I picked this up on Stardock's Impulse today. It was on sale for $19.95 and you get to download the beta right away. I've only played a bit of it, but I'm impressed with it so far. It seems like there's going to be a lot of strategy to it. -Sho

Yeah, I was disappointed that they ended it when they did. -Sho

[RP ON] Commander Crossgrove strode into his office and sat down heavily in his chair. He swiveled his chair and looked out his viewing port at the billions of stars. The vidscreen on his desk began to beep, signaling an incoming message. Crossgrove turned back to his console and tapped a button. Admiral ShoHashi appeared on the screen. "Commander, I need to discuss something with you, " ShoHashi said. "Are you alone?" "Yes sir, I am." replied Crossgrove. "What do you have?" "Good. A few days ago, the IHC received and encrypted message from Vanguard Fleet's ISO. They claim to have some information on some sort of military buildup in Credian territory." said the Admiral. "What sort of military buildup? And, for that matter, why would Vanguard Fleet even want to share intelligence with us? We're not exactly friends." "I don't know any specifics at the moment. The only sure thing that I know is that they are sending a representative here, to New Frontier, to meet with me and go into more detail." "How do you know it's not a trap to asassinate you?" "I don't think it is, I have a gut feeling about this. And my gut feelings are often correct. Besides, we have safeguards in place." "Ok then. Now, how is this representative getting here? It's not exactly like we're going to let a Vanguard ship close to New Frontier." "Again, I'm not sure. What I do know is that the representative is supposed to be here any day. Just keep alert and when he or she shows up, let me know." "Roger that." The vidscreen went blank. Crossgrove leaned back in his chair. "Ok, it seems like this day is starting to get complicated." [RP ON] As the elevator came to a halt and its doors slid open, Ensign Haney led his security team and two medics out of the elevator and into the small chamber that connected the rest of the station to the docked Solnar. He immediately saw a lone figure standing in the middle of the chamber. The man appeared to be bloodied and disheveled. Haney gave the hand signal to surround the man and his men immediately complied, weapons drawn. The medics stayed back behind Haney. "Check him out." said Haney to the medics as he observed the man. One of the medics walked forward past Haney and between two of the security men until she stood in front of the man. "Is there anyone injured? Can you direct me to the wounded?" she asked, while running a med scanner over the man. "There are no wounded...out of 76 souls, I'm the only one left aboard." he replied. "What's his status?" said Haney as he approached the medic. "He doesn't appear to have any broken bones or internal injuries aside from some superficial cuts and bruises. It'd probably be a good idea to get him to Sickbay for a full checkup and get some of those cuts cleaned up." replied the medic. "Who are you and what's your name?" said Haney to the man. [RP OFF]

To give people a bit more time to plan, another Steam GalCom event has been scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 2:00PM EST. This timeframe should allow our European friends to participate. -Sho

Good to hear, Badman! Now...let's see you in MP! -Sho
-
If you are a member of the GalCom group on Steam and have the Steam version of the games, you can schedule AAW/AoA MP sessions using the following steps: 1. Log onto your Steam account and go into the Galcom group. 2. Select Schedule an Event and name it something. 3. Select Event Type and pick "Play a Game" from the dropdown menu. 5. Select the game you want to play (i.e. AAW or AoA). 6. In the descripton box, type in a description of what will take place during the session. You may want to type in where you want players to meet (i.e. GameLobby and/or GSC). 7. Select the date and time you want the event to start. Don't worry about the Game Server IP and/or Server password unless you are setting up your own server instead of using the Official 3000AD servers. If you are a member of the GalCom group on Steam and DO NOT have the Steam version of AAW and/or AoA, you will need to do the following to schedule MP games: 1. Log onto your Steam account and go into the Galcom group. 2. Select Schedule an Event and name it something. 3. Select Event Type and pick "A lil somethin something" from the dropdown menu. 4. In the descripton box, type in a description of what will take place during the session. You may want to type in where you want players to meet (i.e. GameLobby and/or GSC). 5. Select the date and time you want the event to start. -Sho

I forgot to post about this one. A comedy about a bachelor party in Las Vegas. I thought it was rather funny. I haven't seen a comedy like this in a long while! I'll have to see it again. Trailer is here. 10/10 -Sho
-
Ok, I've set up a "work around" event in Steam. -Sho
-
Yeah, that's what I was trying to do initially. However when I tried to do just that on Steam, AAW won't show up in the menu to play because I don't have the Steam version. I could probably figure out some kind of workaround. -Sho

Ok, now that everyone should have the newest patch for All Aspect Warfare, I'd like to set up for some MP on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at approximately 7:00PM EST. We can meet up in GameLobby and then hit a server. If we want voicecomms, we can also use GSC. I do realize this is short notice. The time might not be right for our European friends, but we can work something out on that later. If you're interested, please post here. -Sho

I saw this movie a while back and I would rate this at a 10/10. And to think I'm only about 40 miles from Three Mile Island! -Sho
-
I finally got to see this and I would also have to rate it at 10/10. I started watching it thinking that this movie would screw up the franchise. By the end of the movie, I've come to the realization that I don't think it did screw anything up. -Sho

THE FLEETS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS By: Quazar Edited by: ShoHashi Revised: 9-9-09 GENERAL PLAYER GROUP INFO I'm considering joining a Player Group. But no one's active right now except me. What should I do? Contact the Fleets Caretaker, currently ShoHashi, or post in a currently existing topic in the General Fleets Discussion Forum. If this happens again later, take the initiative and start recruiting members. You may just make Fleet Leader! What's a player group? A Group is any persistent collection of personnel in the 3000AD universe. Personnel are either NPCs or Players. A Group of any size that contains one or more Players is called a Player Group. Any two player groups may be allied, neutral or enemy to each other depending on their Race/Caste combination. What are Fleets? A Fleet is an Organization under a Fleet Alliance. What is an Alliance? An Alliance is the sum of all personnel of a given Race/Caste combination. Races are Terran, Empirian, Vesperon, Credian, Kandorian, Mandorian, Zelon, Valkerie, Falkerie, Gammulan, Syrion, and Droidan. Castes are either Aggressive or Harmless. Aggressive Castes are Military, Police, Raider, Criminal, Assassin, Mercenary, and two Castes unique to Terrans: Insurgent and Earthcom. Harmless Castes are Explorer, Colonist, Scientist, Diplomat, Trader, Paramedic, Worker, Commercial, Journalist, Tourist, and Hacker. There are 206 Alliances. 74 are Aggressive, 132 Harmless. Aggressive Castes are either militaristic - Military, Police, Insurgent and Earthcom - or non-militaristic. Militaristic Alliances are either subject to the governing body of one of the 12 Races, or - in the case of The Insurgents - are labeled as the highest-profile outlaws of the Terran government. There are 26 Militaristic Alliances, divided into two types - Fleet and non-Fleet. The four types of Alliance are: Fleet Alliance, Militaristic non-Fleet Alliance, Aggressive non-militaristic Alliance, and Harmless Alliance. Also illustrated here and partially listed here. Every Alliance consists of one or more Organizations. What is an Organization? An Organization is the highest-level Group within an Alliance. The two types of Aggressive Organization are Fleet and Force. Fleet Alliances only have Fleets. Militaristic non-Fleet Alliances and Aggressive non-militaristic Alliances only have Forces. Harmless Alliances do not have Fleets or Forces. Many types of Harmless Organizations are possible. For example: Corporations work for profit, Foundations do not. Terran Colonists spread across the Terran Quadrant can associate together based on family ties (like the Zwycky Clan), special interests (such as the Terran Kennel Club), etcetera. You can even define your own type of Harmless Organization, within reason. But if you want to undertake any type of combat without joining an established Fleet, you'll need to join or start a Force, for example the Terran Core Systems Police Force, or you can start your own Raider Force. Organization types illustrated here. What distinguishes a Fleet from a Force? Fleets were created by 3000AD Inc. Each Fleet must have a designated Fleet Leader approved by 3000AD Inc. to lead that Fleet. It is the job of a Fleet Leader to (1) involve his members in MP and/or RP activities with other player groups, (2) recruit and train new members, (3) hold periodic roll calls (at least quarterly), (4) maintain the Fleet's website, and, if he chooses, (5) to delegate one or more of the aforementioned responsibilities to other competent members of his Fleet. Each Fleet, and all of its members, must be properly registered in their appropriate Fleet forum. Fleets must possess a considerable degree of structure and discipline that is usually only characteristic of militaristic castes. Therefore, all Fleets to date use one of the three following castes: Military, Earthcom or Insurgent. Fleets may be comprised of any race in the game. Fleets have special status in, and influence on, MP and RP. 3000AD Inc. currently provides an MP server exclusively for Fleets, and has even given some Fleets their own Starstations in the Single-Player galaxy (AKA the Quadranted galaxy). In contrast, a Force: does not require special permission from 3000AD Inc. to be formed, need not designate a lead member (but must still hold periodic roll calls), may be of the Police Caste or any Aggressive non-militaristic Caste, i.e. not Military, Earthcom or Insurgent has no Starstations named after it, has a lesser influence on collective gameplay matters than Fleets, may play on Public MP servers but not on Fleet-only MP servers, and may not participate in any other Fleet-only function. How do Players interact? Players interact through MP or RP. Discuss MP issues in the appropriate Fleet forums and RP issues in the RP forum. How do I join a Player Group? Before you join, you must: own a copy of BCMG, UC, UCG, UCAWA, UCCE, AAW, AoA or a later 3000AD game, be registered to post at the 3000AD Discussion Board?, and research all available Player Groups to decide which one you want to join. With the above conditions met, you are ready to sign up. To join a Fleet, post a request for membership in the appropriate topic of that Fleet's forum. Note that some Fleets share the same forum; if you are unsure where you should post, send a private message to the Leader of the Fleet that you want to join. Expect a member of that Fleet to contact you shortly with further instructions. The best way to join a currently-existing Force is to post your joining request in the Misc. Race/Caste Affiliations forum. Depending on how serious that Force's members are, and depending on real life time constraints facing those members, someone should respond to your post with further instructions. You may transfer your membership from any non-Fleet Organization to another or to a Fleet. But once you are registered for a Fleet, you stay there. So choose wisely the FIRST time. How do I form my own Fleet? You must first obtain permission from the Supreme Cmdr. But it won't happen any time soon. Besides, the current Fleets have a lot to offer. How do I form my own Force or Harmless Organization? You must post your intention in the Misc. Race/Caste Affiliations forum. Further instructions will be provided on request. Once I join a Player Group, what are the rules? Check with your player group leader. Each Group is different. Generally, you are expected to report in for all roll calls issued by your player group and to MP according to Fleet Action rules. You will need to take the initiative. CURRENTLY-EXISTING PLAYER GROUPS What player groups are currently in the 3000AD universe? Because Fleet members consistently fare better and remain interested in membership longer than others, only 3000AD Fleets are listed. -------------------------------------------------- Alliance Name: Galactic Command Alliance IFF Code: Terran/Military Short Description: Galcom is a joint military and research Alliance between the Terrans, Empirians and Vesperons; the primary duty of the Galactic Command Alliance is to maintain law and order in the territories of its member nations. [RP ON] Lieutenant Derr sat at her console awaiting a response from the Deathstrike. Just then a voice emanated from the console's speaker. "Frontier..this is the private starship Deathstrike.... under your stupid treaty I get to freaking dock here if I'm in distress.. I guess you could kinda say I'm in distress... what up with your telemetry..I systems are on reserve.. please respond..." "He's right, the treaty does allow UCV vessels to dock if they are in distress," said Commander Crossgrove as he entered the Command Center. "Tell him to dock at docking port 5. Also inform Delta wing to resume their initial operations once Deathstrike is securely docked." Derr nodded and turned back to her console and began tapping it. Crossgrove walked over to the Station Security Officer, Lieutenant Commander Williams. "Williams, send a security detachment and some medical personnel to docking port 5. Let me know what you got." "Right away, sir," replied Williams. "I'll be in my office," Crossgrove said and walked out of the Command Center. [RP OFF]

My Ass Is Sore From Having It Kicked So Much.
ShoHashi replied to RichardCranium's topic in All Aspect Warfare
Hehe....so when are going to come around to MP? -Sho -
[RP ON] Commander Crossgrove sat at his desk reading over his daily reports. This was the part of his duties as New Frontier's Commanding Officer that he dreaded. It was so damned boring. He almost wished that he'd turned down Admiral ShoHashi's offer of commanding the starstation. But it was too late to change that now and he would just have to suck it up and continue. He knew in time, he come to get used to the daily grind of starstation command. "I suppose all the action I saw commanding the ICV-Klandorian will be nothing but a forgotten memory in a few months," he mused to himself. Seven months prior, he was commanding the ICV-Klandorian in a skirmish against three GalCom cruisers. During the ensuing battle, the Klandorian destroyed two of the cruisers and heavily damaged the third before it jumped away. It came at a cost however, Klandorian herself was also heavily damaged and barely limped back to Insurgent occupied space. More than three quarters of her crew were killed or missing and the ship itself was in too bad of shape to repair. And so, Commander Crossgrove had no command that is until Admiral ShoHashi stepped in. Admiral ShoHashi was so impressed about Commander Crossgrove's actions in that skirmish the he decided to offer command of starstation New Frontier to him. That would liberate him from starstation duties to concentrate more on his Admiral duties. Commander Crossgrove, knowing that he probably wouldn't be getting a new ship in the forseeable future, readily accepted the Admiral's offer. The vidscreen on commander's desk flickered to life showing a young lieutenant. It was Lieutenant Baum. "Sir, our picket sensors have detected a Solnar that just came through the Pravis gate. It's been identified as the UCV-Deathstrike. It appears to be on a trajectory towards us. Delta Wing is on an intercept course." New Frontier always had an interceptor wing fly patrols in New Frontier space at all times. Alpha, Beta, Delta and Gamma wings were assigned to this duty. It so happened that Delta Wing was currently on duty. Commander Crossgrove sat back in his chair for a moment and glanced at the ceiling. He then turned towards the vidscreen. "Ok, hail them. Priority one address. I'll be right down in a few minutes," Crossgrove said. Lieutenant Baum turned away from the vidscreen at his console to look at Lieutenant Derr, "The Commander says to hail them, priority one address." Lieutenant Derr touched her console and began to speak. "To the Solar registered as UCV-Deathstrike! Confirm and identify. You are in violation of treaty! Move to a safe orbit and confirm your intent! Failure to comply will result in your immediate destruction! New Frontier station hailing solnar designated UCV-Deathstrike.." [RP OFF]
