  1. GameSpot News "In ATI's initial release, the Radeon X800 will be available in two variations. The Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition will feature a full 16-pixel pipeline clocked at 520MHz and will be coupled with 256MB of 560MHz (1.12GHz effective) GDDR3 memory. The Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition will have an MSRP of $499 and will ship later this month." Price is steep but you just gotta love the stats.
  2. You can tell the men from boys from the Game ratings link. Rather, the ones that gave UC more than half a shot and took a little bit more time with the game than other reviewers. However, the review link (I use the term "review" lightly) is nothing more than a simple commentary rather than a constructive and detailed review. It's almost as if he ran the game and did a little bit of this and a little bit of that all in a matter of ten minutes. The fact that he gripes about the control scheme is evidence of this because if he played the game more than an hour he'd have no problem with the keyboard scheme. Actually, if I didn't know any better, it looks like he just read other people's reviews and synthesized that commentary based on those. Anyway, may I suggest to him that he use Game Commander if he has problems with the control scheme. I sit playing UC snickering at those that don't realize what a gem of a game this is and what they are missing. [ 05-04-2004, 09:27 PM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ]

There is a program that comes with them called Profile editor. I have the P880 gamepad and the X45 flight stick and I can program those to whatever key sequence to my hearts content. I've done that with a few games one recent one is Prince of Persia which didn't include gamepad/Joystick support for the PC version. Well I solved that with the Profile editor. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: For $19.99 you think I'm your personal developer? Gimme a break.Dang it!

  5. Dying for your country is such a simple and parochial statement. To put this more into perspective, dont forget youd also be fighting for liberals, crack heads, drug dealers, bums, criminals, the rich who will buy their way out of the draft, big corporations etc Under the dying for your country motto, you will be doing this to preserve their way of life also. If I go to war to fight and kill or be killed, it will be to protect my family nothing more nothing less.
  6. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: So far the only way to do that is to turn it off Not true, you could build a Farraday cage around the offending Plasma T.V.. Better yet, encase the room you plan to put the Plasma (or other offending devices) with a Farraday cage.

  8. Okay, I'm torn here. Not sure if this should go into Technology or Politics since it's both. Anyway, Gore claims he invented it and now Bush wants to speed it up for everyone Bush said "every corner" of the United States should be in reach of high-speed Internet links by 2007
  9. quote:Originally posted by rtoolooze: Ya, I've been looking foward to this one. The graphics are nice. Its too bad we can't have an entire Pacific Theater type sim with these kinda 3d graphics. Couple that with the depth of Matrix Games "War in the Pacific", which is to be released this summer, (hoping) and we'd have a winner I think. It would be nice if they carry over the Destroyer command for this one too and maybe add in an Air command too this way players can have a three some Multiplayer by Air, Ocean surface and Under surface.
  10. Sweet. I played the first Silent Hunter and loved it. I have the second Silent Hunter II U-boat combat sim and loved that one too that I even went out and bought Destroyer command to play multiplayer between the two which I think is a great idea where you and friends can either play sub or surface and go at it. Great to see that a third is in the works with upgraded graphics to compliment this sim series. I just checked out the trailer whoa! And this Crew added [ 04-28-2004, 01:14 PM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ]

It's crazy. I've noticed that trend in the last couple of years from Doctors all the way to Children Family Services throwing that ADD around like candy and all of sudden the poor kids are popping them damn ADD medications like candy. Makes ya wonder who's interests they are looking out for the kids or the pharmaceutical companies.

Its amazing, finally BBC AMERICA has some decent shows on. Check the BBC America Website for details. And in case the rest of you dudes don't have any idea what I am talking about, you are missing out on some supper good 'telly'. Check you local PBS, if that thats a no go ,get satelite,DIRECT or DISH. No ,I am not getting a commission. Edit: I'm serious, some PBS stations have a lot of British shows on. Not necessarily the ones I am talking about, but some. Yeah Murphy's law. I like the commercial for that. "An english man, an Irishman enter a bar.. What is this some kinda joke." . Oh yeah, the only thing that was driving me crazy about that channel was/is them damn house redux shows over and over and over again all bloody day and night. Like Changing rooms, House invaders, Ground force etc... As for the PBS stations that's where I got my first taste of english programs long before there was a BBC-America.

You guys in the UK probably have more Robson than you like, but I can't get enough here in the US. Second most popular for me: Derval Kirwan and Stephen Tompkinson.(From Ballykissangel). And other programs. I watch those all the time on BBC-America. I really like Touching evil. Forget American TV the British make 100% better TV shows all around from comedies to mysteries.
  16. Sweet, it's like the battle of Hoth all over again. All we need now is some BC-Walkers or should that be UC-Walkers.

  18. BioWare downplays Microsoft buyout rumors. who knows. I've seen more and more rumors coming true lately down the road. "For its part, Microsoft refused to comment on the matter. However, the company is no stranger to developer buyouts. Aided by its massive cash reserves--over $50 billion at last count"

Curious that isn't it. The media has made and is making such a field day over that issue with Bush and his people. Why aren't they sqawking about this issue with Clinton and Gore. Well we all know why, I just felt like pointing that out.

  21. Yeah, been following this game for a while now myself. I only wish they'd bring back Space Quest too.
  22. Don't mean to throw this thread off subject again but can you guys go the CPA web site CPA and look at the picture with the article "Bush, Blair Welcome U.N. Special Envoy Proposals on Iraq". Am I going mad or does that picture look like Blair is doing the devil horns on Bush?

Can't wait to give it a spin. I love the box art especially the inside one with the lone marine just sitting there looking rather depressed or tired you take your pick. Which part of the first impressions pre-requisite in the thread subject, was unclear? And no, first impressions of the box don't apply. You're right. Sorry. I was going for a step by step impression from box to the contents and then the installation and game play. I meant to follow it up with my first impression of the game. Well here it is. I installed and ran the game with no problem. Then installed the RC7 patch again no problem. I played Instant scenario: IA0115 MI Marine Tactical Intercept planet. I started off in the middle of a base and we were under attack. Thunder, lightning and rain I jumped into the fray. Took out three enemy Marines until I was picked off myself. From the trees to the wildlife it's very immersive and fun. I'm going to enjoy this game.

I might be blowin smoke up my behind, but I believe that even the SC has mentioned watching CNN in a previous post( Can't code for 24 straight, can you?). OK! No it doesn't make you left wing, I watch CNN and other news as well but I take what I see reported with a grain of salt because I know damn well I'm not getting the full picture of what is being reported. It takes about 50 sources of news to get a complete picture and that is the sad part. That is all I meant.
