  1. Well, it took long enough to get my ship to have the equipment to do it. I've been mining Actis IV with that ship profile for a couple of days to get the funds to upgrade my ship, buy the iridium and missiles, etc. Patience pays off. Its not so hard if you wait until you can afford all the upgrades Oh... and have you learned the trick of jumping to the supply station instead of to the star-station? When you come out of hyper you're right on top of the starstation. If you jump at the star station directly you stop something like 70km away.

I said I don't have internet access at home Where I am not at right now. Whenever I post you can bet that I'm at work.... where I have internet access. But this does me no good in a MP scenario since I cannot play BC at work, nor even install it on the work computer.
  3. Yes. I've read that. And I've seen where people have had their posts deleted. And I've seen where people have been banned. But I guess because of all the stupid-s*$% out there people like me will never get to enjoy all of BCMs nuances. Which I suppose is okay. There is still plenty for me to do with BC without being able to modify it. I just wish I hadn't learned that there was a program that might have been available that would have made it even more customizable and cool. Don't get me wrong. I'm still going to play BC and I'm still going to love it whether I'm able to put my impression on it or not. So, I guess that's my way of saying... Never mind
  4. First, let me apologize for the ignorant question about BCStudio. Sorry to have bugged you, SC. I did not realize it was not a "modelling tool." In fact, I have no knowledge of 3d modelling what-so-ever and wouldn't know a "modelling tool" if it came up and kicked me in the behind. But I would like to. This forum, however, is not the place to start learning. Does anyone know of a 3d modelling community where I can go and learn how to do 3d modelling? Where did you guys get your start into 3d modelling? Then if I have BC related questions about modelling I'll at least know what the heck I'm asking. Most modifications you make are to give yourself some benefit you / your asset did not have before so I still stick by what I said any modification moves the balance of the game however little you believe it effects will be it still unbalances the game. quote:Originally posted by Sir John Falstaff: My flying style is to keep my enemy in front of me,Ah so you have increased you RR then quote:Originally posted by Sir John Falstaff: I am eagerly awaiting gbs2 just so I'll have more stuff to monkey with. hmm I can see you will be un installing and reinstalling many times over when you "hose your environment". I used "klingon" as a trekkie term for a race that likes cloaked ships. I know there are no klingons in this universe. It was a joke. What race in BC uses lots of stealth ships? I'll call myself that instead to make you happy. Increased reverse thrust? What for? It's fine as it is. The AI never backs up so it doesn't account for that maneuver. As for what I give myself unbalances the game? How so? My questar has cloaking capability. So does every other questar in the game. What I get, everyone else in the game gets. Now if I could give myself a unique ship that no other race/caste could get then that would be unbalanced in my opinion. But hey, we're talking opinions here. Opinions are like armpits, everyone's got a set and they all stink As for hosing my environment..... Yeah, probably. But thats the way I learn. I back up every file I play with and when I hose it, you'll never hear about it because I'll fix it myself. If I have to reload the game you'll never know that either. You won't have install it for me. No time out of your pocket. No hastle for you. If you guys are worried about the flood of questions from people who screw up their environment and can't fix it themselves then do something like this.... "Warning, this program will screw up your game if you don't use it right. It is unsupported. Your feeble questions about this program will be deleted on sight. Continuous questions about this program will result in Banning. Do not use this program unless you are willing to lose your saved games and have to reinstall BC. Do not come crying to us if you lose your saved games or have to reinstall BC. Do not be a stupid git. Do not have a low i.q. Do not drool on the floor. Do not whine. Do not moan. Don't make us come over there. Consider yourself damn lucky that we even put this file online for you and feel privaliged you simpering fool. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED" After you put that above the file.. In fact, as a disclaimer page before getting to the file, where you have to click on "yes, I agree to the terms and conditions" to get to the file... You will have a flood of morons that geeb up their games that you can just delete--or ban if they get persistant-- Puhleze don't decide to not put GBSII out. Please, please, please, please.
  6. I took my violon, non-edited, non-hacked, non-playmodded, and went on a station capturing spree last night. I love cloaking devices. I took down every hostile base in terran, credian, and Gammulan space, including one neutral that I accidently hacked off by grazing it while shooting at a gammulan that was fleeing to it. This morning I played around with ground ops. I transported marines planetside to destroy AA batteries, pulled them out when it got hot from hostile marines, then flew down personally in a fighter and blew away the hostile marines and landing pads... What a blast!! Next step is to land in an ATV and blast the rest of the base into component atoms. And the greatest accomplishment today is ..... I have my system profile correct in my sig! --and you thought I would never figgure it out I'm not dim.. Just lazy
  7. Right.... I've been seing this Fleet forum for a while now and I've finally decided to ask. What exactly is the Function of a fleet? Is it an internet gaming community like quake clans where people meet in-game on clan servers? Or is it strictly Roleplaying based on the honor system? I would be interested in the latter, since I have no internet access at home and therefore cannot join MP games. --walks into recruitment office-- "Hi.. I'm interested in travel, learning a skill, and killing Gammulans. Got any openings?"

    Babylon 5

Loved seasons 1-4. Season 5 seemed like a monitary driven add on since you could watch all of 1-4 and the story arc closed nicely... Only to have season 5 start a story arc that desentegrated at the apogy... And then the spinoff.... Yikes. I was unhappy that it was only going to be on cable. Until I got cable and watched a "crusade"... I was rather disappointed. However... Seasons 1-4 rocked So the rest of it is forgivable...
  9. quote:Originally posted by Eclipse: or you could just copy a carrier setup and give it a cruiser model and remove a couple of fighters. yeah... like have all the specs of a stormcarrier but the body of a sunflash? That's do-able. But not realistic. I like to imagine that some physics apply... like hull space limitations, etc. This isn't Battle-Dr.Who-Cruiser after all.
  10. quote:Originally posted by mihau: And of course don't forget to give them fighter bays. It would be difficult to store them with two shuttles in one, small flight deck. IIRC (I'm not at my home computer) craft{fighter, super fighter, lfighter, lfighter.d3, 4, 4} This should give you four fighters and four fighter bays. Don't forget to add flight engineers to your crew. And don't forget to add power for a fighter charger. Best bet is to look at how a carrier is set up and then deturmine which systems added to your cruiser would make it a carrier. I've got a questar that has 1 fighter and one shuttle. Less cargo space, 5 more marines. I try to have a "this for that" design plan. If I add something then something has to be subtracted... I really like the setup. I've gotten more kills in the fighter than in the CC.
  11. quote:Originally posted by GhengisX: WarMonger with 2 fighters would be un-friggin stoppable!!!! you can do that by altering assets.ini. Just make sure to back that file up before you go monkeying with it.
  12. Pugwash... To what end? I am a gear head. I like to play with things. I have had more fun making modifications to assets.ini and experimenting with ships than I've had playing the game. Is it because the game is not made well? No, it is because I'm the kind of guy that likes to take stuff apart and see if I can get it back together again in a different configuration. I'm a lego-block kid, if you will. I personally have no desire to make a "super-carrier" that can wipe the p-wadd'n out of anything out there. I do like making tweeks, though. For instance, I like a small, fast ship. My favorites are the sunflash and questar. Problem... Cruisers don't have cloaking devices. Well, this Klingon installed one on his. Now everybody in the galaxy has done the same (changes to ship design are universal.) Does it unbalance the game? No, not really. The next time I hear "there's something out there" it could be a little sunflash instead of a carrier. Big whup. I think the shuttle mk3 looks cool, but it's slow and has limited cargo space. So I swapped them out at the local flea-market for some old mk1s. Unbalance the game? No, any independant commander would make modifications to his assets were he to have a preference of one craft over another. If I can ever figgure out how to move tags and objects I'm going to move the rear turret of my questar up front above the bridge. My flying style is to keep my enemy in front of me, so a turret on the rear does little more than scuff shielding. Will all the turrets forward firing I can hose down a fighter quickly and move on to the next. I am eagerly awaiting gbs2 just so I'll have more stuff to monkey with.
  13. I too am eagerly awaiting GBS2. who needs docs? Just frell with it until it stops working and reinstall the game. BUT most of all... Don't Bug the SC........ you can RTFM when he gets it to you and he'll get it too you on a prompt WTFHFLI (Whenever The * He Feels Like It) If you're a computer person you know how to monkey with settings and then undo your own mess. Send that dude out!
  14. quote:Originally posted by Bandus: I'd like to reiterate Eclipse's statement. quote: NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU DOING SOMETHING INTHERE THAT COMPLETELY TRASHES YOUR INSTALLATION OF BCM/BCMG If you try to make any changes to the game, and you screw it up, don't look for tech support. (I think I just stole the SC's line....hrmm) Well, Duuuuhhhh.... quote:Is it possible to "tweak" existing craft in an unsupported aftermarket fashion? Have you ever bought an aftermarket product? Does the company support your item with an aftermarket product installed? Nooooo. Why should I expect SC to? I know it would be unsupported already. Hence the use of the term unsupported in the question. I guess I just don't communicate very well.
  15. Just out of curiosity..... Is it possible to "tweak" existing craft in an unsupported aftermarket fashion? In other words... hacking... Not a request for SC to change anything or do more work to his already superior game. Just wondering if a commander could modify his ship were he to learn sufficient coding skills.
  16. Thank you, Sir. I really enjoy the game, if you had not noticed.....
  17. The Sunflash.... with a cloaking device. Swap SCMK3 for SCMK1 I'd be in heaven. The Sunflash is the ultimate destroyer. Fast, deadly to fighter swarms, and can fly into the turret gaps so fast the victem breaks his own neck just trying to watch you. With a cloaking device it could take out starstations. I dare say I could secure a system most quickly in one of those!
  18. I usually do dishes.. .Or clean the kitchen. Cook. Do chores. Read a book. Sharpen knives. Stuff I need to do but usually don't get around too because I like video games. I also have a radio-shack, voice activated, two way radio. I carry it on me when I travel from the computer room so I can hear the emergency klaxon even if I'm outside. The wife thinks it's funny when I go rushing through the house to my "ship" every so often...
  19. You hit it too hard. When you are capturing a starstation you have to be gentle towards the end. There is a narrow window between SOS and Disabled... If you go too far you miss your opportunity to capture. I usually pound the station down to 1000 armour and then set my IOD to 10% and whittle away slowly by giving a few bursts, waiting two seconds, giving a few more bursts, repeat. If you have your IOD on 100% it is easy to overcook your dinner. You should also turn off your PTA system.
  20. Ooo Ooooooooo Where did you get the Battlestar Galactica music???? I want, I want!
  21. quote:Originally posted by Robert Reynolds: What custom music do you listen to while playing BCM? I have a mix of "The Best of Babylon 5" and "Robotech" soundtracks. Makes for great playing. Especially when "there's something out there" and the Zentradi theme starts playing... Menacing, threatening, mysterious. I'm trying to find other Sci-Fi movie/tv soundtracks to add. Starwars just doesn't work, though... Nor does star trek.
  22. I think the purchasing of another ship will be available in BCGenerations, the next installment. You can't in this one. Why buy when you can start a different game and choose any ship you like? No, you can't upgrade support vehicles. Choose your CC wisely. Yes. You can deploy your ATVs by setting waypoints planetside with the command "deploy vehicle". Make sure you've put a crew in the vehicle or it will just sit there. The only building you can enter planetside is a starbase. Dock with it as you would with a starstation. I don't think CCs can dock with starbases though. Only support craft. Do a search for Artifacts and you will get the required information. You should always search first before posting your questions... Many of your problems with crashes can be solved by installing the latest drivers for your system, patch for the game and reading the appendicies and online documentation. And another word of advice. I hear the Supreme Commander is not pleased with "wish lists". I might also point out.... This is not Elite Frontier. Do not expect it to be like it.
  23. quote:Originally posted by Spindoktor: quote: Why are we commanders and not Captains? I mean, we captain a ship, not a space station. We don't command a ship? Maybe I'm not getting your point? Oh and noobism. You are what you are. If you act like, smell like, look like... a noob. Then you are a noob. I'm happy in nooby land. The minute I feel all cocky and do something vet-like, I'm going to do something stupid to stay in nooby land. Maybe I'm weird. No I'm definitely weird. I'm just being goofy. I like old nautical terms. I don't have "shuttles", I call them landing craft. I don't have "fighters" they are attack boats. I am the "captain" of my vessle, which is a ship by definition that it carries other vessles aboard it. Anything that does not have support vessles of its own is a boat. I'm just wierd like that.
  24. So, when does noobism end? What is the rite of passage to true existance? to an ancient earth folk tune How many starbases must a man take down Before you will call him a man? How many....... Ooooh. Better stop now... I'm feeling silly. I'd better check in at the medibay. Oh, by the way.... Why are we commanders and not Captains? I mean, we captain a ship, not a space station.
  25. Maybe I've just been lucky.. I've flown right up to ODS systems and blown them away. They only thing that made it difficult was that they were hard to hit. I don't ever recall taking any damage from one.... I do remember being raked by a station whilest trying to down one. Or was that the ODS and it just looked like the beam weapons were comming from the station?
