Congrats and good luck in that endeavor, Cruis. At the end of basic training with Uncle Sam's Boy Scouts, I could turn 2 miles in 14 minutes. I was 33 at the time and had smoked most of my life, so you should be able to do 1.5 miles in 9 minutes if you're young and strong. In basic, we used to jog about 5 miles every morning until we were in better shape, then it was run run run, Indian Death runs etc etc. And you feel good afterwards amazingly enough. Just don't forget to stretch before and after. Oh, and you never ever address a Drill Sergeant as sir! Unless you like beating your face on the pavement. I helped push Fort Leonard Wood to China and back.
