S.C.: "Ah HA!" *kicks me in the arse out the airlock and shuts the hatch* Goes to show that none of us are perfect and that we all make mistakes. You should have added more punch to your post with this John Kerry with Jane Fonda, September 1970. Why does John Kerry always look like he's smelling butt sauce?
  2. quote:Originally posted by rtoolooze: I also am not threatened by it. Far from it. In fact, science is showing me just how wonderful and complex life really is. To me, science is only scratching the surface, and the more it digs, the more it will show us that all we know and see around us had to come from an intelligent creator, with a purpose. But what if science proves the opposite. That all we attribute to a God is in fact just a natural process from a chaotic: The disordered state of unformed matter and infinite space supposed in some cosmogonic views to have existed before the ordered universe to an orderly one.
  3. Small sample of evidence of Evolution and Adaptation in action. Read this and comment. Good example is the segment about "Industrial Melanism" in respects to the "peppered moth, Biston betularia". [ 03-03-2004, 11:04 PM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ]
  4. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Chavik: To LostInSpace A great Non Sequitor panel. I love Non Sequitor. Just for you. Grab it quick. Yahoo tends to change addresses as the panels get older and they eventually fall off the page. Wow, someone else came up with that about lawyers too! Mine was just the spurt of the moment "trying to be humorous" and "who would benefit more from this" thinking for a response to this thread. Maybe there is something to my comment after all. Thanks for the link.
  5. Actually, I think this whole gay marriage thing is a plot by lawyers to increase their divorce revenue! Also, all I can say is this is going to be nightmare. Say you have married gay couples and they have kids either by adoption or invitro and they get divorced does the other half of the couple have to pay child support because technicaly if it's a male-male relationship they are both fathers and women-women they are both mothers. There's going to have to be a legal declaration as to who is going to be considered the mother or father of the children. Ugh, I got a headache. More money for the legal profession I guess. 6. Iraqi officials agree on draft of constitution. Very positive news indeed (except for the violent parts).
  7. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: What? Did dinosaurs not exist? were they put there by the devil to fool us and lead us away from god? Ah, you beat me to the punch. I was going to use that in my next post. When I was in high school, I had a part time job in a retail store and the manager was a Jehova Witness. Do you know he said that to me about the dinosaurs and I have never forgoten it. I just shook my head in disbelief. quote:Originally posted by Darkling: I am so sick and tired of everyone saying "There's overwhelming evidence" and yet fed that they don't need to provide this evidence. Everyone loves to say there is plenty of evidence, but then point to more theories to explain. Is everyone who wants to have a general discussion on Evolution suppose to bring with them the entire global collection of fossils and such? Oy vey! What is your opposition to Evolution anyway. It's like what always happens to scientific discoveries they eventually become embraced by religion. Take for example the Flat earth v. round or the earth centered universe v. Sun centered to the eventual discovery that not even the sun is the center of the universe. People have had their blood shed over these concepts. Good thing that today the religious can't tourch anyone over their ideas. Anyway, religion has now come to embrace these concepts as god's design. Now take evolution, suppose that is god's design also. If you follow the assumption that god is all knowing to get to the creation of man would be just like making soup. What do I mean by this? Say you wanna make chicken soup you start with the ingredients and combine it with water and walla you know what you are going to have and that is chicken soup. Now take god, he takes the ingredients he needs and mixes them in that all purpose substance water and let the brew go thru it's paces. Simple eh? There is nothing to fear from the concept of Evolution. Really there isn't. Don't make the mistakes of the past by fearing scientific discoveries and condeming those that put them forth.
  8. Evolution Fact or Theory?. I continued this topic about evolution/creationism in a new thread.
  9. Evolution is a Fact and a Theory. I agree with the statements in the link. What's your take on this?
  10. quote:Originally posted by Darkling: Let's see if I was in a business where: A. There is no price growth. B. It's heavily taxed and regulated. C. Pollutes everything. D. Has limits on profitablity (Yes, the excess profit laws for the Oil business is still on the books) I would be looking for an alternative too! Don't forget oil is a finite source and given a few more decades poof it's gone.
  11. quote:Originally posted by Forever Light: In no way would I be sorry to see indecent tv or radio programming to go. What defines indecent? Remember early TV and movies when a show's scene was in a couples bedroom take note of how the bed(s) are arranged. Seperate that's how. Two individual beds with a night table seperating them. I see that coming back I tell ya. Also, to the religious, it's the teaching of evolution that's indecent. Does that mean if they rally the government behind them, doing the lobbying bit, and have that classified as indecent and have the government yank that from broadcasting you wouldn't care. They've already tried doing that in public schools. I dunno about you but I love science and am an evolutionist and live off of Discovery channel, History channel, Discovery science, Discovery wings and discovery times channels oh and the BBC america channel. Anyone trying to regulate those channels I'll go T. DUDE postal on 'em! BTW: There has been talk by the government about finding a way to go after Cable and Satelite.
  12. What's your take on the Howard Stern affair about being dropped from the radio? I personaly didn't like his show either on Radio or TV but I think it should not have been pulled after all these years. And all this talk about also going after Cable and Satelite to clean up their act also. I'm wathing CNBC right now and all they keep bringing up is X rated programing not violence mind you but human sexuality. I myself would rather watch a program about human sexuality than violence any day. I get my violence fix from my games . Ever since that Janet Jackson fiasco. It also seems to me that these media companies are affraid to stand up to the FCC and government scrutiny. What a bunch of whimps. Little by little friends we are being corralled by our government. Should a few thousand people who complaign about shows dictate to the rest of us what's decent and what should be aired.

  15. More wasted taxpayer money! That's all I gotta say.
  16. Not that bad for what it is an Indie game using the programing language Dark Basic. The ship textures could use some work.

  18. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Got it last night. Played it. Was bored stupid. So I went back to the UT2004 demo. Don't get me wrong, the physics, environment etc are all great - but you've seen this game before, somewhere. Not sure how they hope to stand up against, oh, lemme see FarCry, Soldner, Joint Operations, Doom3, HL2, UT2004 etc. Yup standard fare FPS but the graphics are nice. I downloaded it last night locked up twice on me within the first five minutes. The first time I tried to play it at 1600x1200 and it just froze on the load screen the second I was at 1028x768 and I got thru three areas started going mad staggered and I got booted to the desktop. Haven't gone back to it since. I also finally got a working UC demo and have been trying it out since and not one problem yet. As for UT2004 isn't that game crazy!! Love the vehicles.
  19. "Dreamcatcher sent over a note acknowledging that a multiplayer oriented build of the upcoming first person shooter Painkiller intended only for the press has leaked onto the net" What these guys have to do is stop sending things to press/magazines what ever. If you've read my post in another thread "pirates captured by buccaneers..." "According to court documents, Breen and other Razor1911 members acquired, cracked, and sold advance copies of Quake, Command & Conquer Red Alert, Terminal Velocity, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and many other games. They acquired advance copies of said titles by posing as reviewers for fictitious game magazines and having them shipped to a derelict storefront address in Oakland.", Need I say more. Just send screen shots and documentation that's all.
  20. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: First off, you need to stop. These guys need to discover this stuff on their own, you can't just hand it to them. Those are some very good links by the way. Holy Blood, Holy Grail is an excellent book, but they just scratched the surface, they were on the right track, but they missed some stuff. And Joseph was Davidick, make of that what you will. Sorry, I lost my cool seeing your post at 7:30pm I was going to bring this up then I came across your next follow up post and I couldn't believe my eyes!! Someone actually hinted at the Rennes-le-chateau mystery. I try to talk to people about this and I get strange stares or called a blasphemer. Anyway, ahh I just tossed them a few bones to whet their appetites. There's plenty more to discover believe me. Oh yea, those two sites about Rennes-le-chateau are my favorites litteraly I have placed them in my favorites links and there they've sat for a long time going to them from time to time as I roll the stuff around in my head. Also, the book Holy Blood, Holy Grail I think was intended more as a begining to get ya started in this mystery.
  21. quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: Main thing being Jesus, literally, the King of the Jews. Literally, not religiously, not as an analogy, but LITERALLY, the King of the Jews. Oh and study up on the Holy Grail, Hint: it is NOT what you think it is, and also the Knights templar ought to really get the neurons firing. Hit Google with that, it ought to get you started. Right now I am busy putting together a Home Inspection report and have a computer to redo, so I am a little busy to be giving anybody any type of reading list right now, but I can and will get to it if requested, it will just take me a coupe of days. Damn ya beat me to it. Rennes-Le-Chateau and More Rennes-le-chateau. Hmmm, maybe we should start a new topic on this. Anyway, I've been most interested in this since playing the Gabriel Knight 3 Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned game. If you are too lazy to investigate this the Holy Grail may be referring to the blood line of Jesus. Also Did Mary Descend From David? and if she was that would lay more creedance to Jesus being the true King of the Jews. Very interesting stuff all around.
  22. quote:Originally posted by Darkling: Very well put, throughout history many people from the Romans....have tried to paint the Jews as Evil Where did you come up with that about the Romans? The Jews were just a conquered people just like all the rest the romans encountered and they were treated no better and no worse than any other conquered territory. If the case was as you have stated, don't you think the Romans would have wiped them out instead of trying to govern and deal with the Jews? To the Romans, Jeruselam was just an insignificant little speck on their territorial map. Unless you were a rebel, criminal or just a religious fanatic trying to stur things up and tip the status quo they didn't give a crap as to who you where or what you were doing as long as you kept up your payments of Roman taxes. The only time I can think of that the Romans had a problem with a particular religious group was the Christians. Thousands upon thousands were sent to their deaths into the colisuem all for just being christian and nothing more. Also let us not forget that Christianity is a Judeo sect that Christ made accessible to everyone on the planet. As for Hitler and the Nazi's we all their hatred for the Jews.
  23. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: graphics ARE nice to have, but graphics without gameplay, or with problems, just gives a lifeless and/or lacking game. While X2 is a really good Elite clone, it has very nice graphics, but how many are actually playing it with everything turned on? Or can sit around for mindless hours etc etc. All games, graphics or not, end up being about one simple thing. Gameplay. Yeah I've noticed the trend with gamers lately they think that what's displayed on the monitor/tv is the end all and be all of the games existance not taking into account that a game like UC or any comparable game does a massive amount of things behind the scenes like processing the AI, content etc... These things are not done magically but requires lots of cpu power all while doing the graphics real time. There has to be trade a off somewhere. I don't see a solution to this until everyone has CPU speeds of 4-6ghz with 2-3gigs of system memory with a Video card of 1.5 GHZ VPU core speed and 1gig of 1ghz QDR video memory (Quad Data Rate) . Until then, it's just going to be the trade off. Damn, I wish I had that right now I tell ya!! quote:Originally posted by Wolferz Tutorials??? If you need a tutorial to hold your hand when learning the ropes of a game, take it back to the store cuz you ain't smart enough.Whenever I see someone complaign about no tutorials, the learning curve is longer than ten minutes or the manual is too complex, I always think of what they are like. The one thing that always comes to mind is that Monty Python creation the Gumbys "Owwww, my brain hurts" and all I can do is laugh. One game that comes to mind that had a tutorial (actually three tutorials) in the game but you still needed to read the manual under the chapter tutorial to go thru it is Silent Hunter II. In other words, no in game help they basically just plunk you down into predefined scenario with no "hand holding" by a AI tutorial guy.
  24. quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Chavik: I'd rather keep a cd as new as possible. Exactly, I make copies of CD's wherever and whenever possible to save on abuse of those original CD's. Not from me per say but from visitors that come by and play on my computer. I swear some think that the CD's are either frisbees or coasters.
  25. Three demos I just played UT2k4, Hidden&Dangerous 2 and Farcry. What can I say but . Hidden and Dangerous 2 I didn't think was going to be all that good but was I wrong and I do have Hidden and Dangerous 1 and Devils Bridge that I really liked and am glad H&D2 is a very good follow up on that game. BTW you can download H&D1 w/ Devils Bridge for free! Same with Farcry didn't think it was going to be all that good you know standard fare first person shooter but that game just grabbed me right into it's enviornment and gameplay and wouldn't let go it's a shame it ended so short can't wait for the full version. At 496mb it's well worth the price of the download . As for UT2k4 what can I say but it's Unreal with vehicles and a few new weapons like the spider mine gun which I like. You shoot the spider mines out right click on the mouse for the Alt-Fire and a lazer beam tag marks your target that the spiders run towards like lemmings on speed. Can't wait for these games.
