I was in my shuttle, running goods from Galcom to Wraith, While on Earth, viewed Jupiter Region and saw some Raiders, Ordered 4 of my Fighters from CC Escort (Back near Wraith Station) to attack the Raiders... The 4 went to the region, but as I was heading back to the region myself, I noticed that they were not attacking, so I ordered them to attack again... still no go.. Now I'm back in the Serius System heading toward Wraith, figured I might as well just order fighters to escort CC again and right after I do it, I get a CTD. Also running RC5.
  2. One of the things that I REALLY like about Multiplayer is the way that the game continues in the backround even when you go into the screens, or dock at a station. It's just a lot more realistic that way. I was wondering if there was any way of enabling this on the Single Player mode by messing with the INI files or something, or is this something that is only hard coded into the MP executable?
  3. quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: I fell for the bait trap again last night. ... It all worked out well though, my shuttle got away with the pod and my CC kicked some alien a. I wish I were so lucky, I was running low on cash so I figured I'd leave my CC at Pixan (after I took it over) while I ran back to earth to get retreive my minerals so I could sell at Wraith, with it's high inflation rate. While on my way back, saw a pod so I figured, hey some extra cash right? Wrong!! as soon as I picked it up, here comes some fighters off a cloaked ship and destroyed my shuttle. Unfortunately I didn't save after capturing Pixan so I pretty much had to start over again.
  4. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: We'll see how it goes, right now I've got too many things going on and I don't want to have to babysit RC patches and the forum as well. Just let the community answer most of the posts, and you just get involved when you see a real issue. This way you don't have to get personally involved with every post. I know that I would rather you work on getting the expansion to UC done, then wasting your time here
  5. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: (2) WHY are you posting in a tech support thread about an issue related your pissing around with the game's files?Sorry, thought this thread was about issues that we had after we patched with RC4. I'll just reinstall. Didn't mean to tick anyone off.
  6. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: For the record, nVidia FX cards are crap and not worth the money given the current crop of drivers. There, I've said it. Not just current, I still have an Nvidia Geforce2 card on one of my Compaq's that is supposed to be a 4X AGP. Only problem is that it simply refuses to get out of PCI mode. I've put in an ATI and there are no problems, so I know it's the card. I've also updated the AGP drivers, the motherboard drivers, the PCI drivers, the IDE drivers... EVERYTHING and the garbage refuses to work properly. Also, it's the ONLY computer I have (I have 4) that still gives me CTD's on BCMG and it has a 2Ghz processor, 512 Megs of RAM and that junk 64MB video card. I know I'll never buy an Nvidia card again.
  7. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: The /l parameter shouldn't make any difference as to whether it starts up or not. Yeah that's pretty strange.. the first time that I tried starting the Console server, it kept quitting before it started. I then put in the /l3 parameter for the logging and it started up just fine. After I read your post, I removed the /l3 parameter and it started up with no problems again. The only thing I can think of is that the first time that I started it, I started from the MP shortcut, which I had modified from the start Menu. Later when I added the /l3 Parameter, I did it from another shortcut that I created directly in the folder, don't know if that would make a difference. Either way, me and my son were having fun this morning blowing each other up And BTW, the server that hosting the game, doesn't have a Vertex shader, it won't run the full game, but it will run the Console Server. Edit: Just tried Hosting via ASI without the /l3 option and it won't work... Added the /l3 option and it works with ASI? Let me know if you guys can see it, it's at 172.133.12.69 Thanks!! 8. Actually, I used /l3 in the startup command for logging and it started up just fine, I guess it was something else that was stopping it. I just thought it was the Vertex Shader.
  9. I was wondering, since Console Mode, doesn't do any graphics Rendering, is there a way to disable the Vertex Shader checking? Or does it still need the Vertex Shader even though it's not rendered?

Usually you use the transporters from space, so you don't have to make planetfall. [ 02-21-2004, 08:15 PM: Message edited by: Darkling ]
  11. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: If there is a missing asset file, I need to know about it. First let me preface this by letting you know that I Downloaded it with GoZilla, which sometimes ends up in Corrupt files. When I had played the Demo, I was playing the Station Defense in the Megaron. Everything was working very smoothly, until towards the end of the scenario, when I recalled my Fighters for repairs. After the fighters docked I went to the Logistics Menue to asses repairs, clicked on FC and it CTD. I thought to myself, that's a pretty odd place to get a CTD, so I figured the picture must be missing. Sure enough, when I looked at the Assets.zip, the Vandal.bmp was missing. Since I didn't know what other pictures might be missing, I copied the Assets.zip from BCMG, then overwrote those with the newer pics from the demo (leaving the older, but missing pictures intact) fired up the demo and checked out the craft in the Logistics Menu. Both the Vandal & the MK1 Shows up with the old BCMG picture, but no more CTD's.
  12. I don't have Music Match, I only have Windows Media player, RealOne and Apple's Itunes, does it work with any of those? Otherwise where can I get Music Match?
  13. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: You can do it yourself. The Sol region uses skybox00 set. So, go to GFXSKYBOX.ZIP and extract all the files into a temp folder. Find the one you want and copy its set over to the skybox00 set. Zip up the file (without compression) and put it back in the folder. Jeez you must have read my mind. I was thinking of doing that. I had already done something similar with the Assets.zip on the Demo, noticed that when I tried to select the fighters from Logistics to repair it would CTD. Noticed that the graphic was missing in the assets.zip file, so I copied the one from BCM/G, then overwrote newer images from the Demo, then replaced with the combined file. Result, no more CTD when selecting the Fighters in Logistics Menu. At any rate, I was thinking of doing the same with the Skybox.zip to tone down the Nebula effect, but I wasn't sure which file it was yet. Oh, one last thing, love the new controls personally, I'd rather the number keys be mapped to group selections, but I guess that aint gonna happen.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: On the contrary, if more people placed faith in themselves the world would also be a better place. OK, let's see you are born and think only of yourself. As you grow up, if your parents do a good job, they will teach you that YOU are not the center of the Universe, but that you have a responsibility to others. Why, because this is the essence of what God says. Instead too many parents give their kids everything they want because they want their kids to "feel good about themselves" and have more "Self confidence" so to this end we have things like Enron. Insider trading. Unbridled infidelity and corruption. Why, because at their core, people are evil, and MUST be taught to be good. People tend to only think of themselves and what they want. Most people don't care about the people they are surrounded by, unless it benefits them somehow. The less that people put faith in themselves and the more they put in God, the better off we all are. The other day I saw a show with Salley or Rickey Lake or something and there were these mothers with kids that beat them, swore at them smoked, stole, drank, everything. Why, all these mothers claimed to give their kids everything, but their kids only resented them and treated them worse! What these little horrors needed was dicipline, but instead the parents wanted to "let them find thier own way" It's nuts, they've abdicated their jobs as parents and now have little horrors as a consequence. Let's see here's a ten year old pulling her moms hair and slapping her. Does that little kid have self confidence or what! Does she believe in herself? YOU BET! Does she have faith in her abilities to get what she wants? OH YEAH!
  15. quote:Originally posted by Serondal: the lag is horrible on a 2 gig machine with Raedon 9800 pro. I downloaded the Demo before buying the full game. At the time I was having a problem with my 2Ghz machine's Video Card, so I ran it on my 700Mhz machine with a Radeon 9000 card and I had very slight problems with lag. When I fixed my 2Ghz Machine (Put in a new Radeon 9200 that I got for 80 bucks!)I put the full version on it with absolutely no problems whatsoever! so obviousely you need to tweak your system, update your drivers or something, because the problem is with your machine NOT the game!
  16. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: quote:Originally posted by Darkling: I may get roasted for this, but I think probably the reason is to make the game more stable in a Multiplayer environment. Not even close. It had nothing to do with that because the speeds in mp have no side effects because I use a spline based prediction method. I slowed them down for the reasons I already stated. If it was because of mp, I would have said so, won't I? Consider yourself duly roasted. Hmm.... Smells like chicken
  17. quote:Originally posted by vogelap: I wanted to tell you about the conversation I had with the sales guy at Electronics Boutique... I came in and picked up the game and we chatted a bit while he was ringing me out. He said he'd heard a lot of great stuff about the game, and that he'd sold three other copies (in addition to mine) today. He'd even pulled a copy of UC off the shelves 'with intent to buy'. I think our conversation cemented his purchase decision.Same thing happened to me when I went to Game Stop. The Sales guy had to call 3 stores since everyone was out of stock, so he asked me about the game. Told him about my experiences with BCMG and he got really excited about buying the game. After our conversation, he called the store that had it back and told them to hold another copy for him! Oh sorry, 1st Impression, Game is Fantastic, love the way your marines learn from you on the planets and follow your orders. SUPER COOL! Only nitpick that I have is that I think Gasey Nebula thing is a little too much, especially around the Earth Region. Should be a little more Subdued.

  19. quote:Originally posted by ProXimity: I deployed a drone on a planet via a shuttle. Later, when I sent the shuttle back to retrieve the drone, I gave the shuttle an 'extract drone 1' waypoint after sending it back to the planet surface. The shuttle just hovered over the drone at a high altitude, and would not extract it. Is it because the drone was moving around? No not because the drone was moving around, The same thing happened to me once, and it was because I forgot to unload all the stuff in my shuttle before I sent it to get the mining drone. Had to recall it, empty it then send it back. quote:Originally posted by ProXimity: Also, anyone give me some ideas on nabbing intruders before they steal my shuttles? I put most of my marines on search duty and put one on each shuttle, but the intruders still make off w/ one or more shuttles. 1st, make sure that you Prep all your marines for combat before you send them to the shuttles, if they're fighting with their hands and the enemy has guns, chances are that the enemy will win. 2nd, cut the power to launch control when intruders are on board.
  20. quote:Originally posted by Aphelion7: I landed my MK1 shuttle on a naval carrier and got in it and docked. I tried to move around but the thing looked like it was on LAND so... guess you cant move beached ships? How did you land your shuttle on a Carrier, I tried setting a waypoint, but somehow I can't seem to get it right on target, maybe I need to slow down once I get to the area. Any tips?
  21. I'm a conservative Republican. I grew up in a very poor part of Rhode Island where a lot of my friends had no aspiration other than getting married (at 15, 16 & 17) and going on Welfare. I also remember how a can of soda before Carter was 25 cents and after him was 50 cents. I made it a point to run in the School Mock Election as Reagan, against Carter and pointed this out. I still lost by about 3%. The real Reagan lost RI by a much, much larger margin, but of course, he won the big race. I got sick and tired of everyone whining that they needed the Government to do this and that for them and how the rich were so priveledged. The only people that I knew that were successful were people who started their own business and so that is what I aspired to. Today I own my own company. I have 7 employees, my brother also owns his own company with 20 employees and we are probably the hardest working people we know. Now if I could only tear myself away from this game, I could catch up to my little brother.
  22. quote:Originally posted by TheBunny: One thing I have noticed in UC that was different in BCM is that ships move alot slower .... I was wondering why this was changed for UC. .... I would really like to know why this was changed, I thought it was fine the way it was before. I may get roasted for this, but I think probably the reason is to make the game more stable in a Multiplayer environment. When they added Land Speeders in Star Wars Galaxies a lot of people complained that they were too slow, but the developers said that if they were any faster they would throw the MP world out of sync with some computers which could cause it to crash. Of course I could be way off base on this.
  23. Has anyone taken control of a Naval asset? I've heard conflicting things on this that it can / can't be done yet?
  24. quote:Originally posted by Kartoffel: At best, all this would be good for is publicity, since I'm virtually certain they would not make any profit on the consoles. (The xbox costs ~$400 to make, and that's a celeron 733 with a GeForce 3. I'm guessing this is going to be $500+) Caveat emptor. You are quoting numbers from when these things first entered production, do you really think it still costs $400 bucks to make now, 2 years and a million units later? I don't think so.
  25. Americans are such babies, here we are with the highest standard of living in the world, the most disposable incomes, the worlds best health care system (read, not cheap but great), the lowest level of Unemployment in the industrialized world (except for maybe Japan) the lowest level of inflation in the world, the most stable currency, the easiest country in the world to become a millionaire, the lowest taxation level in the industrialized world and probably the most free. We have the most cars, the biggest homes, the most roads, the most parks, the most of everything. But somehow, our leaders suck, wa, wa! our jobs are being exported, wa, wa! Our taxes are too high, wa, wa! I mean come on! Here's a clue, every day you hear in the news that some state lost xThousands of Manufacturing jobs. The entire world is losing manufacturing jobs to automation. 100 Years ago 50% of the population was employed in farming, today it's less than 5%, get over it. 100 Years ago 10% of the population was employed in candle making, today it's less than 1%. Get over it. Time marches on, you need to learn new skills and stay competitive, it's not a new world order, it's the way of the world. Be happy that you are here, and not stuck in Nigeria starving to death.
