quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Whoa!! nice. Thanks for the link Bandus. http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/th...dick/index.html Hmmmm, special effects look great. I dunno about the story line though. Alot of Dune and Star Wars elements. Acutally, the begining seqence looks alot like dune and so do the costumes. Necromonger could just as well be the Sith from star Wars. Well you get my point. Other than that it looks really good and they got Judy Dench to head off the cast very good choice. I hope my observations of it aren't too Riddickulous (Sorry I had to say it I just couldn't resist that one )

They can't do this!! can they?? (RESOLVED!!!!)
LostInSpace replied to Kalshion's topic in General Chatter
quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: Sorry about the subject, I didn't really know what to name it. But if you wondering what im talking then here's the scope A couple students and I had a meeting today with the administation at my school, we have never had these meetings before.. well we just found out that all the students in my career class being DENIED the right to graucate all because of TWO, yes you heard me TWO, students who keep messing up and ruining it for everyone. Administation has told us that conditions in my career class don't get better soon then everyone will be kicked out of school and we'll be unable to graduate WTF!?!? can they REALLY DO THIS!?!? Honestly are they allowed to do this? Punishing a whole god damn f***ing class all because of two students who are screw ups? (they don't like the career class so all they do is sabatoge equipment and make life harder on all of us) My friends and I are thinking of taking action against this since we find it to not be right since we had nothing to do with these problems What are you guys opinions on these? I can understand if they didn't know who it was but since everyone knows it's two guys I'm assuming everyone knows who it is. You go after them then and not the whole class. I'd fight that one to my dying breath. To me that's tantamount to saying " because there is one overly obese student in the class everyone must go on a diet!" -
Top retailers to nix PC games?
LostInSpace replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
quote:Originally posted by Spindoktor: I've watched the EBs and Gamestops in my area shrink their PC shelf space little by little to make room for... even more console used games! How many used copies of EA's console sports retreads do they need on the shelf for gods sakes. The profit margins on used games must be ridiculous. These stores are turning into the old Funcolands. Ah let them that'll be their loss and demise. Yea looks like these stores are going to become used car lots for Games. I miss the old Software Etc.. I bought games since the store opened and was owned by B.Daltons book store. -
My hats off to all those brave enough to approach him with only a lab coat and rubber gloves. If that was me, I would have demanded a bio suit before going anywhere near him. Can you imagine what that would have looked like on video! . And to all you WMD critics seems we found one: SADDAM. One down and how many more holes in that place with WMD hiding out.

Top retailers to nix PC games?
LostInSpace replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
Well that's their 7% loss. Looks like the best thing publishers could do is just to offer the PC games as an online order direct for them and let the publisher and developer pocket all the profit. Like LucasArts I usually buy the games direct from their online shop because they offer little gifts with the game. I agree about Gamestop ever since the name change man has that store become smelling more like a bum in 100 degree weather. -
quote:Originally posted by IceCold: Looks like it just got more interesting. Oh by the way, I was looking at the CNN picture headline yesterday evening and wondered why they were all waving red flags. Turns out that they are the Iraqi communist party... Interesting how they could not find another mass celebration to photograph. I was wondering about those red flags myself but was too lazy to find any info about it. Thanks for the info on that. I don't know about you guys but I found yesterday very surreal seeing the video images of saddam and just the fact we got him. Anyway the info now coming off of CNN is that Saddam is answering question like a "Smart Ass". This according to sources in contact with Wolf Blitzer. Saddam has confirmed there are resistance cells but refuses to give locations.

quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: The casualty rate is VERY low...True, what people seem to forget also is that more people die in one day in this country from car accidents all the way down to criminal activity than the brave souls that have died since this began. Not that I'm making light of these soldiers deaths but when you put it into that perspective it makes it easier for us that sit comfortably safe back home here to come to terms with this issue.

MS Windows Product Lifecycle
LostInSpace replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Science, Technology & Health
quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: Now that MS has announced their lifecyles for 95/98/ME, it looks like my next game will only support XP/2K. Thank God. I knew it was only a matter of time before I needed to spend more bloody cash for a swiss cheese OS. I think it's time for me to drop the MS product line all together and give Linux a try. -
quote:Originally posted by Eclipse: Bout time. Maybe this will help curb a few of the suicide bombers over there. Ummm, I hate to burst bubbles here but what if it makes it worse with increased attacks with a demand they release Saddam. They should have taken him out but the powers that be consider he's too valuable a source of information. We may find out what countries were secretly dealing and trading with him (among other things). Is this what France and Germany were affraid of? But then again, anything he says can it be believed? I'd like to point out to everyone as to what happened to his statement that he would not be taken alive? He sent thousands of his own people to death in defense of his regime but when it came time for his turn he didn't have the guts. Or was the raid that successful that it totaly caught him off guard. From what I understand, he was captured with a pistol and 750 grand (I'm sure every news channel will have a different figure) and it does seem fiting that he was hiding in a rat hole. And boy will the news be in their glory with something to talk about all day and many days to come oy vey!! Just a few thoughts for your entertainment .

'nuff said. Way to go troops. Just turn on CNN.

Manhunt banned in New Zealand ya gotta love it "While it has no problem with men gutting thousands of orcs on film, New Zealand doesn't take too kindly to men killing their fellow men in games."

quote:Originally posted by $iLk: Yeah, in RL I wouldn't be saying "LOL good shot" when someone snaps a head shot on me in Real Life like I do in a game... Yup, or some mysterious guy crying out in a megaphone "WASTED!" as what happens in GTA1 or getting a Unique Stunt Bonus when mowing down dozens of pedestrians doing a few rolls mowing down some more then rolling down a cliff side and mowing more down at the bottom as in Carmageddon 2. Ah the good ol' days.

Our so called "Technology" may be the reason we see an upswing in more virulant virus strains. We not only have to worry about the natural evolution in viruses but the ones that are created thru genetic engineering of our food sources. We already know that antibiotics are becoming more and more useless as bacteria evolve more resilitant and deadlier because of this. EVOLUTION NEVER STOPS. Scientists overlooked and forgot this. What else have they've overlooked or forgotten? And the only ones to benefit from this are the pharmaceutical companies. I think the boy in the bubble has the right idea. I think it's time we all need that bubble to live in. Genetic engineered super viruses Super Viruses Through Genetic Engineering Genetically manipulated foods. It's scary because you hear nothing about this on the news. The only thing you hear is about smoking, eating fatty foods, violent video games blah blah blah. Is there a coverup? Anyway, I'd rather take my chances with a joystick loaded kid anyday than these little nasty bugs. [ 12-12-2003, 11:40 AM: Message edited by: LostInSpace ]

quote:Originally posted by $iLk: Guns don't kill people... Video Games kill people. Hmmm, does that mean we have to give up games including UC!?!? I tell you what let's make SC take all the violence and weapons out of UC and just have everyone in the game be nice to each other. OY VEY!!! What a sight that would be.

quote:Originally posted by Jaguar: Opinions please, these 2 articles scare me to death. I can't believe that we are ordered by law to do this to our children. Long article, but if you have kids, or are getting these vaccinations, you need to read it. Why you should avoid Taking vaccinations. And then this one. CDC study raise level of suspicion This is downright frightening to me, and there are plenty of other articles telling me the same thing. What are your opinions? Agree, I've known about the dangers of vaccines for a few years from a first hand perspective and from research on sites since my sisters baby who was in my custody (long story belongs in an update on my life) died just two months after recieving 4 vaccine shots when he was one month old. I took him to the clinic for a checkup and they asked me if I wanted the baby vaccinated and I said yes, what did I know, doctors know best right? That was in october of 2000. I went to my sisters house christmas day and left the baby with her becuase I had work to do the other day and no one else to watch the baby. Well she calls me up the follwing morning and informed me the baby died during the night. After months of waiting for extensive lab tests being done by the coroner upon my request what came back was that the baby died of the Adeno virus. Was this caused by the vaccines? In my heart I believe it was there is no other explanation. Last year I got deathly ill after getting the flu shot. Vaccines can make you sick as well as protect you I guess it's like a double edged sword. Vaccine 1 Vaccine 2

quote:Originally posted by $iLk: I think it's already sold more copies than most other games anyways... big yay for the P.C. people... Rockstar ought not to have caved... I thought the stereotypes were there for a reason... I agree. Also, most everyone in that game is stereotyped. What are they going to do, take everything out of it? If they do that, it's just going to become a Disney game!

I was watching CBS news and they are claiming victory for the Shame on you segment when they highlighted the way Haitians are portrayed in Vice City. Also from ugings of Mayor Bloomberg here in NYC. Rockstar is now going to remove the haitian issue from vice city from further copies of the game. Of course not everyone is still happy because of the all the copies that are still in stores now. Guess what though, whomever has the original GTA Vice City has a nice little collectible.

I mean it's the only thing that keeps us guys going even in our darkest hours. And indeed to lose that hope is surely a dark day for humanity. Of everything that has come and gone and all the things that I have lost, it is that one hope that keeps me going day after day. For without it it is surely the death of man. quote:Originally posted by $iLk: I'm looking for responsible girl nowadays. Sorry to disilusion you but there is no such animal. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: The love scenes were unneeded, gratuitous and laughable. When you have no less than three of those within the first 38 mins, you know something's clearly wrong. 8/10 I say it was done to entice and ensnare the Teen crowd to at least turn it on. I am in 100% agreement on you about the characters. I just wish they would come out with something original. We've seen remake after remake in the movies and on T.V. for years now from an organization that has lost any inspiration and talent to come up with original stuff. Oooooo did I say that nasty word "original" .Take for example the american version of that british comedy Coupling what a disaster. Now the original series was perfect you could not have asked for a better chemistry between the characters and the actors are perfect. BTW the character who plays Steve in the British version also made an appearance in Pirates of the Carribean. All I can say in ending is that I just wish original things would come out in the same calibre as 2001:a space oddesey, A clockwork Orange, Blade Runner etc. But alas I think not. Knowing our luck some brain will decide to remake the Wizard of Oz this time staring Britney Spears or The Wiz with Beyonce. .
