  1. I think that we've all probably done stupid crap similar to the starwars light saber thing... But we've been fortunate enough not to have it video taped and spread around for everyone to see. If it had been me in that film I would retreat under a rock and never come out again. I can definately feel this kids pain..... But the video was fun to watch. I mean, I did stuff like that when I was a kid.
  2. Satan in Time Bandits demon asks. "Why don't you just escape?" BLAM!!!!--gets blown away Satan: "Good question....."
  3. What's sarcasm? I don't think I've heard of that before......
  4. quote:Originally posted by Hades: quote:Originally posted by Sir John Falstaff: Isn't that kind of like re-writing Judas Iscariot as a misunderstood scape-goat?He... he wasn't? **Sigh** No, my dear boy.... He knew just what the hell he was doing before, when and after he did it. Just like dear old Bauldar.
  5. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: hehe, gonna go stand in line this weekend http://spiderman.sonypictures.com/ Did I miss something? Or are you going to stand in line for 12 months? July 2, 2004.
  6. And I thought I was crazy..... To format your drive to reinstall BC3k Sir, I salute you. But I'd go for the registry editing first... Just back up your registry before you do anything to it. Good luck. And don't be frightened of the registry. It's more frightened of you than you are of it.
  7. Boomer and Starbuck are female in the remake? Somebody must die. That's just WRONG. Col Tigh hating Starbuck? No computers on the Galactica? Bauldar not a confirmed sneak and traitorous butt-head? Isn't that kind of like re-writing Judas Iscariot as a misunderstood scape-goat? Does anybody still remember that the Cylons were not robots? They were a lizard race that did genetic alterations. The Cylon warrior was a "brain in a box" and the supreme Cylon Leader had 3 brain implants. I guess I'm too much a fan of the old Galactica to go for the new rewrite. Why don't they just call it something different, with different character names? That would be more honest. loosely based on......
  8. You might check your crew. It could be a coincidence that your Coms officer or Tactical officer went off duty at about that time (I think those two have to be on station for you to have CnC--could be another combo. I'd have to retreive my manual for specifics.) You should also check to see if your coms system, tac computer, etc are in working order. Sometimes they will be damaged enough to remove your CnC ability.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Bandus: SC, maybe you should hire some folks who can sit at a computer and read canned answers on a 900 number we have to pay to call and get help on?To add a little levity.... The 900 number could just be a soothing female voice repeating over and over.. "R. T. F. M." "Install Latest Drivers" "R. T. F. A." "Follow Instructions" That would solve a lot.
  10. quote:Originally posted by Bandus: On the contrary SC, I don't really want to force Resnig to hit the books. However, if we could force the BOOKS to hit RESNIG that would be a horse of a different color. Or even the bookshelf to hit Resnig, or some other heavy blunt object. You're wishing more brain damage to Resnig?
  11. quote:Originally posted by Kasey Chang: What did he do? Exercise himself to death? Suicide by jogging? Self-termination by aerobics? You be the judge... Well, you tell some people "The only way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise" and they'd rather die.
  12. "Dropped almost like they were shut down" Yup. You got a full hosing of beam weapon from the station.
  13. What do you suppose would happen to you if you left your post without authorization just because you were hungry? You'd get a sharp reprimand, that's what. As the commander of the ship it is your responsibility to say "go eat" when people get hungry. This is modeled after the military, dude. Subordinates don't even pass gas unless they're told to. So, as the commander, you have to let your people off duty to go eat, even if they are not fatigued. Think of it as break-time or lunch break.
  14. I am finding GMax to be quite fun. It has tutorials that help a lot. It has many more options than Milkshape and is much more powerful. I've got a design that looks much much better than my first childish design. I'm still tweeking on it and I have yet to learn how to skin it--it's just a blue shape right now, but it looks so much cooler than my first design in Milkshape.
  15. hrmmmmm...... Is there any way to check this without Norton Diagnostics? I get an odd memory "cannot write to blah blah blah block address" messages sometimes... But BIOS goes through memory check fine........ This could be a cause to some of my rare issues with the game. --doesn't happen enough or consistant enough to try to troubleshoot. I just restart if it CTDs, which is rare these days.
  16. So there I am... Sitting in system babysitting a diplomat to Galcom when an enemy craft appears on scope. I target the foe and order my shuttle to tow the diplomat --to keep his happy butt in place. They never stay with their escorts! Enemy craft targets the Lady Anne and hypershunts. Minute and 30 away... Suddenly.... Intruders! Pop up perscan. 5 intruders. Where? Where? Bridge..... and my AE has 30% health. What to do? I went for a space walk. Come to find out they've got medkits in these spacesuits. Heal until out of medkits... Wait... Wait... Get back aboard. Intruders still on deck. Resnig shouting about combat on the deck, blah blah... Hostile vessle 45 seconds away... I went back outside. Hey, would you look at that. I must have picked up somebody elses suit. Either that or the janitorial staff is dang efficient There's more medkits in this one! So I count down a few more seconds, knowing the hostile is seconds away, and jump back aboard.... Just in time to take it off of A/P and blast the ship to pulp as it came out of hyper and then go for another walk because Resnig still doesn't have the bridge clear. Yah know, the large gloves on a space suit make it darn hard to twiddle your thumbs. I also noticed a few dings and scrapes on the paint I hadn't noticed before and I think the aft turret is slightly bent... But I digress. Five minutes later the intruders are off the bridge and lurking around the shuttle bays playing cat and mouse... But to top it all off.... The marines ordered to combat by the estimed Resnig were all still in their underwear, ordered to search straight out of their off duty time. No wonder it took so long to route the intruders. I've got marines running around in their bloody underoos hunting fully armed EF marines. One of these days Resnig is going to get shot out a missile tube.
  17. quote:Originally posted by dreadx: Yes, all the artifacts are on board. I suspect it started around the time that the special cargo items came into play but I'm not sure cause that was a long time ago. Ditch the Orb. I've theorized that the orb heals and refreshes the crew... But also robs them of much needed R.E.M. sleep and the ability to stop and eat (look at your HFs and see if they aren't way high). This leads to mania and then hyperactivity then phychosis.... Alien artifacts are dangerous things. Especially when they screw with human physiology. Your crew may be bored and manic, tearing things apart just to have something to fix--Since they can't go off duty because they're rested, but have done nothing but stare at their workstations for the past 8 hours. --This is purely a Roleplaying explanation invented for the issue in my game. I ditched the orb and found that my systems got fixed permanently. Of course, it just could be coincidence.--
  18. I've ACTIVATED a few mine defense grids before. When I've mined jump points. But I've never encountered what you're talking about.
  19. Well... I still have a nifty modelling thingy to play with. Thanks for everyone's input.
  20. ***said as quiet prayer in the corner** "Lord, please grant me patience...... But could you hurry up and send it? I need it right now....." Thanks, I appreciate it. And even if we don't get the go ahead, I'm having a blast making models. It would just be so much more cool to actually see one go into action.
  21. Question... Do you have the celestial orb?
  22. Yes. The dreaded "Whack-a-Dip" syndrome. You come in system to hear... "Retreiving dat....."***boooooooooooom in the distance***"a..." The "booooooom" being the final sound a diplomat ever made as a merc blew it to component molecules. And there goes 5000 ep because you were in system at the time it happened and did nothing to prevent it. Galcom brass are jerks that way. I releave some frustration by blowing Baran to bits and making all mercs suck vacuum whenever possible. Then I regain my ep by mercilisly pounding the nearest hostile ground targets... It never slows the tide of mercs, but it makes me feel better to send them to hades.
  23. With all due respect, Sir....There is no such thing as a suicide mission. There are only missions with a low probability of success. "Never tell me the odds" Han Solo. No, I'm not a starwars freak... But that one line struck a chord. On another note... Delta Wing, eh? I guess I'll mosey over to their board and lurk for a while. I should hope to be around long enough to graduate. I mean, sheesh... Not having internet at home hasn't stopped me from joining up. Where there's a will, there's a way. And this is a fun diversion from everyday work-a-day life.
  24. Alas, one final bump in the road. The documentation with BCS states If you are a modeler, using BCS to view exported MAX 2 or 3 models, please read the modeling_guide.htm file in the DOCS folder. The .MAX to .3D plugins are located in the PLUGINS folder. The modeling_guide.htm file is not in the DOCS folder. And the .MAX to .3D plugins are not located in the PLUGINS folder. In fact, there is no PLUGINS folder at all. So even if Gmax does the same as Max2 or 3, it will do me no good without those files. I am supposing that those little tidbits were removed from the .zip file because of all the questions they generated --not unlike this one, yes? I guess you guys can't win. You put it out there, people ask questions. You don't put it out there, buggers like me come and ask questions as to why it's not there. Questions, questions..... But I digress -- If it hadn't been in the docs then I'd never know what I was missing....... See what you get for telling me to search the message board and read the docs? Is there a way to get the plugin? I hope so, but it won't end my world if not. But until then, I am enjoying playing with my model. It is much more fun than legos were, since I can make my own custom blocks to move around . Maybe some day I can make it "come to life" in the BCM universe.
  25. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr_ Laracuente: You don't have to buy max if you ae not going to render animations, there is a very BIG program which i'm surprised no one has mentioned it. It's GMAX, 3ds max little brother, it lets you do all that max does but rendering and for free!, and since it's almost the same program (someone correct me if i'm wrong cause i have not tried it yet since i use 3d studio max 5 myself) it could support the plug-in to extort to the BC format .3d if i recall correctly. I'm not completely sure but you will lose nothing trying Go to this link and you will see more information about it Cheers Thank you very much. I will try it immediatly. In fact, it downloads as I type this. Sweet.
