is to you, can the tradition of table top live along side the new age of digital games? I personally think it can, sometimes just getting together with friends and using my imagination, pretending to be a great warrior traveling the world looking for adventure can be far more relaxing then computer games at times. So what do you think?

Woohoo! Just been informed by my boss that I get to splice one of the LoTR movies together, when we get it. Which means I get to preview it Tuesday night to make sure it runs well. Of course it might take two of so tries to make sure everything is running smoothly.

$175...umm where did you find that. I think I need to go kick myself for a while.

Heh I had to start this one December 19, 2001. Who's going opening day to see it. How well do you think it is going to do? Anything involving the movie. I work at a theatre and the offical running time is close to 3 hours, and that is without the previews. I think that it will be the block buster of the year p.s. I said that wrong. We do not have the movie yet. But we did get the run time information for it. [ 12-02-2001: Message edited by: JaxFox ]

Signs you've been playing BCM too much...
JaxFox replied to Badgerius's topic in General Discussions
You know you are playing to much BCM when: You start to order theatre ushers to remove the obnoxious Insurgent and have him transported to Galcom HQ for interrogation. You hit the deck screaming "REACTOR CRITICAL" when the popcorn popper comes to boil. Heh thats all I can think of at the momment... -
Hmm a little short, seems to slam more then it does at praiseing the good. Also it seems to leave out a lot of details, like abilty to mod, play your own mp3 music and so forth. But overall good scores [ 11-27-2001: Message edited by: JaxFox ]

I need to think about this very carefully...

I agree with the others, something has to be done. We had a incident like this happen in the city where I live. This guy had a idea, he took a old building and totally remodeled it into a skate park, stage for bands, and a dance floor. It has tight security, but simple rules. Nobody never tried anything like this, and it was something for school kids to do on the weekends instead of getting into trouble. Two people who didnt even know what was going on, a pack of lies and false alligations managed to destroy a buisness and the owners reputation in no time. It spreads like a virus and sadly a alot of people dont think for themselves or observe the faq's to see the truth. I say hit them right between the eye's, it seems people do listen to that. -
I began my patrol in the sol system in my new Solnar cruiser. Seeing nothing I hypered over to pluto. Shortly after picked up a Ter/Ins Nightstar carrier on radar heading for me, I quickly designated 8 missles on the nightstar with my FATAL system. The following encounter lasted about 4 minutes. After Destroying the Nightstar I checked my ship and crew over, having no damage or injurys I decided to head on over to Neptune.I hyper up and spot a Raven fighter on radar close by, so I raced after it I FATAL shot 2 missles at the fighter and watch them both veer off. The Raven fighter quickly turned tail and took off. I shot off after the raven. At this point in time I failed to notice two points. 1 where did this lone fighter come from, and 2 why was this fighter not outrunning me. I found out as static rippled across my viewers and my science officer reported that something was out there. At that momment blue flashes started splashing over my shields, damage reports started flooding in over my comm, lock on warnings blared and my EMD was down. on my front view I saw a ship appear from no where (at least now I know what caused the static) I pulled back on my flight stick trying to get away and egage hyper drive, of course from the messages I was getting I had this sinking feeling that there was now a large hole where my hyperdriver unit was. 5 seconds after that my ship my crew and myself became a large cloud of debris and plasma. Heh still getting over the idea I was tricked and trapped by a computer AI. Of course that is not a bad thing [ 11-22-2001: Message edited by: JaxFox ]

Ok my turn, When I registered I used the wrong email address. Its a valid email address, but not the one I use for these forums. So just curious on how I can go about getting that changed. Umm one other thing, will there be in the future be a place in the forums for BCM stories and experience's? [ 11-22-2001: Message edited by: JaxFox ]

I installed the game and gave the instruction manual a quick read. The manual was detailed and straight to the point. I then proceeded to jump in with the tutorial. The game ran like a dream and the music was fantastic! I think this is the best music score I have heard in a long time. Looks like I am going to have some late night's coming up Thanks for the great game SC!

I would take the EB job, I was in the same position you where, but instead of looking for greener pastures I stayed and suffered through it for 4 years. Dumbest thing I have ever done. I was makeing 9 dollars a hour, switched to new less stressfull job, but only get paid 6.35 a hour. I had to give a lot up but sometimes the money is just not worth the frustration.

I did not have a problem installing or uninstalling it (however I did this on a WinXP beta 2 which probably helped) The only problem I am having which is annoying is that the game will not run with FSAA, which makes the characters kinda of funny looking. The turn base action is not that bad, since its only during combat, which is just like real D&D you play normally and wander around till you make a encounter, which the DM then shifts to combat rounds. Oh the corrupting save files really is a pain, but so far its only when you save invisible. When they get around to patching this game I think then it will prove itself.
