May want to try editing an existing game that comes with a nice toolset or has third party toolsets available. One of the current best is the toolset that is downloadable for the game Dragon Age:Origins. It comes with lip synchronizing, level designing, script designing, model manipulation engines that all come together with good art work to form a nice looking game. To take a step back, all the editors available for the Quake 2 engine, and the Unreal engine are also great places to learn how to design a 3D space to play in. Side scrolling editors for various engines can also be found for mobile games or arcade/super retro pc games. No matter the skills, there has to be a story. Have your 11 year old stretch their imagination to come up with their favorite environment that they would like to explore/flesh out, and choose the tools that can expand from there. Fighter pilots just love finding enemy targets and attacking them. Have to send them the HALT command and then have them escort/defend me. Or keep the cloning bay running 24/7.

Back from two week holiday. Odd not having internet that long, and yet, so restful...

D/l'd the demo via Steam and it was very pretty to look at. The city-state concept is interesting. Having them as allies helps you aquire culture points for policy purchases. Doesn't seem to add much to game play though. Was not fun to have to deal with all the background stuff either. Only 100 turns per game in the demo, to 375 BC. Voice acting seemed well done with each leader speaking in their own language. The Klingon mod will be interesting... Never did play Civ IV. Civ III is still fine for me.

The 3DS looks really cool from a distance, and the demo videos from E3 are amazing. 3D without any special head gear? may still have to see it in person to believe it. Nearly 300 USD for one? Wow, Saving now for that March Twenty-Eleven release date... ...Anyone held one in their hands?

A month already? off we go then...

All those magic types! Hard to pick the right line of four of each type, when not specializing. I may try one of each, male noble, male commoner, female noble, female commoner of each race and class to get all the possible dialog lines too. As well as the love intrests, meeting of former commrades later, etc. Dialog for the Dwarf noble as the exile, and Dwarf commoner as the sibling to the prince's consort, are two very different sets of lines, all in the same town of Orzammar. Then again, I like voice acting, and currently owe some lines to a B5/Freespace project I'm part of. Back to the darkspawn... what kind of party to start out next with? Four mages, four archers, four sword and board, or four dual wielders? Maybe just as diverse as before...

After four months with six characters about 50 hours each, I finally finish the game with one of my characters, but the character sheet says I am only 60 percent through the game. Since there are six different origins, and multiple endings for each origin storyline, I guess I can see why. The other five characters are going to seek out a few more quests to do...

Mm..... still March here! Oh well, reporting in... even though I already reported in technically for the month! April Fools...
