  2. What a way to sum up a career: I'm a tax write off.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: This has better not suck. Seriously. quote:Originally posted by Blerm: But at a budgeted $207m, it's going to have to not suck a lot. Heh, you guys aren't kidding. With that much at stake.
  4. quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: I wouldn't be so sure of that. The U.S.public is very fickle and given the disasterous 8 years of Republican rule I have a feeling they'll vote for change. Whether or not the economic prosperity experienced under Clinton's administration was a result of his actions (yeah I know it was the Rep Congress that did it only they don't seem to be doing so well now so that's debatable...) people will just remember things were much better with a Dem in office and will probably try their luck going that route again. The Republicans had the chance of a lifetime by dominating the US political spectrum and have completely blown it. The question is, are they really doing such a bad job or is the liberal media laying in hot and heavy more so with the repulicans then they've ever done with the democrats. I don't trust this media of ours not one bit. We here in NYC have a republican mayor and things couldn't be better economically and school wise. Although, he grinds my gears sometimes, he's turned this city around what the democrats turned it into with years of abuse and corruption.
  5. Yup, I was going to post the article about this same issue but I got too irritated. With a representetive people like, they make Bush look like he's got a 150+ IQ.
  6. quote:Originally posted by Soback: We should wipe not only the government of Israel, but also those of America and Britain off the map. But we don't mean their people." That statement made no sense at all.
  7. LOL, yeah I remember that one but it's still good. I'm surprised they didn't give that guy a heart attack. The reactions from that guy are priceless.
  8. quote:Originally posted by Prez: Be that as it may, I think it's a little early to herald the New Dark Ages. I wasn't suggesting this would happen anyday soon or that it would happen. It's a possibility. One that scares the hell out of me. There's plenty of historical accounts of scientists ages past that ran afoul of ID/Creationist/Religious acolytes. It amazes me that in this day and age some still are. Then again there are still cultures out there that believe that you capture their soul when you take their picture. But we know better, right?
  9. Is U.S. becoming hostile to science? This is what I've been affraid of. Will the U.S. be the impetus in starting a new dark ages?
  10. quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: All I can say is... screw the plot ... just gimme a spaceship! Seriously, romance, sexual tension and a love triangle WTF?! Same here. Just give me a flyable ship and I'll create my own drama.
  11. I think it's high time that the oil workers demand a hefty pay raise for all the work they do. You don't hear too much about that.
  12. Hot dang. December 9th. Just saw the commercial on TV and it looks very good. Official Site.
  13. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: This will be our 4th and lastIf I had a dollar for every time I heard that from people, I'd be rich. Congrats!!
  14. Glad to hear a 9/10. I was expecting, when I got home, a 3/10. But then again, it ain't no UWE BALL production.
  15. Uh oh, Jaguar's got a new toy! Can it cook dinner too? Looks cool. Damn a lot of specs for such a small thing. Star Trek communicators are just around the corner.
  16. Finally and very cool. Images NASA Press Release
  17. quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: I went into a local EB Games on Monday to see if they had F.E.A.R. The PC game section was but one narrow 3ft wide rack buried in the corner. I wouldn't be surprised if the new Gamestop/EB stops selling PC titles altogether. I know now that I will never go back there looking for PC games, it's a wasted trip. They didn't have F.E.A.R. by the way but my local Best Buy had it and Quake4 in abundant quantities on Tuesday. Yeah, it's getting really depressing. I went into my usual gamestop store to pick up serious sam II on sunday and in only a matter of a week or so the PC section which has now been permenantly relegated to the back of the store is now only 3 racks which was 4 the last time I was there. Same thing with Serious Sam II they didn't have it either but I did find it at a Best Buy right across the street from them.
  18. quote:Originally posted by Eclipse: I'm finding the egosoft forums slightly strange... people canceling preorders because the cockpit models were cut... very odd. Didn't look into the preorder business, but you are correct that there seems to be a x-ing out of the cockpits. As per the forum site admin: quote:To be honest, I'm surprised to see the cockpit debate still going on, as it was confirmed in several interviews at the summer Games Convention in Leipzig that there would not be any cockpits in X3.
  19. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: I think that it's about time someone killed off those little Blue Freaks. But that's just me..... Word has it that it was the Carebears.
  20. quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: LIS, It was made for Belgian TV because the artist that created the Smurfs was from Belgium. A little home town flavor eh? Yup.
  21. Akkk, time ran out for edit. I forgot to add this. quote:Originally posted by Grizzle: I never liked UNICEF because of their politics of persuasion and strong arm, guilt laden tactics. This just seems like par for the course for them. Everyone should be skeptical of any charitable organization that spends so much money on advertising in an effort to raise more money. QFT. I agree with you there.
  22. Nah, no guilty conscience just that it's rather suspicious they don't want to air it over here in the states. That speaks volumes. Of course their spin is that it was specifically made for a belgium audience. quote: The advertisement is part of UNICEF BelgiumÔÇÖs campaign to raise about $150,000 for the rehabilitation of former child soldiers in Burundi. Today, 300,000 children are being used as child soldiers in more than 30 conflicts around the world. The ad is meant to draw greater attention to the issues affecting real children. Since we all know the majority of conflicts are in, as of this time, Africa and this does not involve carpet bombing but raids on settlements using machetes and rifles. If this video was made in that fashion, then there would no question about the meaning of that clip. The fact that the only county that is either capable or partakes in carpet bombing is the U.S. So you tell me. BTW: Fox news? I read the story from everywhere but fox and msnbc. The news link I provided is CBS. In fact, I can't even tell you the last time I read anything from fox news.
  23. News Link Smurf Commercial Of course, they aren't airing this over here in the U.S., who is the biggest contributor to this organization, but just in europe. But to me the target is clear. Slamming the U.S.
  24. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: And yeah, shipping games on multiple CD-ROMs is just insane. I have NO idea why they do that. I guess they assume that there are more CD-ROMs out there than there are DVDs. Which - of course - is rubbish. Heh, funny you should say that. I just picked up Myst V from compusa. Found out they were having a 25% off sale. Now their web site was rather confusing. Req was listing DVD but at the bottom of the page it was listed as PC-CDrom. Well, I was going to be near there anyway so I went to check out what the deal was. Lo and behold, it was the 3 cd package. No wonder it was on sale. They wanted to get rid of them since no one was probably buying the Cd versions. Hey, 25% off I'll deal with three CD's for the instalation. As for a DVD drive. I've had one on my system since '98. Not the same one now since the original pooped out not that long ago.
