How the army used tech to nab Saddam

Interesting. But I thought they tripped over the rug. -
Damaged Navitron Computer 50%
Charles Lindsey replied to Ace Ventura's topic in Battlecruiser Series
quote:So what do you think about the FC3 fighter and the 3 things at 99%? If the system is green don't repair it. Ever. Even if you are obsessive compulsive don't do it. It causes more trouble then it's worth. Especially if the system is ummm say 99%. quote:Deck3 on the CC? yeah it has a little arrow to view like 2 more things. That should be their right? Well of course they should be there. I was just making sure you had remembered to check for damage on those last 2 systems. They are easy to forget. And sometimes damaged systems also damage adjacent halls/floors. Which is where all the posts for stuck personnel come in. -

Damaged Navitron Computer 50%

quote:I guess if I had cheated I would have deserved it, but I didn't cheat. I believe you. I was just trying to explain how others may have thought you were using playmod. quote:the idots reassinged themselves to the navitron even tho' I had suspended it. Re-read my above post about watching what they are doing. Doesn't Deck 3 have an arrow you have to click to see the last three systems on that deck? This crops up every so often. You may just have a corrupted game. -
Damaged Navitron Computer 50%
Charles Lindsey replied to Ace Ventura's topic in Battlecruiser Series
Playmod is available on the downloads pages for the various products. It allows you to "cheat" by giving yourself money, setting AI's, and some other junk. Haven't used it myself to play but it can cause corruptions. Useful for testing stuff like "what if my pilots had full AI?" It's not recommended or supported for long term play. My situation is/was barely similiar but I'll say it again anyway. I don't mind typing if ya'll don't mind reading. I once had a condition where I could assign personnel to a duty and they would start that way but then they would head back. Seems like an officer wouldn't stay on station and subordinates wouldn't go on station or duty. If I stayed on them and kept re-assigning them they would eventually get there and do what I wanted but I had to watch them like a hawk. I had even reported it as a bug. To make a long story short once I repaired EVERYTHING and cleaned up all radiation the situation cleared. A while back there was something with money but it only had to do with the display. If you made too much the display got garbled due to limits Derek put on the display. The computer did the math correctly just the display was garbled. But no the game does not think you are ceating by making too much money. So, it may or may not help but there is my input. -

Best combination of cd/dvd drives?
Charles Lindsey replied to Charles Lindsey's topic in Science, Technology & Health
Thank you. I read Tom's Hardware Guide: 11 DVD's Reviewed; 70 Tests and benchmarks Quite interesting. An off brand impressed them almost as much as the Pioneer A06. Certain home DVD players had trouble with the dvd +R format which could cause problems making home movies. With several www.Pricewatch.com vendors advertising CD-ROM drives for less than $20 that's a gimmee. I think I'll go with a standard CD-ROM for installs and one of the better DVD Combo drives for everything else. What I want to do is view the extra content on the movies I rent so I will monitor the dvd usage and if it's too frequent I can always add a dvd reader later. -
Opinions on the best combination of cd/dvd drives please. I am thinking about a standard 52/56x cd reader for installations and general use. Then a dvd drive for general dvd use and finally a multi format dvd reader/writer for creating dvd's and/or cd's. The reasoning behind so many drives is that I don't want to wear out a writer with general use. And dvd drives are generally only 40x cd readers so that's why the triple combo but I could do with just two. Any opinions; combos, formats, internal vs external welcome.

Balor\Bishamon Fleet Combined Rollcall
Charles Lindsey replied to ShoHashi's topic in Insurgent Fleets
Happy New year to all! I'm still hanging around the back alleys hitching a ride on the internet when I can. When I get everything back together I will change the Balor Fleet web page/Staff so that everyone's links will point to their fleet profile. I found out that my new motherboard was set to halt on all errors. So after replacing the keyboard, mouse, and ripping out the cd drives I finally got it going or so I thought. It seems that surge/outage/whatever damaged the hard drive's write/erase head. Odd but possible I suppose. It can read what's there but can't install anyhting. I can't delete anything either. It pops back up if I restart. So with a new hard drive in hand I now need to replace the cd drives so it can be all there and I can do a virgin Win XP install. Will get there eventually. -
quote:Originally posted by Commander Jamont: just wait they all turn against there users I came to the conclusion long ago that computers are inherently evil and take a special delight in committing suicide just when you need/want them most. quote:Originally posted by Commander Jamont: chavik maybe you should think of a UPSI have thought of that as well. Should have done it long ago. Thanks. Because even when you turn them off they aren't REALLY off. There is still power routed to the motherboard to allow wake on LAN and wake on modem and all that other fancy stuff. So the power outages and flickers still take their toll on the circuitry. I wanted to upgrade anyway this is just forcing me too.

quote:Originally posted by Bandus: It's real common for power supplies to fry and take the entire computer with them. I've seen it a lot, especially when I used to work at the computer store.. Thank you thank you thank you. I knew I wasn't crazy. I'm on a rather poor grid and my power blinks at least once a week. I can tell because I have to reset my VCR and alarm clocks. In the year I have had this computer the power must have dropped at least 50 times. Three weeks ago I came home and hit the power button and nothing happened. I took out the power supply, opened it up, and the little fuse had blown. I bought a new one, installed it, powered it up, the lights came on but nobody was home. Now I've got a new motherboard with memory on the way. Once that is going I get to see if the HDD is ok. Someone nice did give me the tip to set the BIOS to stay off after power loss. Then call the power co and cuss them out.

Why should you avoid vaccinations
Charles Lindsey replied to a topic in Science, Technology & Health
I beleive two things; 1. We are sterilizing ourselves to death. 2. We are curing ourselves to death. 1.All these anti-microbial products on the market and the push to eat food no more than two days old is preventing even natural germs from entering our systems so when we do get something it's a doozy. My opinion only of course. I wash with soap especially after going to the bathroom (gave myself pink-eye once by rubbing my eyes with dirty hands) but don't take extraordinary precautions. 2. The saving of preemie babies, while heartwarming stories, are probably passing along whatever problems they had to begin with. I'm scared to think what will be happening in a generation or two. But then again medical science may have advanced beyond that so it may be a wash. Generalizations of course and all disclaimers apply. -
Finally saw part 1 last night. I had it taped. I liked it. I give it 70% and I agree a little bit with everyone. Some of the acting was painful to watch. The sex scene was almost gratuitous. I feel it showed his infatuation with the cylon and why he let her into so many areas of the defense network. But then again they could have done that another way so it was almost gratuitous. I don't mind Starbuck being a woman but her acting was painful. I like the oriental girl as Boomer. If turned into a series I think the actors could grow into the roles. But Derek, you ought to ping them hard. The Galctica looks just like a Canlon. I wish they would have kept a bit more of the old styling like they did with the vipers. That said; HELP!!! The person who records for me is a bit retentive when it comes to timing. Either the show ran over a touch or his VCR was off. My tape cut off right after Apollo used the pulse generator. I saw Adama screaming for Lee and the radar go dead then a split second of static and It's Christmas Charlie Brown came on. I wanted to cry. What did I miss from the first episode? Then last night I was talking to them on the phone and they were flipping thru the channel guide and discovered it was running from 6 to 8. I might get the last hour and a half.

Balor\Bishamon Fleet Combined December Roll Call
Charles Lindsey replied to ShoHashi's topic in Insurgent Fleets
Ok your username is Cruis.in, your sig says Cruis, and you put Cruise in your registration. Which is it? To follow the rules I think I will change it to match your username. That way people will know who you are when things start rolling. -
Balor\Bishamon Fleet Combined December Roll Call
Charles Lindsey replied to ShoHashi's topic in Insurgent Fleets
I was wrong. Cruis.in you need to register on the Fleets Database so I can approve you. I don't see you in my fleet yet. -
Balor\Bishamon Fleet Combined December Roll Call
Charles Lindsey replied to ShoHashi's topic in Insurgent Fleets
I'm getting there Cruis.in. At the time I approved the above listed folks I did not see you listed. You must have registered about ten minutes after I logged off. I'll check today. But no you don't have to do anything else. I'd hate to lose my shadow dread. -

Balor\Bishamon Fleet Combined December Roll Call
Charles Lindsey replied to ShoHashi's topic in Insurgent Fleets
From the Fleet Faq . quote:However, the first thing you want to do is join the community forum so that you are pre-screened and approved by CAT. Once you have gained access to forum, you can then register to join the desired fleet via the Fleets Database. Be sure to use the same username which you registered to use on the forum. And it does not have to be your real name or commander name. Its up to you, which you choose. The reason you are required to use your forum username, is for easy identification. Your registration application will be rejected if your username does not match one that is already registered to post on the forum.(Bolds are added) Dunno if it was you or not. The guy signed in as Chappy. I'm gonna reject chappy. Watch out for that drop down where you choose your caste. Even though you navigate to the Insurgent area you still have to watch that drop down so you don't pick Earthcom or something odd like that. Think on which arm of the insurgency you would like to join and we'll let Shohashi chime in as well. Oh, you do have a registered copy of BCM/G right?Another rule. Or intend on buying UC? -
Massive Scope Games: The Debate.
Charles Lindsey replied to Extinct_Reptilia's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
quote:On another note I signed up in the Online Database many days ago and have yet to be approved or disapproved. Perhaps this is why the insurgancy is shrinking!!!!! Accept me or Reject me. But do something. Please go into your profile and turn private messages on. Then we can talk without cluttering the board and going off topic in this thread. Are you reading the Insurgent roll call thread? I just mentioned about ditching a guy 'cause the registration was wrong. Is that you? On Topic: X:BTF was decent bet couldn't quite get enthused enough to finish it. I liked the trading and the map was large but once it got into fighting I didn't like it so much. -
Bham itself isn't too bad when you get used to it. There is a Division Avenue that splits the city. As you have seen there is a north side and a south side. The numbers increase the further away you move from division avenue. Streets are numbered incrementally all one direction. (I'm pretty sure, I haven't gone down to first street and crossed over to see what happens. ) Anyway 13th thru 22nd street on 6th ave south is UAB. The numbers increase up to the 90's as you move towards Roebuck and Huffman. I grew up to the northeast of bham in Center Point. It had everything I needed so I never learned the outlying areas of bham like Mountain Brook, Vestavia, Homewood, and the like. The Summit is over that way I guess as is the Colonnade. At least I know how to get to the Galleria and the nearby Comp USA.

Finder1, Pugwash, Weegee, and Dreadx now approved. Holding off on some other guy. He picked empirian military. Probably deny cause he hasn't even popped in and said hello. -
I've had friends help me like that before. It's always appreciated. I quit counting my post count. It's up there and I post a good bit but at least I don't ooh and ahh over every single screenshot that comes out.

Power supply came two days early. Yay. good thing I got off work early. Hooked it up and all the lights came on. And stayed on. And stayed on and nothing else happened. Ughhh it got the processor too. Fudge. Well I was gonna upgrade anyway. The only thing is, I usually like Pricewatch but motherboard combos are something else again. They advertise one price but when you go to the website they nickel and dime you to death with all the add ons. AND ordering over the holidays stinks because no one is going to be at work till tomorrow which throws delivery until next week even if they do get it out the door the same day. And we'll have fun fun fun till my daddy takes the tbird away. Congrats, a two page chat. I think that's a first.
-
Found a 400w power supply for $11 at pricewatch. Free shipping as well. Only thing is it's scheduled for delivery on the 28th. Ughhh. Oh well, the wait is worth the $30 I saved I suppose. Good thing I'll be off too because they have it set up for signature required. I wonder what other single people do when they have shipments that need signed for?

For the third time this week I went home to find my power off; except this time it had taken my power supply with it. It was fine when I turned the puter off two nights ago. Oh, well. So I'll be quiet for a couple days till I order one in. (can still read from work and sneak a post or two like this)
