[rp] 1915, March 15, 3008 Undetermined Location, Credian Quadrant GCV Usagi The Gambit had been running for well nigh 36 hours of constant operations for Wraith Fleet and Fleet Commander Daniel Londono, nearly thirty-six hours worth of bad news from all Fleet areas. Operational Readiness is at an all-time low for battle worthy assets; weapon platforms and personnel. Unless some type of miracle or something unforeseen turn in the battle didnt happen soon, Wraith Fleet would cease to exist. The augmentation of the Mandorian Military within the Fleet had only delayed the inevitable. The Mandorian battle effectiveness was not as good as the Wraiths and they had suffered the most casualties to date the Lydan battle zone. No reply has yet been received from the Kandorian Military. The quagmire in Lydan could strengthen if the Kandorians entered the fray. Each minute the Kandorians delayed commitment of their forces into the battle in their home system, was one less minute of Wraith Fleets survival. Time was Fleet Commander Londonos biggest enemy next to the Gammulans. News had filtered in from Dragon Central that concerned the Wraith Fleet Commander. Resources were committed to assist the Falkyrie resistance against Gammulan occupation forces. Resources Londono felt would be better served assisting Wraiths battle woes in Lydan and beyond. No word had filtered through the space-ways from Sol as to when or if reinforcements would arrive. Londono had sent the warning order up the chain when the Gams first started offensive operations. To make matters worse, Delta Wing was once again missing and no word from his second-in-command. Deja-vue and flashbacks from the first Gammulan War entered into Londonos thoughts. Delta Wing is missing and negative contact with Corsair Wing  what was left of it that is. Next thing he thought was that the Insurgency would come riding like the Cavalry of old and save the day. Fat chance of that ever happening again, Londono thought as he perused that latest update from Dragon Central. He chuckled to himself as he read the latest exploits of the galloping Corsair and the latest mess that Gallion had gotten them both into, as if Londono didnt have enough to worry about already. 1920, March 15, 3008 Undetermined Location, Gammulan Quadrant The handler went about his business as though nothing were amiss. The operation was at a crucial stage. Hari had successfully penetrated the targets abode. Now all that the handler could do was wait as he paced the confines of his office. The handler ran all possible outcomes of the operation in his cranial cavity as he paced the confines of his abode. One-by-one he eliminated possible back doors and possible loopholes inherent to all operations. The four warships contracted to transport the operative to the target were no longer an issue. That loophole had been closed by the battle currently raging in the Lydan system between Galcom and Gammulan Military forces. The handler had covered his tracks well as did the operative throughout the pre and post phases of the operation. The fruits of his labor over the past seven years were about to pay off. 1920, March 15, 3008 LV-103, Alpha Cygni Activity within the two space vessels in orbit around LV-103 increased. On one vessel, Marines were getting ready for the preverbal what-if syndrome donning their battle gear. Marines were getting ready on the other vessels as well but instead of donning the normal battle gear one would associate with Marines, they were exchanging what they wore for attire more appropriate for the cosmopolitan atmosphere of a Falkyrie trading zone. Non-military attire of various styles and hues were unveiled, as final preparations were complete. The Commander of these infiltrators wrapped up his final preparations on the bridge of the transport. On occasion he would glance towards the bridge viewer display at the blackened and battered hull of the unexpected and unwanted battlecruiser escort. Each time he looked away from the viewer he would shake his head in dismay and disgust while muttering obscenities in various languages. Tringad had a mission to do and would do his duty to successfully accomplish its objectives, with minimal casualties on his part. 1926, March 15, 3008 Lydan, Krynon The hand-to-hand combat raging within the Gammulan warship was not going well for the Gammulan Warriors. The unexpected change of tactics taken by the Terrans had caught the Gammulan Commander and the Warriors aboard his warship completely ill prepared and off guard. The Terrans had the advantage from the onset of battle and swept through the meager Gammulan defense like a hot knife through butter. After several minutes the Gammulan Warriors regained the initiative and were beginning to repeal the Terran boarders, inflicting heavy casualties against them. That is until the legendary Terran known as Murphy once again reared his evil and diabolical head, this time in favor of the invading Terrans or so what was thought. Echoes of the battle raging aboard the Gammulan warship emanated though out the bowels of the ship. Then abruptly stopped as a section of the warships bulkhead weakened failed. Everything close to the hull breached that was not secured was pulled through the hull breach and into the vacuum-void of space. Terran Marines and Gammulan Warriors equally fell prey to this unexpected change in their battlefield. Hull breach containment measures were automatically initiated by the Gammulan computer systems. Massive doors blocked off passageways and hatchways were sealed. In some areas the combatants were locked in together with no hope of escape anytime soon, their only option was to continue their private dance with death against each other. In other areas the combatants were cut-off from each other and blocked. The Gammulan defenders were caught on the wrong side of the fence when the hull breach occurred. The Terrans had control of most of the warship, excluding the bridge, computer systems, and parts of engineering. Quickly the Gammulan Commander weighed his options and chose the only one that remained viable to him. He moved towards his command terminal on the bridge and entered the appropriate command codes and authorization; then set the timer for a two-minute countdown; destroyed the command terminal; resumed his station o the bridge at the command chair; and waited. Through out the passageways, berthings, and holds the computer voice of the Warships mother was heard counting down the seconds remaining before the end of the battle: WARNING, AUTO-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE INITIATED A timer appeared on displays through out the warship and blinked as each second ticked away 00:02:00 00:01:59 00:01:58 ... WARNING, AUTO-DESTRUCT SEQUENCE INITIATED 00:01:57 00:01:56 00:01:55 . Questions about mining, cargo, fatigue
Gallion replied to Dusty Waters's topic in Battlecruiser Series
1) They're four places to stash normal (not fuel) minerals: - Cargo Bay 1; when full then nothing else will fit. - any of the shuttlecraft; up to 2000 units worth (one unit of mineral = 5 cargo units) - any of the ATVs; up to 500 cargo units. - Transporter; up to 1500 units of storage space What can be stashed in each cargo bay cannot be altered. The items are set in stone. 2) Hang on for the ride 3) Yes - as stated in the Manual. Unload each Drone, then dock and sell the goods. Repeat as necessary. 4) This varies from person to person. I too have experience the pain ye just described but managed to figure out how it works when docked. - First; don't allow ye BC to get into such dire straights - Second; put 1/2 crew in medbay, send the others off duty. Insure that all have reached their destinations aboard ye BC (check via PERSCAN) before docking and doing repairs to ye BC. - Time will stand still until ye departs from the space station. Check ye mission time after launching from said facility. You will find that the time it took to reapir ye BC has advance in the old mission clock on ye bridge. TTFN and happy hunting Edit note - Thanks Rattler, I forgot about the Transporter [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 05-14-2000).] -
Ok, thanks to William Ramsey, this motley saga is saved. Manaaged to salvage all but one major post - maybe. Which one that is I has no idea. To Tringad - Thanks. To the rest - the song remains the same TTFN

Reposting the major posts only. This post originally posted by Robert De Bruce on May 10, 2000. ----- 1905, March 15, 3008 Lydan, Krynon ECV Event Horizon The bridge of the Event Horizon was a mess. Several computer terminals were on fire and much of the supporting structure and bulkheads had collapsed. All the bridge crew had injuries of some description although thankfully as yet there were no fatalities. All around Commander Robert De Bruce lay the debris of a war in space. Wire hung from the ceiling and every few minutes sparks would fly from a swinging cable in a fashion that reminded the commander of an old twenty-first century space movie. Around him his crew worked to keep the ship and themselves alive. Frantic orders were issued, requests for a tool or component to repair a vital system, power allocation orders, helm headings and damage reports. The action seemed almost distant and automated. Since jetissoning the core to stave off the initial Gammulan attackers, the ship had become the centre of attention for several other enemy battlecruisers, all smelling the blood of a wounded prey. Propelled by a shuttle and protected only by her interceptors the ship and her captain were playing a constant game of chase, as the ship darted across the system. De Bruce knew time was not on his side. If he could not remedy the situation soon the valiant efforts of her crew would be for naught and they would surely perish. Over his comms link came the voice of his Security Officer Chris Raistrick... "Captain, we have the intruders isolated in the shuttle launch bay. I think we've won the battle Sir, but our losses..." the voice trailed off. "I understand Chris." ,was the reply. Tactical Officer Dave Garvey, came up behind the commander. "Sir, the ships shot to hell. Unless we think of something fast hull integrity will fail within the next twenty minutes." The Officers voice was not panic stricken, just matter-of-fact. "I used to be quite a card player you know..." De Bruce turned to his comrade. "Sir?" "You know why I was good? Because I kept a good poker face and... I always knew when to cut my losses and get out. Assemble the remaining crew, everyone, and arm them. "We're leaving." "Everybody Sir?" "Yes Dave, everybody who can hold a gun will be issued with a weapon. Assemble them into squads and get everybody to the transporter room. Inform the Chief I need power for the transporter. Its time the Gammulans got a taste of their own medicine." "Aye Aye Captain." 1920, March 15, 3008 Lydan, Krynon ECV Event Horizon The makeshift marines were formed into rough units with approximately 10 men in each. Men and women who had once held a wrench or a surgical tool now carried any spare body-armour or weapon that could be found. Commander De Bruce stood by the transporter technician and spoke to the assembled crew. "We are fighting for our lives now gentlemen. I wish all of you god speed. I shall accompany you on the assault of the gammulan battlecruiser. God speed." The crew saluted the captain and the time was upon them. The first team lead by the Security Officer materialised close to the bridge of the choosen Gammulan vessel. Other teams led by De Bruce and other senior marines were transported to the Engineering spaces, Interceptor bays and Crew spaces. The Gammulans although caught by surprise, were a tough race and De Bruce knew the battle would be fierce. At least with over 80 armed men numbers would be on their side. Reposting the major posts only. This post originally posted by me on May 9, 2000. [rp] 1905, March 15, 3008 EOC, Kandorian Military HQ Lydan, Krynon The noise echoed within the chamber as threats and counter-threats bellowed between various members that were in attendance. The question brought forward was a simple but very dangerous question to both the Kandorain Military and Kandorian Civilization as a whole. The answer to this simple but volatile question would forever change the Kandorian civilization. Proposals for and against the question echoed across the chamber walls faster than they could be resolved. Needless to say it was near pandoimonium for those within. The head and leader of the fray, the one who had the ultimate responsiblity for answering the question - the same question that he had asked those within the chamber with him now. Not so very long ago a priority message was received from one-side of the three fleets currently in heated combat within the Kandorian home system. It was a simple message, with a simple resonse, a response that would be either yea or nay and force the Kandorians to choose a side in what was bound to become a galactic conflict. A conflict that the Kandorians could not ignore. The ruckus and threat-throwing came to a sudden stop has the leader raised his hand in the air above his head, signalling silence and the end of the Kandorian debut. The head of the Kandorain war council had reached a decision. "Gentlemen," the Kandorian leader began, "after hearing all that each of you had to say in reference to our current situation. I have reached a decision...." The ruckus before the leader's annoucement was nothing compared to the cries that eminated throughout the throng as the implications of the question's answer hit each and every Kandorian sitting in the council chamber. The cries sread across the spectrum, from disbelief to full-hearted support. Needless to say that the current tactical situation in the Kandorain home-system was about to change. For the better or worse only time would reveal. 1909, March 15, 3008 LV-103, Alpha Cygni The critical repairs were complete thanks to the creative method of componet acquisistion used by the old Corsair and the crew of the GCV Graf Spee. Though the major repairs were complete, or almost complete, the COrsair's steed was far from 100% battle-worthy. Commander Tringad had reluctantly agrred to a change in his mission orders - not that he had much of a choice in the matter. It is somewhat difficult to disagree with an somewhat unstable man in control of a Galactan Class MKII Battlecruiiser, no matter how beat up and battered it apperared from an bridge viewer. The necessary modifications were made to the Graf Spee's IFF Code Transponder, there were now two space vessels eminating Gammulan IFF Codes within the LV-103 system; on Transport with its Gammulan Military Battlecruiser escort. 1905, March 15, 3008 Lydan, Krynon Things were returning to normal aboard the GCV Shogun, as normal as combat can ever be, in the aftermath of the latest Gammulan tactic. Damage to the Shogun was minimal as to the surviving Wraith warships. Hari found himself in the Medbay of the Shogun when he awake. He had caught some stray laser-fire earlier and was somewhat worse off tan when he had boarded earlier. Medics would swoop by his bed now and then, perusing the various nedical equipment he was plugged into checking his vitals and-what-not. To Hari it was liek a pig wallering in slop. None of the attending medical personnel or security pukes seemed to notice his subtrifuge - he had made. He had successfully infiltrated the target's vessel and domain. It was just a matter of time before Hari found the moment and made his move. Time was on his side now. [/rp] TTFN Ben S. - not yet Ristar and aramike01 - post when ye can. Tringad - any ideas...?

Reposting the major posts only. This post originally posted by Daniel Sedlacek on May 7, 2000 ----- Greetings, everyone! I have just recently been accepted into ISS, so Commander Tringad pointed me here for some RP action. I look forward to working with you all! [rp] 18:21 March 15, 3008 GCV Millennium Commander Daniel Sedlacek swivels around in his command chair and faces his tactical officer, Lieutenant Eric Meyers, "Yes, Lieutenant?" Lieutenant Meyers says, "We've just recieved word from Headquarters. New orders." Daniel nods, "Thanks, Eric, I'll take it in the ready room." Daniel stands and moves over to the entrance to his office, his boots lightly bouncing off of the metal deck plates. The door to the ready room opens, and Daniel slides into the chair before the door leading to the bridge can even close. Finally, he thinks with excitement, No more convoy escorts and sector patrols... I hope. The message uploads to his terminal and he skims through it. -------------------------------------- To: Commander Daniel Sedlacek, GCV Millennium From: Galcom Fleet Command Subject: Fleet Transfer Orders Commander Sedlacek: Your current orders of patrolling Grid 42ae in the Pluto sector are hearby revoked. You ship, and its crew are ordered to proceed to ISS Headquarters where you will recieve an upgrade to the Millennium's weapons, and shield systems. Your ship has now been assigned to In System Support. Upon recieving your upgrades, you will recieve your new set of orders. Any questions and comments must be directed along---- ------------------------------- Daniel cuts off the message, and thumbs the commlink, "Cynthia, set a course for ISS Headquarters, best speed. And give me an ETA." His helmswoman's voice replies in her usual, cheery voice, "Course layed in, we'll be there at 22:45. Anything else?" "Yeah, have the mess hall send up some coffee, I have some paperwork to do." 22:45 March 15, 3008 GCV Millennium The GCV Millennium pulls into dock with ISS Headquarters. Upon docking, Daniel presses a button on his terminal, sending off all the notifications and other paper work he's had to do over the past 4 hours. He quietly stands and moves onto the bridge, "Report?" Lieutenant Cynthia Rodgers replies, "We're firmly attatched to the station. Engines powered down." Daniel presses a button on the wall, "Engineering, Sedlacek here. Logan, are you there?" A somewhat raspy voice replies, "I'm here, Daniel." "Good, some tech crews are comming over from the station to give our weapons and shield systems an overhaul." "Why wasn't I told about this?" "Sorry, Logan, but I've been holed up for 4 hours doing some paperwork. I need you to either: A) Trust the tech crews that they know what they're doing. Or Make sure they don't mess anything up." Daniel snorts to himself, nothing that engineers usually choose the latter. "I'll let you know how things go. Why exactly are we getting an overhaul?" "I don't know yet, but I'll let you know why we're docked at ISS Headquarters." He moves his hands over, and presses another button on the commlink terminal, now emitting his voice to the whole ship. "All Hands: We've just recieved new orders. We're being transferred to In System Support Fleet, if any of you have a problem with this, come contact me ASAP. But until then, Alpha and Beta shifts are off for the remainder of the night. Get well rested. Engineering shifts Gamma and Delta are to assist the stations tech crew with repairs. Again, anyone that is requesting any transfers, come see me. I'll be taking transfer requests starting at 0800 tomorrow. That is all." Daniel flicks off the commlink. He glances around the bridge, "Your all dismissed. Get some rest, and have a look around the station." He walks into the lift and heads down to his quarters. Tomorrow will be a long day, he thinks. Reposting the major posts only. This post originally posted by Ben Z. on May 4, 2000. ----- [rp] 1850 March 15, 3008 Briggs and Elworthy arrived in Commander Ryker's office and began to set up the system infiltration console. "Were you able to find anything about any of our prime suspects?" "Well, give me a couple of seconds and I'll retrieve the summary file we made." Several well practised finger movements later, "OK, here you are- Rebecca Gundine's brother was an Earthcom test pilot. He was killed while testing some classified equipment, but earthcom wouldn't let his family have his body. They incinerated it, and they took over a year to pay his next of kin compensation." "That had to cause some sort of resentment towards earthcom, and maybe towards all of us who work with them," thought Ron out loud. "That's why we noted it down. There's more. Jaromir Tepes' grandfather was killed when the shuttle he was on collided with a galcom battlecruiser near starpath just over two years ago, three years ago Jason Tisborn was aboard a galcom battlecruiser that mistakenly destroyed a pirate vessel that was smuggling illegal immigrants, because they thought they were smuggling weapons, and to top it all off, Commander R'or J'aal has a second cousin who disappeared last year while under suspicion of being a Sla'ti operative." "Well, that just about makes my day. We definitely need that surveillance. Get to it." "We're on it." "Make sure you spread the faults around to make them look random." "Will do- OK, we're in. OK there 17A right. All set. Are you sure you're guys are ready?" "They've been ready for half an hour." "Right." In various locations througout Renegade station, comms terminals and personal workstations flickered and shut down. "Done." "Right, leave the rest to me," ordered Ron. [rp] OK, Rod, off you go! I agree with Rattler. Weekly stat update from the server/hosts. Could be set up to run automatically and in the backround. TTFN
-
This would make things more difficult IMO & IME. However with the caliber of the majority of Commanders on this forum the cheaters always prosper axiom may be a moot point. With that said (went on the limb there), I have full faith and confidence that the MP stats on the Galcom Online servers will be somewhat tamper proof from the outside. The SC is somewhat familiar with data manipulation techniques from unauthorized personnel I do believe.
-
My six bits I agree with what Ron posted in reference to the backside of the database. Once that and the relationships are hammered out then the frontend will/should be a breeze. As to keeping MP player stats, this will have to be server feed, e.g. Galcom Online. Which is great one year plus from now. How to get reputable player stats for BC:M? Next to impossible unless the MP tallys from BC:M hosts are transmitted to an Official Galcom.net location. This would only work if the BC:M host is trusted or registered. More smack than it is worth for MC:M IMO. I agree with the SC, where there is a will they will be a way to embellish ones MP statistics. quote:Bottom line: don't worry about AGP4x for the current generation of cards and CPUs. It doesn't affect performance much. This is true. I had to make a minor v-card swap and resorted to [old] Creative Blaster v-card (AGP 2x/4x) in new system and there is/was no noticable difference in new AGP 4x mobo (v-card still strapped and configured for AGP 2x). However, IME when trying to run an AGP 4x v-card on mobo w/ AGP 2x slot (440bx based chipset) mega hangups and no-worky-worky. I should have been clearer in my previous post and stated that one may have difficulties running an AGP 4x v-card on a mobo with an AGP 2x/1x slot This is my experience only, others will have various experience(s). Ok, here be my six-bits. I have recently completed componet procurement and final assembly of my nre system. I perused a plethora of locals doing research of various componets. Here is what I found: ASUS 6800 - Decent GeForce based v-card for the $. Procured and installed. Lasted about a week before the black-screen-of-death (aka fried the v-card somehow )hit me. Replaced this card with the Hercules 3dProphet DDR-DVI - which is better performing v-card IMO. Voodoo Based v-cards - Only go with these 3dFx chipset based v-cards if one must have a v-card that can handle Glide based software. I am also waiting for the Voodoo5-6000 v-card to hit the market. Key to any v-card is the mobo. If your mobo cannot handle AGP 4x then what ever v-card one procures will be seriously hampered or next to useless. TTFN
-
Morrowwind will be a KA sequel to Daggerfall IMO. Battlespire and Redgaurd were some seriously sucky, sucky games IMO.
-
aramike - same as what ron said with this added - there may also be a jumper on ye mobo to disable on-board vid-card. Another place to try involves going into Windows9x control panel. Open Control Panel/Systems icon. Select Device Manager Tab (can either search by device type or device connection). Expand Display Adapters - Here you can disable the on-board video on mobo.
