Al Qaeda in Iraq Issues Virulent Manifesto
John Prezioso replied to LostInSpace's topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
Who knows? Only they themselves appear to buy their own BS, and I wonder even at that sometimes. What I know for sure is that terrorism loses when Muslims actively become involved in the governing process, and this scares them to no end. -
The fact that the process is taking so long is, in my view, evidence of them taking the process seriously. Why would they fight so hard to hammer out an agreement on the constitution if they did not intend to abide by it? As always, I am the eternal optimist. EDIT: BTW Asperson, welcome to the community!

Israeli Soldiers Clear Out Gaza Strip

quote:What does the PA/Fateh/Hamas/Islamic Jihad/Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade/Hizbollah/Tanzim and all the other para-military organizations do ? What is their responsiblity to the civilians in Israel and the PA occupied territories ? Or is it a double standard ? Pals. can do anything they want and only Israel is up for criticism ? Palestinian civilian casualties are a CONSEQUENCE of the actions taken by the Palestinian government and para-military terrorist organizations. -

quote:Yes, simple. Would you accept the same methodology in handling poor US neighborhoods plagued by crime, drug traffic and gang wars ? After all, in these places the local residents also know approximatively who does what... No ?Clearly the obvious has passed you by... We are not at war with gangs and poor people in the U.S. While I have much respect for you, Nomad, I am glad that someone like you is not in a position to make tough decisions that affect Israel. There are negatives to be considered in every course of action a nation can take, and in wartime such negatives are amplified tenfold. The cost of INACTION, however, is orders of magnitude greater when you are in a war for your very existence. I have been to Israel, and while I was there, what made a profound impression on me is how integral a part of Israeli society Arabs are. If the Israeli's were dead set on eliminating the Arabs indiscriminately, why would they incorporate them so into their everyday lives? Your assertion that Israel NEEDS them is a possibility, but the point is, Arabs who make no trouble for Israel are completely left alone. Israel is tough enough to answer Palestinian violence with violence; it boggles my mind that people can take issue with a nation actually being strong enough to answer agression in kind. As long as innocent Arabs (and for the hundredth time, I do in fact know they exist) are not the specific targets of such Israeli attacks, there is no moral equivalency whatsoever. Collateral damage is a sad but unavoidable fact in war. I hate it, but there it is. -

quote:But I forgot, I am probably loosing my time,... Nomad: The term is "wasting my time". I'm not trying to mock you - you write excellently in English considering it's not your first language. quote:4) For the palestinians, the situation is different. Every time a few palestinians terrorists attack israelis, the IDF retaliates either by not so precise "selective asassinations" or by destroying entire neighborhoods, industrial complexes or facilities (like the airport entirely paid by the EU). And there is still people wondering why Palestinians hate Israel or why their services are deficient ? Well then the message to Palestinians should be rather clear - turn over or kill the murderers your harboring or the attacks will continue. Simple, right? -

Arizona Ranch siezed and given to illegal aliens

Darkling: I feel your pain about the rest of your family in Columbia, but I still stand by the statement that immigrants migrating here must follow the proper legal avenues. If you don't even show respect for the laws of the country your moving to, how can you expect to be a good citizen? I want hard working people like your dad to come over, but I want them to do it legally. Frankly, I think it would be easier for those with the desire to do it legally if all of the people with NO regard for our immigration laws were barred from entering. As it is, it's just utter chaos. -

View Points Of Ex-Muslims
John Prezioso replied to LostInSpace's topic in Politics, Religion & Legal etc
I have heard that a lot of what the more militant Muslim preachers claim is in the Quran (or Koran) isn't really in there, or alot of what they say is a perversion of its meaning. I don't have the patience to read the whole thing, but I have yet to find any overly objectionable content in what I have read. I wonder if the kind of Islam practiced today by militants and terrorists is a perversion not unlike that of the Catholic church, where it was infiltrated by homosexuals and pedophiles who became priests. -

I, like you, believe diplomacy is always preferable to violence, Wolfheart. But how can you negotiate with terrorists? I'm not saying that all Palestinians are terrorists, mind you - indeed the vast majority are not. Yet they let Hamas and Islamic Jihad do all of their "negotiating" for them through death and terror. Even now, Hamas vows to continue killing innocent Israel's. If they can not rein them in, then Israel will answer in kind; with force. And rightfully so. I say, kill the terrorists and let the negotiating begin. -

quote: "How do we Americans benefit from all the assistance we are giving Israel? What is Israel doing for us?" I got no reply to the questions.Wolfheart- Why should Americans expect something in return for supporting another country? The notion that the US should help someone only when there is some means of reciprocation is ludicrous. The U.S. supports Israel because she is an ally, and rarely forgets to ACT like an ally, unlike some European countries I could name... We support Taiwan in their bid for independence because they are right and China is wrong. When the Palestinians are not busy either blowing up restaurants in Israel or dancing in the streets celebrating the deaths of innocents, Bush supports their cause, too. He has mentioned his vision for a Palestinian state several times. It's simple. As long as terrorists are allowed (or encouraged) to act with impunity by them, the Palestinians and their cause are a joke. -

Let's say your a Palestinian. You rail against the "evil" of the Israeli "occupation" to garner world sympathy for your cause. All along, if you are not one of those Paestinians who revels in and celebrates the murder of Israeli civilians, at most you sit idly by and watch terrorists do murder in your name. You say or do nothing to stop the FAR greater evil of terrorism. This is the epitome of hypocricy, and hypocrites are not credible. -
quote:And it'd be a lie to show her that since I'm not in the military anymore Hey - it's not a lie. You are a military veteran for life. Assuming you served your term, you have earned the right to wear that uniform for life.

quote: So let me explain my initial analogy:going beyond your boundaries to repel an attack is self-defense,BUT going beyond your boundaries to acquire land is robbing the thief(and his family). Hey if a thief breaks into MY house, I kill him, not rob him. There is NOTHING illegal about Israel's presence, as it was done to debilitate the enemies' ability to launch further attacks, and claim land THEY believe is rightfully theirs. If they and "Palestine" come to a settlement, then that's what is legally binding. -
