The only things I can think of it that your Launch bay is severly damaged (which I doubt since you said that you just launched)or if you have damage to your nuclear reactor and your solar panels are not facing the sun your systems were shut down due to lack of power. The only way in is to put your AE into space (which you did) make sure you have the CC targeted, order your AE to fly to your CC and once within range hit Alt+D to enter the craft. Go to Logistix and see if you had systems shut down due to lack of power. Oh yea, and if that doesn't work you can always try sticking out your thumb and hope a passing ship picks you up. quote: gordon i try other drivers etc before i post, the transpoter happens on all the drivers and since it only crash's when i try that i beleave its game related because i can land on the planet and get out with out it crashing, Thats been confirmed in beta, SC has already fixed it, d/l 1.0.05 update from one of the mirrors and install it directly over 1.0.05. For now don't transport your AE to the planet until you install the patch. Didn't you read the SC's post here regarding this issue? See post 01/27/2002 11:37 Besides thats not what I posted about if you go back and reread my post you'll see it was about your ship rendering issue at the end of hyperdrive after viewing a planet. That is still unresolved just sit back the beta team is investigating it. [ 01-28-2002: Message edited by: Gordon ]

xierxior, Most likey has to do with the video card drivers, I use a Nvidia GForce2 MX400 - 64mb using 22.80 drivers. If it can be reproduced by one of the beta testers that have a sim. card rest assured it will be fixed by the SC.

quote: gallion, to your reply above about the first question saying it works as designd im not sure if you understud my question, ok you enter hyperspace while in mid flight view a planet then go back to the bridge now when you get to a jump point and exited hyperspace press f9 you wont be able to see your ship. xierxior, I just tried it this several times, it is not happening on my machine. Most likely an issue with your video card or drivers. Ran test using BCM.exe with no command line parameters.

Welcome Manglor! Once you get the hang of it. You're going to have a blast. If you come across any questions try using the search function we've covered quite a bit of ground so you will most likely find the answers that you are looking for. Happy hunting Commander!

Go to their CO, you pretty much pin pointed that it had to come from either one of those two recruiters. Let them explain to their CO their stories and request that the CO update you, and tell him that if he does not get to the bottom of it that you'll bring it to the next level. The last thing the CO would want is for this to show up in lets say your local newspaper. If the one that did not make the call is privy to that info I would expect him to spill his guts to save his ... You had a right to change your mind and I agree with your decision. I'm sure your quite pissed, I know I would have been, how dare they say the things they said ...Go get em [ 01-22-2002: Message edited by: Gordon ]

Actually you can type in "msconfig" via Start/Run You will then get a menu with tabs, one of the tabs is called startup, here you can just click off the items that you don't want loaded at startup. This is probably what you used in 98, XP has it as well. [ 01-22-2002: Message edited by: Gordon ]

Having just upgraded from Win 98se to Win XP I would make the following suggestions. Do a clean install of XP and reload your programs and drivers after install. Switch over to NTFS instead of Fat32 during install. Some programs that you are currently running will require updates in order to run on XP so check their sites to see if they have the new drivers and or patches to run on XP. Some of your programs may not have updates but may work with the Win 2000 drivers. I also switched over to a "Standard PC" configuration during install, this stops windows from using irq sharing which is known to cause conflicts in some devices (especially SB Live). Doing a clean install will most likely resolve your issue with 3D games and your internet connection as XP is much more friendly than 98se when it comes to setting network and internet connections.

All I can say is that this guy didn't do more than launch his ship and sit there. He made comments about the action being too far away, I guess he missed the Tacops menu and the Zoom functions which we all know would have allowed him to get closer, doh. Which by the way is shown on the keyboard command card he says he was using and in the book - page 29. I couldn't stop laughing about the FC not being able to launch, I think his message should have read "you're an ***hole leave the buttons alone". Hey SC you think you can add this to his next patch? My review on him, I give him the big thumbs down.

Hey Oban, I wouldn't really worry about it I have gone back and forth between those two drivers without any problems XP will ask you if you want to replace the older drivers (22.80) for the newer drivers. Just answer yes and you will overwrite the 23.11 drivers.
-
Hi Antaren, I have the 2280 drivers give me your email address and I'll send it to you. If I find a site that still has them I'll post the link here. [ 01-09-2002: Message edited by: Gordon ]

Hey Gavor, The specs you posted above are vague, more information is needed. What specific driver versions, do you have DirectX 8.1 installed and so on. The more info you provide the easier it is to determine the problem. See ShoHashi's post above for a link to learn how to add your specifications to your sig.
-
Pirate first off please read this thread and register your game if you have not done so already. Registration Second please add your specifications to your sig if you do not know how to do this then read here Adding Specifications to your sig You won't get much help around here unless you follow the guidelines. quote:joy stick: wingman extreme to move the ship left or right i have to twist the handle instead of pushing it to the left or right any ideas? If your stick is programmable which I believe it is just swap your x axis with your twist axis in your stick profiler this will swap the left/right function with the twist function. quote: also the mouse icon is not visible most of the time unles i am in the game. as in tha config menue or the main menue in that normal? and where it says accept or reject if it moves it disappears. This is a driver and or mouse issue please insure that you have up to date video drivers and that you are using the windows standard pointing device. Again, please adhere to the forum rules or you will not get much help in the future [ 01-08-2002: Message edited by: Gordon ]

IMO gameplay will always be more important than graphics. The eye candy that some games have is not enough to keep my interest in the long run. The first time I play a game that has great graphics I will play the intro and enjoy the visuals but I soon become bored of it and usually toggle it off or continue to hit Esc to get to the actual game, same holds true for in game graphics and movie cut scenes. Games like the Battle Cruiser series will always hold my interest as I like to be continually challenged. Most games will wind up shelved after I complete it or become bored of its repetitive nature. I have been waiting quite a long time for a game like BCM and I can not see myself shelving it for a long time. I am not saying that BCM's graphics are subpar, as they are not, but it is obvious that more effort was placed into gameplay and rightly so. Graphics are a fad right now due to the advances made in the computer industry, and I forsee this fad to go the way of others.

quote:Good idea. Though I dunno how they'd look at 48x48. You can try it yourself. All the craft images are in the APPENDIXIMAGESCRAFTS folder as well as in the GFXFRONTENDASSETS.ZIP file I was playing around with this exact idea last night. I put a few together, SC if you would like to see them I will upload them to you tonight when I get home from work. They did not look that bad, at least on my computer, but you do need to use a background that is lighter in color so you can see the ships.

SC,here are some decent sites for avatars if you are interested. Most would have to be resized but there are plenty to choose from. Avatars and FreeAvatars.net [ 01-02-2002: Message edited by: Gordon ]

Thanks Akira. Advil, that's the truth I had to d/l version 1.08 WDM capture driver because the WDM included in Nvidia 23.11 drivers would not work but Vision Tek the makers of Extasy Everything had it posted on their site so I knew ahead of time.

Hi Akira, I went to CompUSA last night and picked up the Xtasy Everything Video card for $200.00. It installed without a hitch. Basically it is a less expensive device than the ATI but does the same. It comes with a GForce2 MX400 64mb vid card which goes into my AGP slot. It captures in mpeg 1&2 along with VCD and others. The only issue that I have is that my sound of a recorded playback is quite choppy, but beyond that I'm quite pleased with the product. Since it has all that I needed along with TV it will suffice until I decide to upgrade to a digital camera. Thanks again for helping and have a great holiday season!

Thanks again Akira, Dazzle tech support responded to my email, they told me to update my VIA 4in1 drivers but I had already did that due to SC's post regarding VIA drivers. I also sent an email to Pinnacle Systems asking about their capture cards (Studio AV)it looked to me that their card would only capture video and not audio but I'll wait for their response. In the mean time I'll continue to work with Dazzle tech support since I have until the 19th of January to return the product. Your right most of the problems are most likely due to Windows XP although I did try to get the DVC to work on my kids machine PIII - 500mhz. The product seems like it would do a good job if I can get it to work, but if there is something that is better I would return it in a heartbeat.

Thanks Akira, I had purchased Dazzle DVC DM4100, it will not recognize either of my two cameras (both have composite video) or any of my VCR's. Movie Maker stated that the "Hardware was not responding" and if I tried to use setup with my camera playing video it told me that the DVC was not connected, and of course it was. I contacted customer support, read the FAQ's but have recieved no response. I did some searching for reviews on the internet and found quite a few negative comments about it at neoplanet (I think), one person was having the same exact problems as me. I also read that their support was extremely poor. So the long and short of it is that I would like a device that will work with Windows XP and not give me huge problems. Some of the people that commented stated that they had to dump all of their system drivers and reinstall in order to get it to work. Yes, I am trying to capture home video that I have on tape and put it on disk so I can view it on my DVD player. Along with making a video for work related purposes.
-
I wanted to get some opinions regarding a Video capture device and could think of no better place to ask for opinions than the BC community. I am looking to purchase one for my computer to transfer home videos onto disk. I recently purchased Dazzle DVC and I'm about to return it due to various problems, so before I make another purchase I figured it would be better to find out which models some of you might be using or would recommend. There is a few things I should tell you first, I need a device with composite audio & video as my camera's are older models so I do not have the newer firewire technology. Also it would have to be for a PCI slot or external as my primary video card (NVidia GForce2 MX400) is using my AGP slot. Any suggestions? I have done some research and have only come up with one the ATI All in Wonder Radeon 32mb PCI, if any of you are using this model I like to know what you think of it and of course any other suggestions that you may have. My budget is around $200.00 US Thanks in advance to all who respond.

Yes SC, that was a pleasant suprise, I was not expecting to see each individual name listed. Thanks for letting us know that our efforts were appreciated.
