Which would I choose, Hmmm..

Some of this people think that I spend time documenting VCF because I don't have better things to do. Sorry, didn't see your post until after I posted mine then I had to leave because the baby woke up.. I'll read the entire thread next time before posting.

I may setup an xfire account today myself, although I'm having a blast with the game lobby at the moment. I'm posting from there now as a matter of fact. LOL! Game lobby is pretty cool, though I wish there was a way to save passwords when launching games

Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I have re-installed and it is still giving this message. Before I start from scratch, just wanted to see if I may be doing something wrong during the installation process. You don't have the latest version of Direct X

IBM Wins $850M Settlement From Microsoft
Darkling replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
The biggest problem with OS/2 was that it required WAY too much RAM (around 128MB) While Win95 only needed about 32MB of RAM. Insignificant amounts today, but back then when RAM was $200.00 for a 16MB Chip, that was a LOT of money. You basically needed to add about $1400.00 worth of RAM to the average computer for it to be able to run without resorting to the swap drive every 5 seconds. -

quote:Originally posted by Shingen: No offense, but I've been playing UCMP since Feb 2004, so I'm ain't freakin' stupid...at least give me a little credit...Let me try to put this in terms that you'll understand. Persistent Game World: A game where action occurs regardless of what the player does. Examples: UC, Battlefield 1942, Star Wars Galaxies Explanation: In games like this there are certain objectives, such as in the Battlefield Series where you need to capture certain control points. If you play Single Player with Bots, the bots try to capture the bases, regardless of what you do. Bots on opposing teams will try to kill each other, again, regardless of what you do. In games such as Star Wars Galaxies, the Players are what makes it persistent, Again, stuff happens that don't REQUIRE YOU to do anything. Non - Persistent World: A gaming world where most events are User Triggered. Examples: Starcraft, Doom Series, Really MOST games. Explanation: In Starcraft, if you're playing a Campaign with certain objectives, the objectives CANNOT be accomplished without your input. The AI in the game WON"T even attempt to make up for your lack of input. In Doom, the characters are literally waiting for you to pass certain "points" in the game for them to react and respond, whereas in a game like UC, if an enemy Marines sees or hears you, he will come after you. There are no triggers. MMOG's are persistent worlds that are on most of the time, and include the ability for the gaming world to be saved when they are shut down for maintainance or upgrades. Just because WWII Online is reset once every 3 or 4 months when a Campaign is over, doesn't mean that it's Not a Persistent world. And in the same way just becuase the UC servers are reset every night, doesn't mean that it's not a persistent world.

quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: Anyone have any thoughts on this? As to why the motherboard is creating this affect and why it won't accept the Nvidia anymore?... not like I care since the first GT has two holes through it (one right where the fans are, another near the connectors) I used to use Nvidia cards, but after going through several of them I realized that they either don't have good quality control or they just don't put together good cards. A couple of years ago I switched to using ATI, I now have an ATI 9000 on one system, a 9200SE on another system and a 9550 on my main gaming machine with absolutly no problems. The best part is that I paid less than $100.00 for each one!

quote:Originally posted by Terran Marine: Darkling, Which chip would you recomend getting? Depends on your motherboard and if you're doing any overclocking. PC3200 is for 400Mhz FSB Motherboard, 2700 is for 333 and 2100 for 300Mhz (I think). So the faster your MB (or overclocking) the faster memory you want.

I pay for all my kids medical expenses, clothes, shoes, school supplies, vacations, summer camps, and pretty much just about everything else. I would get custody of them but I work 12Hr. days and for me it's impossible. In addition to all this, I still have to pay over $1000.00 a month support for 4 kids. Support for what? I even gave her the house that they're living in so she doesn't have to make a mortgage payment!? You think the Government is fair? Please!hmmm and this is the govts fault??? im sure the ole judge just bent you over and gave it to you this way because he/she didnt like the way you looked. oh and every weekend you have to pick them up and drop them off... boy you got it tough... please dont get me started on a rant... Don't get me wrong, I LOVE spending time with my kids and I'm not "ORDERED" to pick them up every weekend. This is just the routine that I got into when me and my ex split up. We had been split up for almost 5 years before the support order was put into place and I had ALREADY been picking up my kids every weekend and paying for all of their expenses. The point I'm trying to make is that the system is skewed towards the woman, the courts just "Assume" that you're going to be a deadbeat dad even if the evidence points in the opposite direction. As for the way I look, I always show up dressed in business attire, clean cut and try to keep things professional... So I seriously doubt that the judge didn't like "the way I looked" One other thing Grey, was your wife ordered to PAY YOU child support?

quote:Originally posted by Enigma: if you have set up VoIP, u hold "B" to talk to the squad and "V" to talk to the Cmdr if your a Squad Leader But first, for the VOIP to work, you have to join a game that has the little headphones on the righthand side, then when you're choosing your Kit, there's a tab that says "Squad" you need to either join a squad or create one. The VOIP is limited to your squad only (up to 6 Max), so it doesn't hamper the performance of the game... Imagine 32 people talking, it would be mass confusion... AND lead to serious lag as the VOIP packets are spread to everyone.

quote:Originally posted by Zane Marlowe: I have to say I've been playing it like a fiend, and the command and control features are FANTASTIC. Finally the game's less like a mob rush and it's more like a coordinated set of strikes. I do agree with one review that it would have been better to see some of the capture points unavailable until you'd taken closer ones. I don't know if that's a technical detail or if they just didn't do it, but I think the idea of a moving front would be very cool. Command & Control is definitely tops.. Especially how we can do Voip with up to 6 Squad members. But one of the things that I love the most is taking my squad members in a Helicoptor over to ANY capture point, circling overhead while my squad members cut them to peices then landing there and taking the flag, so as for your second idea, I think if anything it would take away from the game.

quote:Originally posted by Freyar: It's been out for awhile, but I don't think the company will stay in buisiness for too long. why not use a standard keyboard instead of adding $15 to your purchase price of BF2? Well I just picked one up from CompUSA and used it in the Demo and I can tell you that it DEFINITLY gives you some extreme advantages. Most keyboards can only register 3 to 4 keystrokes at a time, this thing can register 7, so you can use certain key combos in a hurry along with some macro programs that I put together with this that give you some REAL advantages. Expecially when you're flying.

This is insane! They now have a Keboard specifically for BattleField 2. I guess they think this will be BIG!

Actually both me and my ex-wife make a fairly equivalent income, I make a little more. BUT... quote:Originally posted by Race Bannon IV: Dont matter.... I'm getting one. Look, so many people hate Bill Gates and Microsoft they are blind to what the XBox is..the best console on the market! Is there even any dispute? Easier to develop for, better graphics, Xbox live and guess what? I have had the same unit since the first week it launched and I run marathon gaming hours on it and not ever one problem. Know what I got in the bottom of a big box in the basement? THREE! 3 PSone's! Only one of them works. The other two both expired by not reading disks in the drive. My brother bought an X-Box when it first came out.. very 1st week. He's had that thing now while we've gone through a PS1 that no longer works and 2 PS2's. The 1st PS2 was replaced by Warranty and the second one died right after the warranty expired. The entire time that we had all 3 units we were plagued by technical problems from memory cards that would lose info to disc's that wouldn't work to the Network adapter that NEVER worked. For a while I swore I wouldn't buy another console, but I definitely will be getting the 360.

quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: Not overly impressed, graphics are decent, but gameplay remains pretty much the same. After playing it for a couple of days, the following observations... The graphics are tuned to your specific machine. I installed this on 1 machine with a P4-2Ghz, ATI 9200, 1Gig or RAM. Gameplay was SUPER smooth, even with 60 players, graphics looked only slightly updated from BF1942, but I LOVE the new special effects, like the haze you get when you're hit, or when there's a big explosion nearby. ABSOLUTELY love the new Helicopters and Jumpjets. Later, when I went to my brother's place and installed on his 3Ghz SLI System with 2Gigs of RAM, I was ABSOLUTELY blown away by the graphics. It didn't even look like the same game! All in all this is definitely an upgrade to get... of course that's my opinion.

Considering that he COULD have banned the words from the actual content itself, but didn't, I think that this is a good thing for the Chinese people. It's a forum that allows them to express themselves without censorship, except in what they call the actual postings themselves. Keep in mind that if the headings of all these sites would have started with things like "FREE China from it's Oppressive Rulers" and such, the entire site would have just been shut down and that would have been that.
