While rummaging in the Centris system yesterday my cc (BC MkIII) became badly irratiated. I fled back to Pluto, treated everyone in Medibay and fixed the ship with the Radpacks I'd forgotten to stock up on before. Tsk.

Once everything had calmed down I went to deploy my pilots back to their fighters. Now the two chaps assigned to FC2 were fine - in they jumped and were ready to go. Everyone else made it to the FC bay and then just stood there lurking around the coffee machines chatting idly. No amount of re-ordering made any difference. All the fighters were prepped and ready to go with the system engineers even holding the steps for them.

Eventually I lost my patience and ordered every one of them to their quarters and off-duty. Ten minutes later I sent them a pair at a time, back to the crafts. This time they took the hint and clambered aboard.

An worrying portent of a future mutiny, or a wonderful example of low AI newbie pilots just wanting some downtime to talk about sts tactics? It was great watching Perscan track them around!

btw - it's great to be back in the bc3k world with a so far totally stable UC (on a laptop too). Thanks Pugwash for helping me sort out the irc yesterday.

If only it were the chicks! I found out that they'd read Cmdr Shingen's hideous post about how he routinely slaughters his pilots so as to progressively save their AI!

Hellraiser already has personal confidence issues that we try to deal with in the weekly 'get to know your Captain' sessions. Now I have the lot of them freaking out over highly dubious medical pratices...

You gotta love it!

it is amazing what 4 or 5 hours in the brig, will do to a fighter's "obligation to duty" perspective.

Threat, of constant and repetative death, has not been fully investigated.

We should REQUEST, a briefing, as to the overall effect, this practise has on the pilots psyche...This, would probably be best, kept from the pilots. A NEED to KNOW scenerio...if you know what I mean.

Ahhhh, now I know why my post disappeared. I posted something similar to this somewhere else and it vanished.

Thanks SC for cleaning up after me.

I can't get any of my pilots to go to FC2. I've taken them all off duty and reassigned them all but noone will board FC2. The pilots assigned to it go to FC bay 4 and get stuck.

I hope MY guys aren't gawking at chics, especially when a Megaron decides to make laser-love with me.

I guess I'll try taking them off duty for 10 minutes or so and see if they decide that they really want to be pilots or not.

If your fighters are prepped, give your engineers a rest. And tell them to clean up after themselves. When they leave equipment lying all over launch bay, your pilots can't get past it all so they just wait around, drinking coffee, hoping the engineers will eventually call for a couple cleaning-bots. Which never happens unless you've left standing orders to that affect.

Well, I figured out why my pilots couldn't or wouldn't board FC2.

Seems like the engineers I had assigned to FC2 were still there when the pilots arrived. Apparently they were sitting in the cockpit pulling on the stick and making vroom vroom noises. The pilots decided to let the engineers have their little fantasy and walked over to FC bay 4 to hang out with Lace.

I don't blame them because she sure sounds hot and I bet she looks good in her flight suit. And she knows how to use a stick!
