  1. Even though I posted in Tips/Techniques Thread that BC3K runs like a charm on 3dFx V5 5500, I am having the a problem running BC3K v2.09 (v2.0 patched up w/ mappak patch) on Voodoo5 5500 2d/3d v-card. I have tried various configuration settings within the bc3k3dfx.bat file and with the 3dFxTools utility. I have tried system configuration settings (config.sys) as stated in the FAQ and various README text files on Forum, CD, and patches. I have also search the web for how to info and have hit a brick wall. Problem: Cannot restore savegame via the Main menu either when staring new hgame or within a game session. This happens after saving a game, quit game, and then try to restore a saved game. Continue works sporadically. System Specs: PIII 733, Mobo ASUS P3V4X w/ Award BIOS v1.01, 3dFx Voodoo5 5500 v-card - w/ latest drivers. glide2x.ovl date 4 May 2000 3dFxTools Voodoo5 settings: * GLide Splash - disabled * Legacy Compressed Textures - disabled * Alpha Blending - Automatic * 3D Filter Quality - Automatic * MIP Map Dithering - Disabled * Triple Buffering - Disabled * Rendering Color-depth - Software Controlled * Maximum Buffered Frames - 1 Pending Buffer * Anti-Aliasing - Fastest Performance config.sys * DEVICE=C:WINDOWSHIMEM.SYS * DEVICEHIGH=C:WINDOWSEMM386.EXE RAM * SHELL=C:WINDOWSCOMMAND.COM /E:4096 /P * DOS=HIGH, UMB * FILES=50 * BUFFERS=20 Exact problem - Getting the black screen of death when restoring savegame. Experience same symptoms sometimes when selecting Continue vice Restore at the Main menu. This happens both within the game itself and when starting new game. Happens no matter what profile I use, FF, ACM, etc. Which is telling me that there is a problem with 2d and 3d v-sync refresh rates. I have changed v-card refresh rate mega times from 60-140hz (no over-clocking of v-card), changed size from 800-600 thru 1152-864 and still get the old BSOD. BC3K does run in software only mode w/o any hickups or problems. I have tried various configuration with the bc3k3dfx.bat to no avail. I like eye-candy Watching Rattler play BC on the old Banshee reawakened my need for the eye-candy fix I would like any assistance that anyone can provide. Whether it be tech or point to info on web. TTFN and TX in advance. BTW - BC3K3DFX eye candy on Voodoo5 5500 is flippin' awesome. Mega times better than Banshee or older Voodoo Cards. 2. Original Gone in 60 Seconds is what I would calla B movie and a cult classic. Cinematics were somewhat crude if I remember correctly. Nothing near what I have seen on the current version previews. Nor did the original have any big name actors involved. Haven't seen the new one - yet. The Irony is that the coppers are doing the same BMC about new flick as they did when the original flick came out. Since both visually show how simple it is to break into and steal vehicles. Gotta love that 1st Ammendment TTFN [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 06-16-2000).]
  3. Nope. Only death and destruction can be done w/ BC3K surface ops. Future BC releases may/will allow capture/colonization.
  4. Excellant **BFETEG** Looking forward to this practical demonstration. Any other takers ... ? Come one come all the pea-shooters vrs the B.A.C. will take place once BC:M be released so practice up out there all you pea-shooter drivers TTFN and I am looking forward to this with pleasure and glee [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 06-15-2000).]
  5. Nolo Contenda
  6. Nope Sounds Mainstreet to me
  7. Yep, tried the search and came up with nothing. Perhaps that info was not restored after the Forum host move.
  8. Yet another end to the second annual gathering. To those that made and I missed - mayhaps next time. As to the rest of the firum - never underestimate southern hospitality of the Rattler's Den. Looking forward to last years gathering, which should prove to be most entertaining with BCM release, etc. To those that wanted to make it but couldn't for one reason or another, I suggest marking ye calendars for next year - June or July timeframe. TTFN and TX to Rattler P.S. Something I failed to mention earlier - I heard that ShoHashi [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 06-14-2000).]
  9. One thing that I have learned trough experience is to not believe the hype - especially by the game 'zines (hard or bit-bucket copy). No big deal IMO, BCM will still KA the competition. No need to get one's blood pressure up over this. TTFN
  10. Finding new ways to crash my comp system and anything else I can get me hands on TTFN
  11. Haven't made me mind up yet. I am tormented with the choice between Mickey Mouse and Archie Bunker TTFN
  12. hehehe ... I'd make them sweat it out a little longer than that Rattler Do as the SC posted; search the forum Pixan. Though what ye will find will be different - to certain degree - due to ACM rewrites by the SC. But the proceedures will be the same. TTFN
  13. Lighten up? - never! Ok gents, let us just say that we will not agree on this subject. J.Smith - yep ye be correct on that; NPC fighters cannot compare to fighters flown by humans. Klark - Bigger is better? NOT! BCs handle like molassas being poored on a warm July day at the north pole. IOW BCs are BF pigs compared to fighters. IMO - The advantage of fighters is their agility compared to other capitol ships (BCs, Carriers, etc.). In that regard fighters do have the advantage over BCs, etc. However, they cannot match the firepower carried by those lumbering giants; even fully loaded with Vagrants. The only way to successful close this debate is to try it out when BCM is released. With that said, I gladly accept ye challenge Whisper As to chasing away possible recruits - BFS I say. Heathy debate within any unit or organinization is good and may even help out recruiting efforts. TTFN pea-shooters [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 06-14-2000).]
  14. hmmmm...somewhat off topic but will continue anyway (sorry Tac ) I disagree. The B.A.C. (as the BCs and Carriers are being called) can effectively eliminate or neutralize incomming threats no matter how close or the where Vagrants or other missiles are launched from. RTFM and experiment against Widows, etc. and mayhaps ye shall see. TTFN [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 06-12-2000).]
  15. I beg to differ with all you pea-shooter drivers. As one of the B.A.C. drivers I can attest to the complete destruction of any and all pea-shooters that try their pea-shots on/at my B.A.C. This is not an idle boast, just stating the fact(s). M/P cometh soon and as with the result(s) there of. Any and all are welcome to try their luck, Fleet affiliation makes no never mind to me. 16. Game time is the only way to raise Crew member's AI - aside from using playmod cheat.
  17. I'll believe that Vorpal when I see a v-card other than 3dFx based chipset state that it (or they) support the Glide API (or whatever it is called). But then again I could be wrong too, wouldn't be the first or last time either The Voodoo 6000 will fit very comfortably in my case. Will have plenty of room to spare too. Bottom Line for this topic: With the prices of v-cards these days, one should contemplate how they are going to use current comp system - now and in the short-term future. Then add a few centavos and get the best v-card that their billfold can handle. $$ spent now reduced many headaches latter IMO and IME. TTFN all and may the polygon count be with thee
  18. All boils down to how much $$ one is willing to layout for v-card. Price vs. performance is ultimate consideration. Voodoo5 5500 has been released and was quickly recalled by 3dFx. Couldn't happen to a better company IMO. The Voodoo5 5500 specs look impressive on paper. Personally I am waiting for the Voodoo5 6000, only for the Glide support. My current v-card, 3d Prophet DDR-DVI really kicks, it is too bad the 3dFx is keeping Glide proprietary. There are plenty of v-cards out at $200 and below that will support 90% of the games - current and previous. As what Ron stated earlier - dependant on what one is using comp system for depends on type of componets (v-card, etc.) that fill the inner spaces. Since I dabble in comp graphic now and then I needed a v-card that could handle my meager requirements and still not break my piggy bank TTFN
  19. hehehe...and more fun than the Grazer1 - Galcom milk run TTFN
  20. Kool and may the polygons be with thee... TTFN
  21. I have a Sidewinder Precision Pro that works like a champ. It be programable too. To answer original question - YES programable joysticks and controllers can be used w/ BC3K. RTM that comes with them and ye will get the minute details, etc. TTFN [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 05-30-2000).]
  22. IMO if one is gonna cheat then one should go all the way and do it correctly. No need to half-ass or puss-foot around Start Playmod. set inventory 58 1000 - Iridium set inventory 67 10000 - Plutonium set inventory 71 25000 - Radine set inventory 136 1500 - Defelector Arrays; best cargo space to profit ratio IMO. set inventory 306 150 - ODS Grazer Cargo Bay 1, 10 CUs per ODS.For the really adventurous.... set officer 1 (1-8 are the MO, RE, CE, etc.) intelligence XX - replace XXwith the value ye wants. Yes one could use the set cheat to 1 but I have experience abnormalities as the gametime increases. set shuttle X (where X = 0-3; SH1-SH4) inventory 277 80 - Vagrants; Thinking of Tac on this one set shuttle X (where X = 0-3; SH1-SH4) inventory 272 400 - Questors [cntrl + z] then press [enter]Sell off the ODSs and Deflector Arrays. This is enough goodies to get the cash needed to play the game (FF, ACM, etc.) without worryin' where the next Galcred is coming from IMO. If one is going to adjust the amount of Galcreds they have - DO NOT increase Galcred amount above 2,000,000,000. In practice - I would not recommend selecting Galcred amount above 1,000,000,000. TTFN and remember - cheaters always prosper [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 05-30-2000).]
  23. A good doodle - my compliments to the artist TTFN

  25. I Disagree nor I will not be part of Fighter Command. I will support Fighter Command as I would any other part of Wraith Fleet. Somebody has to ferry the pea-shooters about and cover their backsides TTFN ------------------ Commander Gallion GCV Graf Spee *1st Squadron, *Corsair Wing Stationed, *Starbase Cerberus "Run Silent, Run Deep" ICQ# 29486270, EST (GMT-5) =Wraith Fleet= Second in Command, Wraith Fleet Bushi of the Dragon Council
