SC, are the minimum specs based on the server being fully populated, or is that based on a unpopulated server just running the game world with no users logged in? Also, is it possible to save the current state of the world on the server incase it has to be shut down for some reason such as maintenance. [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: Roberto ]

Yeah, it would nice for it to be that way Tac, even though I do the see the problem that SC stated too. Seeing less certainly does make it more interesting, mainly because you HAVE to set up fighters on patrol missions just to make sure the area is clear. I like that idea a lot since my fighters seem to engage anything hostile in the area, no matter where it is. Are the fighters supposed to do that? [ 01-09-2002: Message edited by: Roberto ]

Turrets on a asteroid? No way!! Who would have thought about mounting turrets on asteroid to fend off attacks!! Ive seen the asteroid, but never thought about why it was there. Great idea! How many more secrets are there in this game? Psssst... any chance of hiding this thread so the insurgents wont know its there when they attack in MP?

Missile performance question
Roberto replied to Guardian452's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Hey thats great new SC! I was wondering about the missiles myself! I didnt think they all had the same turn rate. -
I have got past it a couple of times. But I stop playing when the old patches were deleting saved games (because they were incompatable back then). I was just wondering about the violations thats all, and which missions cause them when you failed. Ive only just get back in to ACM again after playing ROAM for so long.
-
Since we are on the toipc of ACM, I have a question for anyone who may know this... Do you get a violation for all missions failed? Or is that just for certain missions like the first 2 in TOD 1? I keep replaying the second mission since I cant get the Diplomat to dock on time. I guess that teaches me for choosing a slow ship to fly!

Ive come across that too when the enemy marines dont shoot me. I had fun though running around shooting them all to see how long it takes before they notice me

If we can, then the SC can take a look; no harm done (beyond the wild goose chase he already pursued). Thanks perry, I will post them after my lunch as I have to run home to get the steps I wrote out, since I am at work right now. I will send them as a PM (private message) [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: Roberto ]

You asked me not to mentioned this again unless some one else had the same problem as I did with the TTDs, which I have done by your request. And you mentioned above (in my quote) that you wanted a way to accurately reproduce this, which I may be able to help you with, if you will let me (I wont post the steps unless you say its ok for me to do so) The steps only takes about 5 mins to go through. I hope I can help in some way

If you tractor it with your CC, then you can bring it aboard, providing you have power to your launch control, and also to the tractor beam on your CC. I think you can select 'DELIVER TO...' Option for your SC too, but I cant remember off hand without trying it out myself so I may be wrong on that one, but doesnt mean you cant try it anyway

If you do a search on this forum for comments on both the persistant dammage FX and the latest patch, you will find that this has already been addressed and fixed (See the Version Control File) This is the link to the 'latest' patch..

SC, this was the same thing I was trying to explain to you before. Yes I have already been able to verify, and reproduced this by means of the steps I posted in this thread, before it was deleted. I am hoping that other people have seen this too, but now I feel a little better knowing that I am not the only person that has seen this.

It would be nice to know what those firing arcs are. Ive noticed on a few ships that they dont fire in all directions. Maybe that will change with RC5. Gona try that patch tonight

I do have one that I feel is very important as it forces you to shut down the game and restart it again to work around. I need to wait untill I get home though before I can give you a step by step guide on how to reproduce the problem. If you need to know in a hurry, I can try and explain here. Im online untill 5pm Central time before I go home, so if you reply to this, and say you need it now, then I will reply back ASAP Basicly the Tags that appear (I know there is a special name for it but I cant remember off hand) on all the objects seen in TACOPS when you zoom in to an area, seems to not always show up, under certain conditions, which I can reproduce from the gold version, up to RC4 (need to get home to try with RC5). I mentioned this in another thread, which I know you dont like people posting the same thing in 2 threads, but this one asked for important issues to be posted here, which I am doing. Do you want me to just go ahead and explain better now? or wait untill I apply RC5, test it again, then post?

quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: 1. I will look into it 2. Don't have a clue what you're talking about As for the patch, if you don't apply it properly. Well then.... I will attempt it again tonight. If the second problem still exists after doing a fresh install (just to be sure nothing is messed up) I will try and explain the problem better as I didnÔÇÖt make my previous description clear enough

I have two issues for you to look at SC. One is only minor since its hard to find anyway, and one I see as major since it effects the game when your doing ground ops(in my opinion anyway..) 1.. Some misson zones contain naval bases which are on land, and so when you zoom in to them, they appear to be sinking in to the ground. Ive seen this so far on 2 planets, and been able to jot down the location of one on earth. TER/EAR - Misson zone 205 (earth246) - nbase02 Hope that location helps. I checked it twice to be sure it wasnt just a glitch. Ive seen quite a few naval bases in the same situation (in the ground) I will try and find as many as i can sometime tomorrow when I get home from work. 2.. Im hoping this isnt my system, but, if you start a game from scratch as roam, using the default settings displayed when you select a new game (other than naming your AE). After launching, go to tacops, zoom in to earth and observe the planet so you can see all the mision zones. Now, at random, look at diffrent mision zones, and on each one, zoom in to the bases, so you end up looking at at least 10 DIFFRENT bases(not the same, this part is important). I found that after looking at 7 diffrent bases, the info (not sure what you call it...) that is displayed over each object (name, shield etc..) no longer appears! This had diffrent results each time I did this, but it always landed inbetween the 7th and the 10th base I looked at. As you progress, you will see that they all look ok to start with, then you see that some of the objects have no info, and some do, then the next base you look at has no info at all, along with every other base you then look at after it. This problem I noticed a while back when my AE and marines where not showing any info in tacops, and this explain how it happened (if you transport things down to the planet after the info dissapears, then anything else you transport down also doesnt contain any info). Im hoping that this post isnt too confusing in its description (Im half asleep right now). If you need me to be more descriptive, and give you a step by step guide on what I did to re-create this, let me know, and I will jot down each base I click on so you can see for your self. Oh by the way, Im using the 1.02 RC4 patch. I tried to down load the RC5, each time I did, it was the same RC4 patch for some reason (info displayed in the game said "Dec 3 RC4") [ 12-03-2001: Message edited by: Roberto ]

quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: They have auxiliary power cells How long do the power cells last? I left the game running for 1 hour while I was cooking, and was supprised to see the ships still flying around earth! I set them to attack me, thinking that they wouldnt have the power to shoot me, but I was wrong, they gave me quite some dammage (I wasnt trying to avoid them). Im guessing that the aux. power cells dont run out, right?

SC, I looked to see if anyone else had this problem, but I didnt see this mentioned before so I figured I would mention it here. Its nothing critical, but, I noticed that if you leave your FCs running around in space untill their charge runs out, they are still able to fly! I was doing some planet ops, and forgot all about them being left in space, so I flew up to see what was going on, and realised they had no charge left. Anyway, I selected return to base, and they fired up their engines, and flew back to me!! First they hyperjumped to my location, then they flew the rest of the way to me. I know that if they run out of charge, they shouldnt be moving. Just some thing for you to look at when you get bored.

Diplomat 1 will apear in your area after a few mins. I think it was the last one to be launched. Stick around earth and watch tacops for it appearing.

I havent noticed any comments in the VCF regarding the deployment of marines via a shuttle (as well as OC) Did you manage to catch the problem? Or is that on the bottom of your 'to do' list?
-
IceCold, you are right about the messages when you deploy and pick up drones. Actualy, it only gives you the message once only for each of them. In nother words, when you deploy the next drone, it shows the correct message. Steps to reproduce.... 1.. Start new campain as default selection. 2.. Using tacops, zoom to a point on Earth, and set shuttle 1 (actualy works with any shuttle) to deploy a drone at a given way point (I only set one waypoint, no more). 3.. Launch shuttle. Now as soon as the shuttle gets there and deploys the drone, you get the message about the Phased IOD being installed. Works every time I tried it. Regarding the other message that appears when you recover it. Ive seen it, but I forgot to try it out to see when it happens (Sorry IceCold). I may have time later to try it out. This is something for SC to look at.
-
Ahhhhhhh now I know why I get that message LOL Ive been getting that same message, but actualy, now that I think about it, I dont think its related to drone 3 because when ever I get it, I still have drone 3 (and shuttle 3 for that matter) on board. I was meaning to look in this myself to figure out what it was. Ive also had the message about the ORB artifact being installed, but havent been able to figure out yet what triggers the message (I get it during the first misson of the campain, as well as the other message relating to the IOD). im gona play around with it a little to see if I can figure out when it comes on so SC can reproduce it.
-
WOW! Didnt expect the game to send out shuttles on the ground to pick up Cargo for the enemy
-
Ive a question for you SC, regarding the deployment of marines via a shuttle. What AI level do you need to be to do this with out killing them all?? I just tried a pilot with a AI of 25, and it still killed them all. Also did the same for deploying a OC (Ai of 24) and also just set way points with the last one set to HALT (AI 24 also) and it didnt halt (waypoints were long way apart.. 2 way points) and also tried to same with the last waypoint being Wait for orders, which acording to the manual is the same as Halt. Just curious to the levels needed for these to work correctly (tried them all on a flat piece of land)
-
Ahhhhhhhhh that would explain it. Dumb marines trying to drive a shuttle with out a license huh? No wonder they all died! lol
